  1. That is great! From the NASCAR heyday!!
  2. I believe 82 or 83 hemi drag racing pirhanas were built. All are currently stored at a secret location near Area 51 in Arizona. OK - enough with this thread. I don’t know why I keep reading it!!
  3. That came out well!
  4. Clay, a question for you. I seem to recall reading that you paint outdoors. If that is correct, do you paint in the open air, use a box to keep stuff off the paint, or what? Where I have moved painting outside is more convenient but I’ve never done it before, so looking for tips. Thanks!
  5. I looked for the award winners on the event website and facebook page but no luck. Are they listed anywhere?
  6. I think it’ll be tough. Solvaset is really strong but those scoops are deep. I can’t imagine the decal can be made to stretch that much. I had the same issue with Slixx LA Hooker decals. I was luck to have paint the right color so I painted the hood stripes over the scoops, but it’s a simpler scheme than for “the horse.”
  7. Yes to the curved opera window. No to the aft edge of the b-pillar being curved Look at the real red car above. The example you are referring to has the flat or concave glass where the race car has convex glass, as does the red car .
  8. There seem to be a ton of people congratulating Salvinos on this mess on the Mike's Decals page. I guess each to his own, but it is amazing how vociferous some of these people are given they must realize the kit is junk.
  9. The next hurdle is this kit faces is to see how it goes together! The parts might fit together well, or they might not! Will be interested to hear from folks once people start building it.
  10. Wow! And that clear really brings out the sparkle in the One Coat paints.
  11. Given the flaws in this kit we can see before it has even been issued, I am worried for JR Salvinos’ reputation once we see the whole kit.
  12. They are a new company and charging a premium price. I’d go with the old adage “there is only one chance to make a first impression.” Also, once they realized the kit has some problems you’d think they could have delayed the production run. But I wish them luck - the more manufacturers we have the better!
  13. I’d think they’d want to do the right thing and put the corrected parts in the Olds, but sounds like they want to ship it ASAP and not wait for the correct parts to be available.
  14. Glad to see the El Camino still includes the six pack!! They did change the spelling from Six Pak on the box for the original kit.
  15. A nice tribute. Makes me sad to think about the drivers we have lost.
  16. Mike, you ought to drop them an email and tell them of the issue. If they don’t fix it, let them know the way they are handling (or actually not handling) the US market is a travesty.
  17. If you haven’t seen the 24 Hour War you’ll like it. Suspect it will be better than the big budget version.
  18. Mine (cherry hill, nj) had everything above plus the prepainted Revell Camaros and Challengers, and from Lindberg the bad 70s Challenger, the 1961 (???) Chevy convertible and the 32 (???) Ford rod.
  19. That pic John posted of Garlits doing the burnout is really something - looks like he is on the return road! I don’t think they let you do that these days - thankfully!!
  20. The Hawaiian Charger was recently re-released and should be easy to find.
  21. I am at the auto shop while they work on my car. There is a TV talk show on, and they just did a demo of swirl-a-delic painting on picture frames - so Swirl-a-delic lives on!!!
  22. I am interested on what paint colors you use. I should build mine - it actually was a grail - as I have had it sitting in its box since it was reissued.
