  1. Whoa, very exciting! Any pics from before the primer? Wouldn't mind seeing how it came together.
  2. Tamiya fine tape. I have many kinds of tape for different things but I've long since learned to spend the money for the fine edging tape. They know what they're doing.
  3. Interesting texture on that trailer. Explain. I have a vintage lamp with that texture so I'm kind of curious.
  4. I'm sad to hear of his passing too, but I get a certain consolation that he survived all his stunts and died of natural causes and not some self involved antic.
  5. When our company was first requested to put a QR code on a printed billboard we weren't positive it would work, but we tested it and it worked. Then we were asked to put one on a digital billboard, which if you don't know, are very low resolution and doesn't define the code well unless it's big. Sometimes it works, sometimes no. Ultimately, we've found them to be impractical and we advise against it because most motorists aren't prepared (or motivated) to capture it anyway.
  6. On this side of the pond the decision might be easy, lots and lots of employment opportunities and unemployment is at an historical low. If this scenario is the same where you are, take the money. With five or six months to find the right fit, the odds might be in your favor. You might even get to be selective.
  7. Even some nice boat colors. What's not to love about this? Well done.
  8. Amazing detail, and all scaled exactly right. Even the hinges are correct.
  9. You had me at 1965 Impala Convertible Advanced Custom. There is no way I could build in weeks what you build in a "long weekend." I need to be a fly on your wall to see what I'm not doing.
  10. Very impressive all around. The details look great.
  11. What I like about it is that it's clearly a home-built. Not a product of advanced metal smithing. Desire doesn't need a blank check and a staff of renown specialists. I'm sure the builder was pretty stoked about what he's got. That said, ...meh.
  12. I'm thinkin' man, I'm thinkin.'
  13. Almost ten years ago I was trying understand the plumbing of a Potvin blower. Here are 3D renderings that helped me grasp it better. Just came across them again so I thought I'd share. Internet find, not my renderings.
  14. Well, now you're speaking my language. This is what I do for a living. I didn't post here until I got back to the office after the holidays. There are darn few clients who want a simple, catchy billboard. They ALL say they do, but by the end of the process, they really want their logo, products they carry, multiple photos, co-op requirements, web site, phone number, "like us on Facebook," and all the other BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH that ruins billboards, muddies impact and forces motorists to ignore them because they don't want to work that hard to read an ad. Despite all that, here are a few I concepted and laid out that worked pretty well. Some are still too busy. This one was dictated fairly specifically by the client, I just had to find a way to make it work. This was a very rare case where the client wanted all impact and minimal message. Left it up to me to come up with ideas and graphics. This is another client who leaves it up to me to do his billboard branding and seems happy with whatever I come up with. This was a jewelry store that asks me to do retro designs, but doesn't like using photos so it never got printed but I still think it's a winner.
  15. NBC News did the finest and most thorough tribute I've seen all week and I recommend you watch it in full screen. It aired December 30th so it missed Barbara Walters and Pope Benedict. Compliments to the editors. https://www.nbc.com/nbc-nightly-news/video/in-memoriam-remembering-those-we-lost-in-2022/NBCN171301858
  16. OMG The Seekers. YES. Along with a few others, they were the soundtrack of my childhood and their music stirs wonderful memories. This week as news programs present memoriams to those who passed in 2022, Judith Durham has been featured. The clarity of her voice is like an angel, which this week has led me to sort of trash out on Seekers music I haven't listened to in decades.
  17. Great job in capturing the look. I love it!!
  18. So the voting poll couldn't be edited to include the other finishers? I've not checked the voter turnout, but if a third of the field is missing, could a new one be started and the old one voided? I'm not voicing any opinion, mind you, I'm just wondering if there are options or even if it's worth the trouble.
  19. That's very informative. I'd recommend that link be included in the 1:1 Reference Photos: section.
  20. I HATE not finishing, but that's what's going to happen for me this year. The '61 Ranchero was a great project that got stalled when the body paint got botched, which seldom happens to me. After that I never really returned to the bench so it will have to wait until I'm all jazzed up again. I like what I'm seeing among the rest of you scofflaws.
  21. Me and Ms. L switched to Verizon last year. Pricey, like all name brand services, but my incentive was a free Iphone SE, which I'm very happy with. So if I deduct the value of the phone (say, $500) then it comes out to be reasonable, for a while at least. When I visited Taiwan, cell service was a public utility for a pittance of what we pay here. For that reason, most (young) people had two or three cell phones.
  22. Having never seen it, I grew up with a disdain for this movie until my brother, a retired priest, recommended it as an excellent movie. HUH?! It's one of the darn few Hollywood movies where priests are portrayed as genuinely compassionate, smart and warm human beings who rely on their devotion to help them endure a terrifying task that they refuse to give up on when a life is at stake. Have yet to see a remake that has the same believability and it's that genuineness that makes it so chilling.
  23. In my mind, it was something biblical with a spiritual aura since everybody who saw it instantly recognized it and was moved and awestruck. Ringo: "Is that what I think it is?"
  24. Another Bill Hickman chase where he is basically the same guy he was in the black Charger.
  25. There is a saying in stage theater, "There are only 39 scripts. The rest are re-writes."
