  1. Well, I'm about a week on this pair of grunds, so....
  2. Sad how they were stored, yet compared to what cars go for on other internet auctions, getting ones with no miles and no dings or tears would still be appealing and could be a light restoration. Granted, I wouldn't bid "sight unseen" though. And not all of them were new.
  3. Whoa, I don't know what half of that stuff is but it looks almost alien. Pretty cool difference from your typical American mills.
  4. Ray Lambrecht's dealership in Pierce, Nebraska closed in 1996, but his stash of unsold new cars dating to the 50's goes to auction next month. The ultimate IRA. Video report from WOWT, Omaha Associated Press article
  5. Wonderful. It's a pleasure to see.
  6. Your builds look darn good. Generally they're quite clean and that's the most important thing to consider right out of the gate. You've shown restraint by not building beyond your skills and the techniques you've applied you've done very well. Spray painting is nice and even. Next time you can explore using Bare Metal Foil and maybe polishing your finish. But only if that's what you want to do to keep it fun and interesting. Nice work.
  7. I really don't think it gets swoopier than Delahaye. But I'd put this on the list; 1938 Talbot-Lago.
  8. But that's the kicker. From the incomplete info in the ad, sounds like you didn't even need to build anything. It's a "Kit Idea Contest." I mean, nobody here has any opinions about what kind of subjects the model companies should develop.
  9. Wow, that was pretty exclusive, even then. It's not just what the MPC prizes were, but the volume. As a kid, that would have been something to get excited about. I was building back then, but they were R-O-U-G-H!
  10. Another reason why model producers operated on a whole other level... By comparison Revell/Gears this year offered top winners 12 kits, apparel and misc. A lot's changed.
  11. Sure a lot of shows announced in this section, which is great. But my hopes are dashed when we don't often enough get follow ups. I need closure. What was at your show? Load up some pics so those of us who couldn't attend aren't left saying, "Hey, what about the rest of us?"
  12. I think Help Hospitalized Veterans could be a strong start. HHV.org They specifically supply craft kits to hospitalized veterans and use them as physical therapy and distractions from depression.
  13. Whoa. Courageous.
  14. Probably the white splash guard. Other than that...
  15. Nissan Juke: My vote for recent car that makes the least stylistic sense. Aesthetically I can't figure out the choices (short deadline and high turnover in the design dept?)
  16. The rebuilt back end really makes a big difference. I love the wood, but that back end treatment sealed the deal for me.
  17. Congrats Kenn. They should have just handed you the ribbon when you walked in. I love Carlton, I stayed at the KOA cabins 3 years in a row during the Duluth dog show (GF's hobby). Sad about the torrential flooding that damaged the Jay Cooke area. Last time we rented bikes and rode to the visitors center.
  18. So what's the word on this question?
  19. To all YouTube video producers... cut to the chase! Get in, make your point, get out.
  20. Jonathan, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks for the tip. That said, I think the pop ups, though annoying and unappreciated, are a small price to pay to keep this stimulating site going and I'm behind whatever Gregg has to do to provide us our little kingdom here. It's actually less intrusive than other sites.
  21. Except the article you linked tells how he insists he never claimed credit for on-screen cars he didn't work on. He does take credit for having a hand in promotional copies that he did work on. It's Number 43 on the list.
  22. Excellent all the way around. I love all the details. A nice clean dirty build.
  23. Nah, it was white. I thought the lighting made the model look creme. There were some head scratchers but those make some of the best rep stock builds because they're color choices most modelers wouldn't choose for themselves.
