That would probably work! Car modelers are a very small niche market. There are many more Coke, TV and movie memorabilia collectors out there. Tom Lowe has been very astute in licensing and marketing to the broader markets.

Elky looks great! I've been itching to build one for years!

Blame eBay not the sellers! The eBay shipping calculator is a horrible thing. And now with this controlled International shipping program (Sellers ship their orders to a US hub, then eBay ships to the specified country), costs have gotten out of control. Setting up shipping preferences in eBay is a mess. And when my fixed price items (Buy It Now) renew every 30 days, their program will arbitrarily change my shipping terms, inserting a bogus package size.

That is a cool series. Makes ya wonder if any molds survive? Great build! You never see those built!

My wife used to work in HR for a school bus company. Nearly everyone in the company had their CDL and school credentials. When the day got rough everyone in the office went out and did routes. There were days when hardly anyone was in the office! She wasn't about to learn to drive a bus in her sixties!

Today I was reading the eBay Board and a lady came there for help. She said she found a 2005 Honda on Facebook Marketplace for $1000. The seller told her that eBay would complete the transaction and to buy $1000 worth of eBay gift cards. She transmitted the numbers to them. She thought all was well until the scammer came back and wanted another $1000 for shipping. Sad part was that she borrowed the $1000 to buy her son a car so he could get to work. The folks on the board had to explain to her what had occurred. I feel bad for her, kinda bummed my day!

Interesting conversation! As said, if I sit down at the computer and have earned the skills to design in 3D, I would consider it scratch building. It doesn't matter that the it is output through a device... aka the printer. I don't see this as much different than someone who designs machined parts on a lathe. Note that there are NC driven lathe's that will "print" on the aluminum. Same with decals. If I design the decals, and print it on decal paper, those are indeed my original art. All of the above take advantage of technology as it has emerged. Just like drafting and art has been enhanced by CAD and graphics programs. In my business of facility design, nobody has ever said a floor plan wasn't mine because I designed it on CAD rather than on a drafting board. My own thought is "has new technology made things too easy?" I remember back when I wanted specific graphics on a model and I had to piece together parts from different decal sheets. The last time I did decals, designing what I needed in PowerPoint, it was too easy! And I got exactly what I wanted, VS settling for what I could find. Same with 3D printing. I've scratch built a lot of things in plastic. I've created parts by combining plastic shapes from my junk box with bits of plastic sheet. I've made entire bodies. On the last one I did, shown below, scratch built the body, all the while thinking this would be easier to draw and print! Thoughts?

I'm a Taunus fan too! And that's a really nice two door. Maybe the V4 engine! I remember those when I lived in Germany from 1969-72. Back in the 1970s there was one running around the area near Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. No doubt brought home by a US military person. They had to remove the pretty headlights and shoved round sealed beam ones in the holes to pass US inspection! Looked awful! -

For those of you who didn't know Donn, he was a nice sincere fellow. He sang Karaoke, played softball and was the toast of the party the night before NNL East. I truly will miss hoisting a few beers with him!

A while back there was an aftermarket company that did that! Anyone remember? Are they around any more? -
Funny thing... I hadn't seen this thread for a while. When I clicked on it, this picture was the first thing I saw. I sat and admired the start of a great weathered paint job until I realized what was going on! ?
