  1. Hi Wayne, Welcome to the forum - a lively place with lots of people who know their stuff!
  2. Hi, A really good build - it'd take a long time looking at all the pictures to appreciate all the great work you've done on this one!
  3. Hi, Nice build of a classic kit - the good news for you is that Revell have made several variants of this kit and the aftermarket provides lots of goodies for them as well. You did a good job with the hood - it takes a bit of work to get them to fit as well as yours does.
  4. Hi, Looks like a nice, clean start to the Kenworth. I like the way your dashboard has turned out.
  5. Hi, That's a good idea, might try it myself. Looking forward to seeing more of your build.
  6. Hi, It is a really good kit and you've made a nice start. You may struggle to get the interior in if you have glued in those rear wheel wells. I learnt the hard way! I now paint the rear wheel wells separately if I'm building a highboy - you can get away without using them if building a fendered car. Keep us updated with your progress.
  7. Hi, Sorry - just realised I put this thread in "Under Glass" instead of "On the Workbench". Looked into moving it but couldn't figure out how - maybe a moderator can help? I'm a member of the IPMS UK and am involved in the Hot Rod and Custom Car special interest group. As it is the 50th anniversary this year of the UK IPMS we have decided that our theme at this year's show would be 1963 cars. I've always like the C2 Corvettes so a '63 split window was the obvious choice. The basis of the build is the AMT kit and I have decided to improve their drag version of the kit with some kitbashing and modifying. I started off by converting the back end of a Revell '67 Corvette chassis to narrow it so that the drag slicks could fit within the body. Once this was done the rear axle and suspension was narrowed to match the chassis. The interior is a mix of the '63 Revell snap coupe (suitably narrowed at the back to fit onto the modified chassis) and AMT parts. A mock-up of the major components before commiting to paint. The body has taken alot of work to get to this state (modern kits sure are a lot easier!) and is now in primer ready for the basecoat. The engine will be the blown bbc out of the Revell 1968 Corvette kit. Will post some updates soon. Any questions, comments, suggestions, etc. always welcome!
  8. Hi, Nice job on the Kenworth! The colours on the cab go really well together.
  9. Hi, I'd love a modern Kenworth kit - and, as someone has already said, it would be possible to create more than one variant as the cab/sleeper arrangements are found on different models. I have a resin one sitting waiting to be worked on but it will take a lot of work to get it looking really good. It'll appear on here one day - just don't hold your breath!
  10. Hi, Nice build with some personal touches - the rear wheel arches are a nice touch and can be seen as a nod to gassers but I much prefer the stance of pro mods! Did you do anything with the engine?
  11. Hi, Your project is coming along nicely. The green and white paint scheme sounds like it'll look really sharp when the cab is all sprayed up.
  12. Hi, These trucks were such as classic that I'm sure lots of people, including myself, would love to have parts to modify or improve their K-123 kits now that it is readily available again. There are so many ways you could build one that an enterprising aftermarket company could tap into - lets hope some do!
  13. Hi, Fortunately, my stash has the ones I most want to build already in it that I've built up over the years (Pete 359, Pete 362, Kenworth W925 (Watkins), Kenworth K-123, Kenworth K-100 Aerodyne, Kenworth T-600 (both 2 normal ones plus a Canepa one), GMC Astro). The only ones in this stash I haven't built before are the Aerodyne and the T-600s but I am looking forward to doing a better job of the others than I did first time round. When will I find the time?! Regarding reissues I think the Kenworths would go down well with modellers (although many seem to think the W-900 is beyond repair and there are other W-900s available anyway) and I'd like to see the Macks - never built an R and started a Cruiseliner but never finished it. The Great Dane reefer would be welcome as well. We are fortunate to already had so many re-issued so perhaps more will be on the way!! My fingers are crossed!
  14. Hi, Great collection of kits you got there! I've got a few of the AMT kits to work on as well that I've collected over the years - first started modelling in the 70''s building these so its a flash back for me as well. You may find progress slower than you expect - it took me ages to clean up the parts on a Kenworth K-123 I'm working on (and I haven't even got to making sure the piping fits correctly)! If you look at some of the posts on here these kits still turn out great looking truck models.
  15. Hi, When I saw it was you doing this build I knew it'd be worth looking at! I have also been thinking about putting an AMT Vicky body on the Revell underpinnings (I also have a Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland '32 Vicky body). I would never have thought of the proportions so will watch your build closely - I can see a big improvement in what you've done already. Keep us posted!
  16. Hi, Really nice build of the Kenworth - I always enjoy seeing such well built examples of the models that got me into the hobby back in the '70's!!
  17. Hi, Nice build - you did well with the cab, they can be a pig to put together!
  18. Hi, Nice build of a classic kit. Some of the bits you've used I have been thinking about putting on a couple of Kenworths I have waiting to be built so it was great to see that they have really enhanced your build. Shame about the stripes - model building sure can be very frustrating. It is to your credit that you carried on and have come up with a sharp rendition of a classic truck that I remember seeing lots of when I lived in New Brunswick in the 70's.
  19. Hi, Nice start to the Golf - these were great cars. Always fancied a 16v version but never could really afford to get one. Will be watching this build!
  20. Hi, NIce build of the '32 five window. The green paint and orange plug wires work well. Revell definitely hit a home run with this model - plus lots of spares for the parts box!
  21. Hi, Nice build - you should be pleased with your first effort coming back into the hobby! Its easy to see why these early funny cars are getting so popular, must get one together myself some day.
  22. Cheers Chris - looking forward to seeing your '65 pickup!
  23. I plan to get one of these books - I'm building up a library of stuff to help me venture into weathering. The inspiration for this was Dr Cranky's book - someone who is a real asset to our fantastic hobby!
  24. Hi, I'm really interested in these - will be good for serveral projects! I've got a 2010 Camaro that I've back-halved and got all the clean-up work done for and was about to kit-bash engines until I read about this offering. Will be very interested in a supercharged one for this project! I didn't know about this particular aftermarket supplier and have had at look at their website - looks like a lot of good stuff - thanks for the heads up!
  25. Hi, You might need to wait a while to see my Freightliner build! I have a Kenworth K123 that has all the parts cleaned up so that'll be on here (probably sometime next year) when I am done a couple of car projects I'm doing.
