  1. Art Laski’s son lives in the area so we asked him for a recommendation on a restaurant with an interesting automotive theme. He recommended the Garage Grille! Didn’t disappoint! It was pretty cool ?
  2. And when we saw mountains we drove there! We went up into the snow. The road showed as coming down the other side but we came to a roadblock with about two feet of snow behind it. This is what Waze shows when you reach the top of the mountain.
  3. While out in Salt Lake for the final GSL, the event has always ended with an awards brunch on Sunday morning. That left most of the day to explore with the rental car. Over the years we have pointed the car in all directions, starting with a trip to Bonneville and Wendover, Nevada. Other years we went to Idaho and Wyoming and out on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. This year my traveling buddy Bill noticed there was a car museum in Sandy Utah so we decided to check it out. Turns out it was an interest concept. With shopping malls in decline, they occupied the entire first floor of a former anchor store, with minimal upgrades. The cars were all owned by local collectors. They also had another location in Provo, so with a full afternoon on our hands we drove there as well. Same mall concept there too. The photos are from both locations.
  4. Looks nice! I have his 78 Corolla Deluxe wagon and it’s wonderful! He’s one of the few printers who supply the interior and other needed parts. My Corolla even had a chassis and everything fits super! God bless the Ukraine. I hope he and his family stay safe!
  5. Bingo! This was the same response I got when I suggested charging a while back. Last year a similar site for stamp collectors decided to charge a membership fee. They lost 3/4 of the members. The best thing you can do to support this site is to pay for a subscription to the magazine!
  6. “Mate, over here”, called my Aussie friend when he saw me across the auditorium.
  7. Because they decline to accept payment! I have voted with my wallet. I am a magazine subscriber, unlike a lot of the complainers.
  8. Yup it’s me at Crown Burger in Salt Lake City. It’s a GSL tradition!
  9. I have left the ads visible because the income is important to the site. Just remember there are folks you could feed free steak dinners, and they’d complain about it!
  10. eBay has always been chasing Amazon's tail and they'll never catch it!
  11. Funny thing... back when the Foose series was announced there was a lot of moaning in the community! People were upset that Revell was bringing out customs you couldn't do anything with, instead of a 1951 Hoosit that they personally wanted to see kitted. And interesting how many ways we have figured out how to build them!
  12. This poll is still up and active! Are you still looking at new data?
  13. Saw this in a restaurant parking lot in Maryland where we lunched during the MidAtlantic NNL Neat WWII era Jeep I saw in Utah Need I say more? Outside the hotel in Salt Lake City A study in weathering.. I might just try to duplicate the paint job. It’s how trucks wear out west.. from the top down.. east coast trucks rust from the bottom up!
  14. Seclusion is achieved by going into the model room and locking the door
  15. Where I will spend much of my summer
  16. Ah Gotcha! Not exactly what you were expecting? I did build a Foose Ford pickup and was so impressed with how well it went together, I envisioned the chassis under other trucks. When I had the need to build something Japanese for the Diversified Scalers Diorama, I thought "why not?" The Foose chassis was a little too long and a little two wide... otherwise perfect! I added the wheel wells from the Dodge D50 pickup kit and they fit pretty well. On this kit, the bed clips into the back of the cab which really helped get it sitting right on the chassis I did shorten the chassis, drive shaft and exhaust a bit to fit. I didn't narrow the chassis or wheels at all. The flares covered them well. I did the shortening right behind the master cylinder, as you can see the two cross bars are pretty close. The toughest part of this build was carving out the interior floor, and creating a new transmission hump.
  17. On the Foose pickup the glass fits very well, in fact too well. It snaps in place as a unit. During my test fit, I couldn't get the glass to come back out! Be careful!
  18. Peter was my turtle’s name when I was a child
  19. Chevelle is an American rock band formed in Grayslake, Illinois, in 1995.
  20. Kit Carson received little formal education and remained nearly illiterate his entire life, so kit directions would have been useless!
