  1. Lastly…no the doors won’t be opening. I have cut the doors open on so many projects over the years and love the way it enables a better view of the interiors. I know how much extra work and time it adds to a build. That said it figures that when i actually build a kit with opening doors what do I do?…..glue them shut! The method to my madness though is that with all the extra cutting I was going to do on the cab I just thought it would be too anemic to handle the stress…..especially that vintage Revell plastic. Can we say brittle?! I hated to glue them closed but I believe it was a wise move (at least for a klutz like me!
  2. I will take another shot sometime minus the distracting box in the background. I thought it was a cool idea when I saw other folks on here do the same but their photography looked much better than mine! Also all that masking tape looks awful!….Sorry.
  3. Hello friends, back in March one of my best friends passed some 1/25 and 1/24 kits and parts to me. Included was a Revell ‘29 Model A pickup which he had chopped ages ago. I have been fiddling bashing it with the bed and fenders/running boards from the AMT Ala-Kart. Said parts have been rather modified mostly by shaving trim and tail light blisters off the bed and removing Ala-Kart’s rear fenders and just piecing together new ones out of fenders from other kits in order to get them bobbed high so as to slam the ride height. Another friend gave me leftover parts from a Watson race car so I am using 2 of the tires from that kit for the rear rolling stock. Front tires are the often dreaded vintage Revell 2 piece units found in many of their funny cars and gassers. I have yet to settle on an engine and the floor of the cab must pretty much be scratched or bashed in order to channel the chassis up high. I’m thinking of scratching some quick and dirty compressed air bags for at least the rear suspension. I am thinking of using a frame from one of my unbuilt Revell 29 Pickups but it will have to be seriously modified. The way I have it set up now is I scratch built the rear frame from Plastruct and Evergreen rectangle but it is attached to the fender portion! From the rear frame rails forwards will be glued under the cab floor later. In other words the frame will be done in 2 sections….i kind of got myself in a bit of a pickle. I wish for the frame rails to be a different color than the fender assembly. I think I will just shoot the whole shebang whatever color I put on the fenders/body and then after the painted frame rails dry I will paint them by brush something easy to match like gloss black. Then I can spray paint the other frame piece which will get glued in later gloss black and it should match up pretty decently. lastly I’m leaning towards a steel color to represent bare metal. I may try to put a welding bead around the whole cab where it was chopped. I have some Archer weld bead resin decals but I think I want to try crimping very thin gauge solder to try to make it look like a weld. I’d probably have to epoxy it onto the cab. I don’t know for sure yet but I have long wanted a crazy looking A Bone pickup. Hope you like it and happy building friends!-Mark
  4. Thank you guys.
  5. This came from one of my best friends earlier this year. He gave it to me as a built up and it was missing some parts and had mismatched rear wheels, etc. i took the liberty to take it apart and give it a redo a few days ago. I only have two evenings invested in this, and as you look at it, you can tell that’s the case! In fact, you probably wonder why it took me so long to build this piece of junk! It was mainly an opportunity to use up some tires and wheels annd engine that have just been languishing in my junkyard boxes. The Zinger kits came with engines that I put around 1/20 scale, but theHemi in this one was missing a valve cover. I decided tone down the size a little bit to 1/25 scale because it’s still be ridiculously big and I was able to use up a cool blown small block Chevy built up frim my junkyard. I did add the headers from Tom Daniel.Bad Medicine painted with Mirror Chrome Spaz Stix. I know the rear tires are Monogram , but I’m not sure what the rear wheels are from. Theycame from a late friend’s collection and I’m not sure what he sprayed the wheels with, but I’m guessing it was some kind of “chrome” paint . One of the front wheels was missing the outer rim so I just cut up a piece of plastic tubing that was roughly the same diameter and I painted those with chrome silver trim Model Master paint. Not really happy with the results… Heck, I’m not really happy with the results on the entire build and I’m almost embarrassed to post it here. But hopefully at least one person gets a kick out of it. The paint is Faskolor Fascescent Red applied with a brush. Future floor wax was also applied with a brush. I’ll probably give it one more coat. . I didn’t take this thing seriously …it was just a little too cool to just throw away and it gave me an opportunity to use up some parts. The body was glued to the chassis so I chose to brush paint it because I really didn’t care enough about the project to try to unglue the body. Not to mention it seemed like the original builder used some astronomically strong glue. Anyhow hopefully my next completion will be a little higher quality than this lol. Nevertheless, like I say, I hope it gives somebody a good laugh, whether they’re laughing with me or at me! -Mark
  6. Great work Hector and I love the T Bird too!
  7. This is awesome Ron! Very nice work. One thing that always amazed me is that no one in the family got up and hid or fled. I mean that Marlin 336 rifle had to sound like a cannon in the house. It has been speculated that supernatural forces either helped suppress the noise or prevented the family from fleeing. I don’t necessarily 100% buy that but it is strange. Anyhow again stellar work and a great time of year to build this! Happy Halloween and happy building Ron.- Mark
  8. Rich this is a well built replica of your super bad machine! I love Demons, Dusters and Darts. I bet you embarrassed a lot of big blocks with this combination.
  9. RRR this is stunning work as usual!
  10. Joe you upped the classiness of this kit with your color choice IMO! Fantastic job.
  11. Scott, I believe you’re correct.
  12. Ted’s Modelling Marketplace has these. Sorry I don’t have a link.
  13. Steve your skills are amazingly impressive for someone away from the hobby 3 decades! And a big shoutout to Duane for encouraging you to post. I second his comment….welcome back. .- Mark
  14. The model and display are both righteously well done Anton!
  15. Hakan your weathering is amazing as ncbuckeye stated. Also the more I look the more details I see. Fantastic work!
  16. Great work as always Ken!
  17. Tom this is a drastic improvement! Very cool idea and very well executed. AMT and MPC had some neat drag car kits but the chassis and engines were often lackluster or just plain inaccurate. And the AMT Nova body was fiddly with those separate fenders. Again great job. -Mark
  18. Kenneth this is a great display! I can smell the nitro from here.- Mark
  19. Wow this is cool Hien!
  20. Wow Racine that is a lot of nice work!
  21. Carl it is a Jordan Playboy which was not actually produced in 1:1 as far as I know. There was a 1933 Jordan Playboy which I have attached a photo of. I don’t mean to hijack Paul’s thread and he actually posted a thread a couple years ago featuring this and other kits made by Renwal. Paul I’m sure you can tell Carl more than I can but I’ll take a quick stab. Carl I believe Chrysler designer Virgil Exner designed several old classic cars as he thought they might look if they were still made in 1966. Renwal kitted up a number of his designs. Paul can help us out as to just how many but for years I thought they did 4 of his designs but I believe it was closer to 7. I believe a couple of his designs were built in 1:1. I remember a Stutz Blackhawk It was not identical but was quite similar to the Stutz Bearcat 1966 design which was one of the Renwal kits. I believe Elvis owned a Blackhawk and Hot Wheels did a Blackhawk. Blackhawk was not produced until 4 years or so after Exner’s 1966 design. Again sorry for ransacking the thread. Hope this helps Carl and Paul I love your project. I shall follow!-Mark
  22. Juergen du bist ein toller Modellbauer! This is fantastic craftsmanship. Frohliches bauen! (My German is awful! I haven’t spoken it often since I left Germany. I lived near Stuttgart for 2 years 1985-1987. - Mark
