I love to see what people do with found objects. So creative and your pieces look right at home at your place. Lamps and assemblage art are some of my other hobbies too.

Jo-Han '70 Oldsmobile Toronado

Your dash detail is incredible. I agree it's a good kit. -
Ah yes. Very good. Poor Mr. Zimmerman got fired from the band, but I still get a kick out of the idea of clean cut Vee and the Shadows trying to figure out this quirky and struggling piano player. Clearly the separation was monstrously beneficial to everyone involved, including rock and folk aficionados.

That very same event launched the career of hometown celeb Bobby Vee. Holly's plane was on its way here. When his plane went down Vee and his music friends and older brother stepped up to make sure the show went on. He was discovered and he went on to chart many hits in the early 60's.

I had to design a digital billboard for a car club (Jamestown Classic Car Club) and they didn't provide very good pics so I went to their Facebook page to see what other photos I could use and this one from a summer cruise came up. I don't know anything about it but I can't take my eyes off it. Hopefully it might inspire some of you others. Hope they don't mind if I share.

Ah yes, very good. I'd never seen that Hot Wheels car before. The similarities are quite apparent.

Missing some pieces there bud ? but that body paint is amazingly smooth for brush painted. Good job.

Whoa, very exciting! Any pics from before the primer? Wouldn't mind seeing how it came together.

Tamiya fine tape. I have many kinds of tape for different things but I've long since learned to spend the money for the fine edging tape. They know what they're doing.

Interesting texture on that trailer. Explain. I have a vintage lamp with that texture so I'm kind of curious.

I'm sad to hear of his passing too, but I get a certain consolation that he survived all his stunts and died of natural causes and not some self involved antic.

When our company was first requested to put a QR code on a printed billboard we weren't positive it would work, but we tested it and it worked. Then we were asked to put one on a digital billboard, which if you don't know, are very low resolution and doesn't define the code well unless it's big. Sometimes it works, sometimes no. Ultimately, we've found them to be impractical and we advise against it because most motorists aren't prepared (or motivated) to capture it anyway.

Needing some advice regarding employment
Lunajammer replied to stitchdup's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
On this side of the pond the decision might be easy, lots and lots of employment opportunities and unemployment is at an historical low. If this scenario is the same where you are, take the money. With five or six months to find the right fit, the odds might be in your favor. You might even get to be selective. -
A REALLY rear engine Corvair - unsafe at any depth!

Even some nice boat colors. What's not to love about this? Well done. -
Amazing detail, and all scaled exactly right. Even the hinges are correct.

You had me at 1965 Impala Convertible Advanced Custom. There is no way I could build in weeks what you build in a "long weekend." I need to be a fly on your wall to see what I'm not doing.

Very impressive all around. The details look great.

Well, now you're speaking my language. This is what I do for a living. I didn't post here until I got back to the office after the holidays. There are darn few clients who want a simple, catchy billboard. They ALL say they do, but by the end of the process, they really want their logo, products they carry, multiple photos, co-op requirements, web site, phone number, "like us on Facebook," and all the other BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH that ruins billboards, muddies impact and forces motorists to ignore them because they don't want to work that hard to read an ad. Despite all that, here are a few I concepted and laid out that worked pretty well. Some are still too busy. This one was dictated fairly specifically by the client, I just had to find a way to make it work. This was a very rare case where the client wanted all impact and minimal message. Left it up to me to come up with ideas and graphics. This is another client who leaves it up to me to do his billboard branding and seems happy with whatever I come up with. This was a jewelry store that asks me to do retro designs, but doesn't like using photos so it never got printed but I still think it's a winner.

NBC News did the finest and most thorough tribute I've seen all week and I recommend you watch it in full screen. It aired December 30th so it missed Barbara Walters and Pope Benedict. Compliments to the editors. https://www.nbc.com/nbc-nightly-news/video/in-memoriam-remembering-those-we-lost-in-2022/NBCN171301858
