'73 Chevrolet Chevelle- Mastered by Tom Ellifritt
Lunajammer replied to W-409's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Absolutely wonderful! Put a blue vinyl roof on that Tom an you'll be modeling my first car (if it ever looked that good). A great sales tool because I've never been so tempted to jump in on this. -
Very exciting Billy. I believe you're being modest. Having built the kit, I see you've done a lot more than roof, windshield, and front. Class A work my friend.

WOW. I actually know this song but never had any clue who did it. Consider me served. (...and with that entry I join the 1,000 club. Where's my premium tote bag?)

Corvette hot rod thingamabob Update July 26-13
Lunajammer replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Over vacation a few weeks ago I studied the Watson drawings pretty close too and put a project on my short list. So yes, I'm watching with interest too. -
This is such a striking photo. And I'm usually critical of melty dents and cotton smoke. You've really captured action in a way I haven't seen in a long time and I believe the photo craft has much to do with it. Well done sir.

Interesting what turns of events come up as the year plods on. Then to go back in the thread and see where everyone started. Kind of fun. It's summer hours at the Cormaro shop and it's impossible to get anyone to show up so I just swept and locked up until it's cold enough for dregs to come around again looking for a place with a heater. Maybe then they'll figure out how to convert the whole front clip to tilt without making it look clunky.

Which Chevy Engine in Kit?
Lunajammer replied to Bruce Poage's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Bill, you've done it again. I've never given a rodent's patootie about firing order, but when you lay concise diagrams in my lap like that, how can I NOT file it away for future use? -
Ever had a "new" idea "stolen"?
Lunajammer replied to Shelby 427 1965's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, you know, in China, when you're one in a million, there's a thousand more just like you. -
"One man's meat is another man's poison." How many models that got skunked at a contest was the talk of the town at another contest? I guess it depends on the company you're in. I use contests as a measure of where I'm at and how much further I need to go vs. how much further I care to go. Contests are my chance to bring and brag. Otherwise I'm pretty much just pullin' for the good door prize.

FUTURAY! 1950's Flying Concept Car! WIP Photos, Finished!
Lunajammer replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I have a hard time watching your builds sometimes Ira because you so perfectly tap into the ideas that excite me and do it better and more creatively than I can for myself. It's inspiring and defeating at the same time. Oh well. Let the dazzling commence. -
I don't think it's too far gone to work the problem. I'd hate to see you toss out what you've done and start over. I'm on board with everything you've done so far and the posts are still manageable.

Super idea and great start. This is a must build. (or give up in total, futile defeat, drown your sorrows in a couple Carltons and send to Lunajammer )

Looks like a mid-engine hull so the Hemi Hydro would sure be a good foundation. Might have to fabricate the top deck but I'll bet you could glean a lot of plastic shaping tips from member Kennb and his scratch build threads.

Which is why on similar projects I prefer to make the cut behind the windshield frame and mate the tops. The kit glass will fit right and the roof seam is easier to fill & work than fiddly detail areas. I like what I see though and am very interested in seeing this materialize.

Is anyone here going to get the new 1/32 B-17G?
Lunajammer replied to LDO's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sounds VERY compelling. I think this is what you're talking about. It could be quite a signature piece. -
My experiences exactly. I used to be confident I'd place somewhere at each contest but winning builds have advanced to a point that, frankly, I'm not willing to go to so I would not even feel that good about a win if I felt I didn't deserve it. It doesn't change my enjoyment of participating. If it helps Rob, sometimes the most memorable, most talked about, most photographed models at a show don't place. No awards for you, but a half dozen modelers went home thinking about doing something you did. And that goes for the rest o' ya.

Hawk 1/32 rubberband-powered car models from 1961 & 1962.
Lunajammer replied to CSMO's topic in Model Cars
Yup, I still have my Apache. As a kid I was completely unaware of salt flat racing so the Apache was the only one (available) that made sense to me. -
Models on display at 1:1 car show
Lunajammer replied to Sixties Sam's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
First of all they look great. Secondly, this is exactly the kind of thing can excite kids (of all ages) in a way that makes them never forget. How many on this forum were inspired by things like this because the whole scope of what you can do with modeling suddenly made sense? -
Beautiful work Matti.

Depending on who you ask, some folks think older is always better.

shout out to greg
Lunajammer replied to ratrodder51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd also like to commend Gregg on the quality of his website and forum. I do so because these worthy comments always seem to come on the heals of a reaction to some drama and I think this nod of gratitude should stand on its own. Well done Gregg. -
X2. This thread is a great reference and you're doing a bang-up job.

Ever get approached when taking photos outdoors?
Lunajammer replied to Tom Geiger's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It's the lack of questions that trouble me. My next door neighbor (and great guy) just watched and smoked a cigarette so I felt compelled to explain what I was doing. I got an affirmative nod, but otherwise just watched and smoked. -
$700 For Model Rims...
Lunajammer replied to MikeyB08's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yet, there has to be two people bidding it to that high. Harry might be right about the notion of bid rigging, but to the tune of $760...? That's not even reasonable. No, I'll go with a case of a coupla lunk heads who didn't read past (half) the headline.
