  1. Thanks Joe, that is ok everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion. It is a shame that someone would say a project that isn't completed doesn't look like something when they aren't aware just how much time and effort someone has put into a project just to get it to this point. "THEMAN", I appreciate you being honest and providing your feedback on the project that isn't even 1/2 completed. However if you would like to be more of a PRODUCTIVE part of the forum and not only help myself but others as well. I would suggest that when you provide feedback, and you feel something doesn't look like what you think it should look like, maybe you should ask the person or provide what you think needs to be changed. How is anyone suppose to learn from their mistakes, not saying that I have made any at this point... Unless I am not aware of them, and no one has spoken up... if this isn't the case. PLEASE feel free to speak up! You won't hurt my feelings. I unfortunately, don't have the opportunity to work on my projects as often as I would like due to traveling for work and have not had the opportunity to provide any further updates or work on my next modifications to the body.
  2. Derrick, Greg thanks for the praise it does have quite a ways to go and it still looks a bit funny with the wedge the way the last picture is taken. I have made some slight but positive changes to the wedge and the front leading edge of that wheel well... The funny thing is that based on a 90 degree it is straight up and down, but yet in the picture it looks like it angles forward. A unique optical illusion, I would guess so I have tweaked the front edge outward to make it look like it is straighter. I am sure you both have been around a Pro Mod Vette or two.... any suggestions on the A-Pillar and how to go about reshaping the front facing part?
  3. You have to contact Jim directly and if you provide him with a picture of what you want, he can probably turn it for you. They would be custom one off and then available for others to purchase as well.
  4. Wayne you are correct, TEM did sell/make bodies due to you doing the hard work. It was my understanding that the thread had to do with Current sites with Resin Parts/Bodies available, so I would think this would immediately remove TEM from this equation. I like many others have fallen to the health issues that Chris is faced with and have paid for product and been without for over a year. I was one of many that had a Pre Order in for the 68 Firebird Pro Mod car and other parts that were originally in production at one point for 1/24th scale. Unfortunately I have to chalk it up as a loss of my money, but that is neither here nor there and definitely not your problem or anyone else but my own due to the decision I made in trying to wait it out. You are very correct Flashpoint at this current time is the only place to purchase Pro Mod bodies that are of any resemblance of a real 1:1. But I think it is pretty raw that a product would be put out by someone that is less than accurate be it a body or parts for that matter. In addition to make a profit off of others that do not know the difference because they are either unaware or have no other choice but to purchase the item if they don't know how to make the part from scratch. I couldn't find an accurate 63 Corvette Pro Mod body in 1/16th scale, so... I set out and currently building my own Pro Mod vette using accurate dimensions of the 1:1 Pro Mod body. The 1/16th Camaro body sells for $167.00, so it isn't a body for just everyone to go out and purchase, I am sure that if the 1/24th body was uploaded it would be more reasonable, but would think that it probably wont be in the same price as any current Resin Body due to being made on a 3D printing machine. If you click on the link within the TDR site, it will take you over to the Shapeway's site so you can see the price of the item. You do have to take into consideration that the body is the same thickness throughout the entire body and even has the recessed area for flush windows all doors are cut out and even the front clip is the proper width, so no cutting or having to widen it due to cutting it from the main body to fit accurately like you may need to do with a Resin Body.
  5. I read today over in the General Section, he is getting out from under that project and moving on... Probably because he just plopped down some cash on his new 69 camaro project. It is a sad day for sure, because just the couple of pages that I was reading up on it, ROM was doing some killer work on it to look like the newer Kenworth like in the TV series Wrecked for O'Hare Towing.
  6. Ok ROM, if you are going to go whole hog on that baby..... I will be looking for you to step it up into Over Drive for this next build! LOL... if that is even possible, you do some pretty amazing stuff. Especially with this new venture of yours into Brass. I read you have a Mill... you need to break that out and start cutting some scale stuff on it! Not just 1:1 stuff. I have been thinking about biting the bullet and getting a Sherline Mill and using Dave's tried and true technique on wheels. Maybe with the Camaro, I might have to spend some extra moohlaahh and get me one.
  7. I wish that was the case, not sure if it is though. Just looking at the 1/12 and the 1/16 it is more than double the cost, based on your thought process. I would say it isn't necessarily the materials that is driving up the cost. It almost looks like it has something to do with the equipment/Time equivalent consumption costs that it takes to print out the part in the 3D printer. But I know nothing about this whole 3D process, but I bet DOM sure could shed some light, as it sounds like he works with this type of equipment day in and day out. I have to agree they are a very good company and willing to listen to the Modeler and the modelling community. I think it sure is cool that you are even working on some things for the rest of us! Now back to the Thread... come on Dave we want to see some more updates on this BEAST!
  8. Ok, so just to make sure, this build consists of the 69 Revell Nova kit, the Revell Chi-town Hustler and the 55 Chevy Pro Sportsman kits? Man... $60 just in Kits... how many of these kits do you have laying around? I take it then for the Motor you are using the Ross Gibson Sonny's Mountain Thunder motor or one of the Semi Hemi's all to the hilt with NOS then?
  9. Man Tyrone, I am just extremely impressed with your work on these little cars! You have me wanting to go out and buy the main box models to do one up just like this... Wanna sell me what you have completed thus far?! This way I don't have to run to the local Hobby Store and buy the 3 models to do this... Keep up the Awesome work, excited to see how this one turns out as well.... like I even need to worry how it is going to turn out though!
  10. I am also one that just purchased the 1/16th body, it may be expensive but it will be well worth the price knowing it is true to scale and an accurate reproduction of today's Pro Mod bodies. As for what Rom stated about the Flashpoint parts... I am right there with him. I have many parts from them, that are now sitting in a box unused due to not being accurately scaled or due to poor resin quality.
  11. That is correct, they do make parts in 1/24 and 1/25 scale, but they cater to the larger crowd. As for the 1 Pro Mod body, that will be the most accurate body out right now... Any of the other sites that produce Pro Mod bodies, they are not accurate by any means. If you see something in the larger scale and they don't have it in just send TIM an email and I am sure if it is possible they will scale the part down to 1/24th for you.
  12. I don't necessarily Congratulate someone for their birthday, but do "Wish" them a Happy Birthday. What are you congratulating them for being born? If that is the case, I think my mother would have turned the rock back over that I came from underneith... lol
  13. Wow... that is steep... no wonder it is called the "Big Boyz Club!" even I was still off by $300. Well I wonder if they will be doing the 1/8 body in parts to make it less painfull? IE: Nose one price, Body one price and decklid and doors another price or something like that? The 1/16th is $176.45 shipped to my door... Now the wait begins....can't wait to get this puppy in my hands! It is expensive, but it is a NO Brainer I had to plop the money down for this baby... knowing it is to scale is just going to be incredible!
  14. Great point Dave, that makes sense... I never did like geometry and angles. Hated doing actuated trunk lids and stuff for car stereos because of this specific reason.
  15. Yep angle the front edge of the front clip on the inside, and then feather the outside edge on your door. See if this helps before you have to move your hinge points.
  16. Joe show me a pic of the front clip, I want to see that leading edge where it meets the door. Have you thinned it down as well?If this hasn't been done this may be your issue. You can thin the outside edge of the door (leading edge) just enough to feather it so it doesn't show... There are a few tricks you can do body wise. I can't tell, it may be the angle in which the pic was captured, but you may have hinge issues. Based on the picture it looks like your hinge may be a bit off and it is letting your door sag causing the bottom leading edge to kick forward and hit the front clip when it opens up....
  17. Yep TDR has the smaller scale stuff as well.
  18. Sorry about that... For anyone else interested. https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/ Shortly they will even have a scale 69 Chevy Camaro pro mod in scales ranging from 1/43 all the way up to 1/8"..
  19. Sorry what is the question? Are you asking what parts? For starters the mocked BAE block, heads the bell housing and the lenco tranny. If they were cast from one of the 1/16 diecast that may be the problem to begin with. Don't get me wrong the parts look the part and will work for what most will want them for. But if someone is looking for accurate scale parts, they may want to look elsewhere.
  20. Well I wouldn't consider flashpoint stuff to be accurate or best quality by any means, because the stuff is not accurate, but that is me. I would rather send you to the TDR/shapeways site. They are quality stuff and very accurate scale reproduction parts!
  21. Jack pretty much laid it out for you, my other suggestion would be to use Reference Photos. This way you can actually see the different patterns in the Blower Hat. Most companies will not lay the carbon in one direction, by going in different directions it strengthens the overall part once built up in 1:1.
  22. That should roughly put you where you need to be, by doing that. Actually some Pro Mod's do cut into the firewall/windshield for the 16-71 or 18-71 Roots Blower to set back a bit. I would need to check out your reference photo. The other thing is possibly your doors on the FC body are shorter than what they actually would be on a Pro Mod. You can scale these out and check to make sure.
  23. Jack... Not sure if you are using specific requirements, but most pro mods run the maximum required length as much as possible due to the power they make. Because of this everyone run the 115" center to center. Some will run 112 but not many. I like that duster funny car it almost fits the bill. Just need to adjust the length, nose requirements and you should be good to go.
  24. Man this is just crazy all that wiring going everywhere... makes my head swim.
  25. Great job on the cutting of the front clip.... it is a tedious job but a gratifying one when completed. I do have to ask, you cut the hole in the hood already, was this a used hood from something else or did you preemptively make the cut without knowing where it needs to be? I would have thought you would have waited until the block was mounted, this way you would have know where you need to cut and just how big.
