  1. Absolutely gorgeous!
  2. I have used the gun in the picture. It is not a true HVLP gun, even though it says that on the packaging. I have not painted a model with it yet, but was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked for touching up cabinets. I was using latex house paint, and it atomized nicely. The fan and paint controls worked fine. I used a regular compressor at about 40 psi. For model car bodies, I think you would have to close down the paint supply, and probably reduce the pressure. Even then, I suspect it would be closer to a rattle can than an airbrush. The trick would be using low enough pressure to get good control, while still getting good atomization. The cup holds several ounces of paint, way more than would be needed for a 1/25 car body. All that said, I do intend to try it for models. If you beat me to it, I would be very interested in your report on how it works. I think it might be really good for larger scale cars, and if I ever build my 1/72 scale B-52, I will see how it works using several bottles of Metalizer!
  3. Cool! I wish my Focus would do that!
  4. Nicely done! The colors look great, and cool photos.
  5. Really well done! A masterpiece.
  6. Very nicely done! I did the '56, these kits are such a pleasure to build.
  7. Thanks, Ron! Thanks, Tom! One cool thing about this kit is that the side glass frames, and the doors are all separate pieces. So it could be built several different ways, from a completely open "pickup", to fully enclosed as I have done. With a little effort it could be done as a half cab or a panel truck. One of these followed me down the road yesterday. I wanted to pull the guy over and ask him a million questions. I haven't seen one in a very long time.
  8. A definite Darwin Award candidate.
  9. Steve, it's hard to say what method will work best for you, perhaps Christian's suggestion using the tip of your finger. I use the Sharpie and gel pens by lightly touching the letter. There should be lots of places online that have them, but one is dickblick.com. Look for "Gelly Roller" pens, and metallic Sharpies. They also have the Molotow chrome pens everyone has been raving about. I don't know how far "Podunk" is from a craft store (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc.), but they should have the Sharpies and gel pens as well.
  10. Thanks for that heads up, Peter. I have a bunch of ink jet paper, but I will get some laser/ Alps paper for my Alps printer.
  11. Really cool idea and very well executed! I want one in my driveway along with my flying car.
  12. Your inkjet printer would work, with some limitations: 1. You can't print white. 2. If you print on clear decal paper, the body color will show through the decal, unless the body color is white. 3. If you print on white decal paper, the separations between the stripes will be white, instead of body color. If option 3 won't work for you, I agree with David that masking and painting is your best bet.
  13. Thanks, Chris! No particular reason. It fits good that way and looks OK to me. Thanks, Gator!
  14. BTW, if anybody wants the hippie decals for this thing, let me know, I'll never use them.
  15. Thanks, Dann! I can't believe the prices they're asking for this kit. When I bought this one, I thought it was just another kit. Now I feel really lucky. I hope you can find a good deal on one.
  16. Oh! Bleeping bleep! That fellow seems to have a limited vocabulary. It does look like tons of fun, tho.
  17. Thanks, JT! Thanks, Scott! Most of the dust is Testors paint, a mix of flat brown and flat white. It was very thin, and I set the airbrush so almost none came out. That way I could build it slowly, and add more in some areas than others. I also used a Vallejo gray wash, and little spots of Tamiya smoke. The final touches were done with ground up pastel powders.
  18. Thanks, David! The kit came with that roof rack. I either had to leave it off or put something in it.
