We had a huge artificial Christmas tree we hadn’t used in a long while. Since we live 100 miles west of family and friends, we just set up a table top tree and visit my daughters for the holidays. My wife got in her head that we should throw out the tree! It had been in the basement for years so I don’t know why it needed to go right now! I look at it and cannot bring myself to throwing away a perfectly good tree. I decide to put it for free in my local Next Door app. Easy enough, someone should cart it off and use it so I don’t feel guilty, and it’s gone so wife will be happy. As anticipated nine people responded. The first one was a young woman. She wants it, great! The next day she informs me that her car has died. Can I hold it until next week? No we need it gone! My wife said to go in to the next person, but the girl sounded excited so I asked her if I could drop it off to her. I’m figuring this is a town app so how far can it be? And someone else did the same for me awhile back when I bought a cabinet from them and it wouldn’t fit in my car. Turns out she lives about 20 minutes away. I figure I’m in it this deep already so okay. She is thrilled and offers me gas money which I decline. So Thursday morning I load this huge flimsy box into my car.. it nearly didn’t fit! And drop it off on her front step. That night I get the nicest text that it had been a tough year for them and I really made her family’s Christmas! That made me feel really good!

I’m babysitting the grands while my daughter and husband took a weekend to celebrate her 40th birthday i was instructed to feed them pizza and the menu was on the kitchen bulletin board. I order thinking the bill was around $32 and was surprised at $45! So I grabbed a menu from the counter to take home. Sure enough the prices were up some 20%.

In theory the AMT body should just plop onto the Revell chassis but it depends on how accurate each company was! Worth a test fit for sure! -

We have the Sleep Number mattresses too! Love being able to change the settings. -

While talking about the post office, do not buy those discount stamps advertised just about everywhere. Those are Chinese counterfeits and most of them don't have the coating that the postal equipment uses to identify stamps. Thus they won't work and USPS says they'll just toss your mail away!

Great model! And here on the other side of the pond, my daughter bought a new 2012 Fiat 500. Her's is white with a beige convertible top and interior. She took care of it all these years, driving it 140,000 miles without any major issues. She now has an 8 month old daughter, and got the mom car Honda CRV. The Fiat hung around for a while, but she finally made the decision to sell it. She and her husband detailed it and managed to get $5000 for it! It was sold to an older couple. The wife had a very similar car that was recently totaled and wanted to replace it. On to a new appreciative owner!

Wow Ron! I'm very happy the whole thing worked out and nobody was injured or killed. Big thanks to the nephew who spotted it! And thank you for posting it! You may have saved another family! -
Friendly loveable Squirrels..
Tom Geiger replied to A modeler named mike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Many years ago when I was still in New Jersey we had a lot of squirrels in our yard. We had all glass on the back wall of our kitchen and you could watch them run up and down the length of the fence all day long. My Aussie friends were rather spooked with the "rats" as they called them, and our nonchalant attitude towards squirrels. They estimated there were hundreds of them! Later we had a very cold winter. There was a squirrel nest way up high in a tree out back. It got so cold that they chewed their way into my attic straight through an aluminum vent! We knew they were in the attic because they'd run around over our heads all night long. I got an exterminator who came and placed a cage on the roof right above the damaged vent. He told me not to fix the hole until he got them all. He said they were naturally inquisitive and would investigate the trap. And he was right. In the course of a week we caught 6 squirrels. Then nothing. We sealed up the attic. And the spooky thing was that we didn't see any squirrels at all on the fence. Not a single one! So figure that those hundreds of squirrels were these six appearing over and over! -

We had a good time. I didn’t bring any models to show but my friend Bill surprised me by putting one out on the primer table. i was a bit concerned that these two were parked outside all day! Do we have that reputation? Otherwise my crew hit the Imperial Diner as we do every show! And we had a nice relaxing day talking to folks we know. Exactly what we go to events for! i was hoping to meet Ron but the car trouble made him late. -
Funny thing, I couldn’t find them locally at all! I wanted a few and finally got one to add to my postal fleet ( it’s that stamp collector thing). I could use a few more for the decal sheets to do other postal vehicles.

My wife was haunting me to get a flu and Covid shots. So I went to pharmacy on Sunday. They didn’t have the Covid shot so I just got the new enhanced flu shot for old folks. Ling story short, I got hit hard with flu and cold symptoms and haven’t felt well since. This morning I’m feeling well enough to do Thanksgiving but what a hassle!
