  1. I like everything you did, paint, BMF, detailing and I especially respect that you left the factory features engraving on the bottom.
  2. This really turned out well Nick. Your extra detailing on the back makes a huge difference. The lack of detail on this kit (and my lack of knowledge) is what's kept me from proceeding on mine until I get better references.
  3. Flashback! Al, this is a dead ringer (minus two doors) for the sedan the Sisters used to drive to school in when I was a kid. My elementary music teacher was a firm but saucy nun from Ireland. She and her brogue were in charge of the convent's motor pool and she kept the Merc humming. Now that you've sacrificed for that finish, it is now blessed. Nice work.
  4. Steve, that's got to be about the cleanest, most precise interior I've ever seen.
  5. I might have to agree with this. With an arsenal of glues and putties available, we're really just talking about a few more pieces, right? If the body fundamentally points you in the right direction, the rest is up to you.
  6. Yeah, that had crossed my mind too. I wondered if I should've just left the roof alone, I thought it started looking more like a conventional 69 Fairlane. Just one more because this is actually something I've been kicking around a while. 64 Riviera with a 66 roof. These exercises help visualize what the issues might be before I cut into plastic. I started my Cannonball car this way.
  7. Okay, I'll bite. 69-Torino with Fairlane front end and 70-Mercury Marauder roof and rear.
  8. This subject can never come up without me thinking of this plucky young lad and his flying machine.
  9. Yes, clear packaging can work but glass is pretty important. After spending money and man hours and effort on a project, why skimp on glass? Spend the money on good clear hobby shop acetate.
  10. Bravo! You really captured the look of the real thing quite well. I think that's an easy win.
  11. Motorcycle touring Outdoor concerts, the more horns the better Supporting and enjoying classic warbirds BBQs with my GF And watching a handful of fellow forum regulars drive off enthusiastic and aspiring modelers for non modeling reasons.
  12. 3-hours at Woodstock, man. 3-hours. Saved the day.
  13. But if Frigidaire did make cars...
  14. I've learned there's a finite photo height allowed here so if you stack them like that into a tall photo, it will scale down to the height limit. We'll probably see them better if you can break it down more. Though 5 photos are the limit you can add 5 more photos by replying (with photos) to your own post.
  15. I love this picture. It screams 1970s and the neighborhood contributes to the authentic look of the car.
  16. Flush with the body might make more aero sense Casey, but it would almost defeat the purpose of using the Mustang scoop. I think your instincts are correct the way you have it, at least in terms of the coolness factor. It adds to the allure.
  17. Super glue and styrene glue both have roles in model building. I typically use three or four glues per project because they each excel at different needs. Super glue, styrene glue, epoxy glue, and white glue are my weapons of choice and I'm still exploring more.
  18. I'm pretty impressed with the painting that's been shown here so far. All you guys are giving good care to color choices, finishes and crisp two toning. Looking forward to more.
  19. They're in almost every parts box. If you need one I'd put a request in at the Wanted or Trade sections. Couldn't be more than resin plus shipping.
  20. X2. Even if it's ten years like my last extended break.
  21. Summer break. That's what I tend to do too. Box up all but the primary project, pull out the motorcycle and come back later for the long winter.
  22. If there was no primer and you lacquered directly onto the plastic, the paint has etched into the plastic and you won't have 100-percent success. If that's the case, for trouble spots you might do as well to sand on it with fine grit.
  23. We have a completion! Nice work. The V8 worked out great, it looks great and you've got a sleeper Burt & Hal would be proud of.
  24. Looks great. Nice incarnation of a kit that can be hard to love. And with a crew like that, you're sure to be "Stylyn."
