Model factory hiro Porsche 935/78
Brudda replied to Brudda's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Finally painted the chassis. Fitting the rear engine and trans. A lot of masking of the chassis tubes. They are going to be the same color as the wheels. -
Boy this one hits me in the head. It really depends on your situation. Only you know that. I’ll tell you my story, might help, might not . Health insurance is very important! It has helped immensely. Had a stroke around 15 years ago. Took 6 months to recover that one. Had prostate cancer just 1 year ago. Took 6 weeks to heal for that one. My insurance took care of most of it. Now I have 3 paid off houses all over the country. The house I’m in now is 1.1 million worth. But will go fast if you have to go to the hospital. I’m 68 and just took my social security. That’s $ 3146 a month. My income from my rentals are good. Taxes are to think about. I paid $23,000 last year. Because I’m still working plus rental income plus social security. So think about taxes. I like to travel but have 2 passports full of places my wife and I have went. When the world loved Americans. She now has a bad back so traveling now is out of the question. I really love my work. It’s like modeling 1:1. So I’ll work as long as my body allows it. Don’t really need the money but boredom and standing still will kill you. 8 out of my 10 friends died within 2 years after retirement. Sitting around kills you. The other two friends keep real active traveling, working on something and just moving. This is my story hope it helps.

Thank you Claude. That was one of my experiments on this kit. I sprayed them with citadel grey primer. Then tamiya spray can white. Then sprayed a brown citadel brown wash to highlite the curve in the pipes. It reacted like burned paint. I then airbrushed tamiya white in certain areas to get the brown wash calmed down. I’m very happy with the results. I’m behind schedule on the Porsche. I need to get art cardboard to fab out the rear wing on the 935

Thoughts and ideas that hold forever true..........

You only have to be 10 percent smarter than the thing you’re working on to have success. This is why it takes me along time to make a model. -
That’s totally cool!!!!!

The poor Honda had a traveling problem. I took her to one of our model meetings and during the ride the right rear suspension broke. So it did not even come out of the box. Took her home for repairs and found out that both front shocks and the upper suspension arm broke. Took it apart and put very small brass rods to reinforce the parts. And CA with activator. The Tamiya suspension could not hold the mfh parts. Too heavy. But it’s now fixed and traveled to my friend Marks house to test shipment. / travel. It passed and all is good. I can now take her to the NNL West.

Cool little pinto. In 1985 I needed a car for work. I had a friend that works in the post office. They had over 100 pintos they were auctioning off. All white with a 2.3 and automatic. Service records were on the front seat. It had 35,000 miles and I bought it for $800. Had that car for over 12 years. Put over 100,000 miles and she was still running strong. I could leave the keys in her as no one would steal her. I donated that car to a couple in church one day. They had it for at least 5 years. I really liked that car. I had to buy the amt kit. It’s a 77 but it’s close enough to my 80. I remember putting away $300 a month for 12 years like a car payment. Then I had enough to buy a car cash. Never had a car payment since.

What is your Favourite Classic Car?

Seriously, I was a kid riding my bike with my cousin on sunset boulevard and saw the most stunning car ever. We sat by the car and a guy came out and said please don’t touch the car. We said ok and this is the coolest car ever. We just sat there and looked at the car. We never saw anything like it before. Then I saw it in motortrend magazine. Here is the pic in the magazine. The color is fly yellow. Oh and the car is beautiful also. -
Are model kits toys. ?

This is also my toy. All in definition. I love toys, all kinds. I could care less what people think. -

Fitting the engine and trans. I will be painting the chassis a light pearl blue with the tubes orange. So this will take awhile. A lot of masking. All of the tubes will be painted orange. I believe this will make the engine compartment and interior look very cool. A lot of work but I believe it will be worth it. Claude made a great suggestion on the rear shape of the rear wheel opening. Make it more round like the front. I am going to do this as it will make the body look more uniform. There is a lot of room to cut the rear. But I’m going to lake a different rear wing and see if that will make it look better. Claude suggested that if I shape the wing to conform to the body it might make it look better. I’ll try that before I cut her apart. Thank you Claude for the great ideas. I knew the design studio would come thru with great ideas. -

Since it’s a “ what if build”, I was looking at the rear of the car and the wing and long tail just looks odd to me. So I asked Claude for some tips to make it look better as a model. So I will be experimenting with cardboard paper to see how it looks. Maybe that’s why they called her Moby dick. -
I saw this and bought it today. it looked cool. Totally resin and curbside. Has photoetch and aluminum parts. Tires are rubber. Strange only one door opens. I have never seen this kit or the company before. The resin has a few pin holes but things seem to fit good. 1/24
