  1. Brings new meaning to the term "World of Outlaws."
  2. At least you can take comfort in knowing your stash is being cared for by top men... Top. Men.
  3. Along with the classic artists, I also like 3D artist Sal Salvador's space rods. Mostly not practical, but like many concept cars, it's the style of the dream that counts.
  4. Those grills look so excellent, they frequently inspire me to build a '34 just to use one. Haven't done one yet, but that's all it takes for me.
  5. Seems to me these paint jobs are made gaudy with intent, sort of "in your face" extravagance. The intent is to blow your mind with artistry, talent and technique, where excess is a means to an end, which is a jaw dropping wow reaction. It's under rated as an art form and over rated as an automotive aesthetic. Truly, gallery quality work, but probably would not be respected outright in the arts community because it's too closely associated with the motor crowd. Shame.
  6. Great job, yes it almost looks real. Photos are very good too.
  7. Looks like you accomplished exactly what you were striving for. Nice conversion, the details really came through and you especially captured the "feel."
  8. I'd love to see a '72. My only hope would be that the body type is reaching a younger audience through recent video games and movies. If that helps keep it relevant and contemporary, maybe that will improve interest. I don't think R2 can count on sales among the long established builders alone to generate a profit.
  9. MPC - Model Products Company AMT - Aluminum Model Toys MRC - Model Rectifier Corporation Jo-Han - John Hanley
  10. Hmm. I've never seen one with no side trim and no padded half-roof. Learn something everyday.
  11. Which is why, with these plane becoming more precious every year, in the long run I think we're living in a slowly closing window of opportunity to see them flying at all. Knowing that, I've never appreciated them more, or as a friend says, "We've been taking them for granted."
  12. I'm definitely unmotivated and not building right now. But I'm not concerned and all my paints and tools remain on the bench because I know these things come and go. I've learned to let go and allow motivation take its ebbs and flows. It always comes back around, so I'll just wait for that warm glow to return and not fret over doing nothing. Until then, I get my quiet fix by staying connected here.
  13. For those of us not involved, tragic. For those who were involved, horrifying. In the 90's I drove 200 miles for the chance to see this plane and climb inside. Along with the Collings B-24, it was the first B-17 I'd ever seen in person and I didn't think another one would ever come up to North Dakota, so I shot a lot of film. I fully expect the ride policy to change in some way in the wake of this accident.
  14. Pretty much validates the adage, "What you loved as a child, you love your whole life."
  15. Another home run Steve. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
  16. Beautiful build. Great eye, paint control and craftsmanship on display here. Lovely pics too.
  17. Quite a handsome version of the subject. I'm undecided on the wheels, but I like the over-all fresh take.
  18. Some real jewels there. Beautiful work. Wish I could take a couple home.
  19. I've often heard this is a problem kit, but sometimes it seems irresistible. Since it's pretty much a fantasy car, it's less prone to rivet counting. You have my admiration for not only persevering through to the end but doing a fine job of it. I still dig it.
  20. Though I've not entered this year, I'm still lurking regularly so at this point I'm pretty sure I can look after the poll.
  21. You've made some smart choices and the end result is a beautiful, fresh look at an old kit. I don't think anyone could've done better. Nice work.
  22. The color of my 58 T-bird seemed too precious to cover so it got a good polish.
  23. I like everything about this kit. I'd love to see it rereleased in all it's glory.
  24. Just read this. What a bummer. He came around these parts about 18 years ago with Kris Kristofferson to make a film in ND. Wooly Boys was produced by a local ad/marketing executive. I helped my graphics partner design the billboard.
