  1. This thread sure has taken on a life of its own!
  2. I seem to remember that, too.
  3. Thanks. I just swapped the kit engine for a Flathead V8 from another modeler. Gave him the wheels & tires, too.
  4. You can add me to the "Failed Miserably" column.
  5. And color photography in the 1970s wasn't all that great, either. I've seen photos of the same aircraft that you'd sware that they were different aircraft because of the color differences in the photographs.
  6. Maybe it's just me, but I find the Dupli-Color Detroit Diesel Alpine Green too dark for the older engines.
  7. Yes, that is true. My mistake. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Forest_Service
  8. Testors Model Masters RLM Grun 62 is very close as well.
  9. KJ from Double Take Replicas offers the correct 8V92 valve covers. I have some, and they are quite nice. http://kdhumphr.wixsite.com/double-take-replicas/product-page/detroit-diesel-8v92-valve-covers
  10. The debate on that continues. Some people say 8V71T, others say 8V92T.
  11. Thanks, Jeff. I was attaching the front fenders to the IVECO, and the drivers seat popped loose! In order to repair that, I had to get the interior out of the cab. Not so easy with an Italeri multi-piece cab. Also, not sure how I'm going to get it back in, now. USFS is United States Forest Service. It's part of the Department of the Interior.
  12. Chris does great work. I've had the pleasure of seeing most of his mixers in person.
  13. Nice looking Diamond Reo. Well done.
  14. That would be awesome! Wonder if Round2 knows about it?
  15. The 8V71T is in the AMT Kenworth Aerodyne kit.
  16. Good luck with your build. Stuffing a 8V71T under there should be interesting.
  17. The information that I have shows that the kit is a 1971-73 White-Freightliner WFT7564T. As to the Detroit Diesel 8V71T, most heavy trucks could be spec'd out with whatever engine you wanted. The kit's (I believe) is a Cummins NH250.
  18. A little more progress today on the frame & engine.
  19. Thanks. I guess Revell thought the custom look would appeal to the younger crowd. They did it with the 1950 Ford F1 as well, but at least the 1941 Chevrolet can be built completely stock. I don't think the Ford F1 can (incorrect engine).
  20. Thanks, Henry. No, the deck plate & steps are Dupli-Color Bumper Chrome paint. The ladder & basket are Dupli-Color Aluminum engine paint.
  21. So, after my disaster with the IVECO-Magirus, I needed a quick build. So I picked the Revell 1941 Chevrolet Pickup. I'm hoping to finish it as a USFS truck. Here is where I am now:
  22. Thanks, Gator; but unfortunately this one is fighting me to the end. I was trying to permanently mount the front fenders to the cab, and the drivers seat popped off! Then to fix that, I had to just about disassemble the cab. So close, and yet so far! I really don't have any idea how I'm going to get the interior back into the cab without completely destroying it.
