I stopped into one of those chain drug stores to buy Motrin for my wife. There is one cashier, a guy about our age. Of course there is a line. There are two self service registers. One is marked out of order. There is a lady ahead of me at the cash register and is being taken care of. Self service register starts beeping. Guy leaves the register to go fix it. Self service lady finishes her purchase and he goes back to helping the lady ahead of me. Self service lady tries to leave store and whatever she bought sounds off the theft alarm at the door. Lone cashier takes off the handle that. He fiddles with what she bought, finally gives up and tells her to just leave as the alarm blares. He gets back to the register. He finishes up with the lady in front of me. My turn. So I thought. Lady exclaims, "I forgot I had a coupon!" Cashier explains that he would have to void the sale and start over. She goes for that. It takes time. She leaves. My turn. Nope, an old lady is at the self service register and it's yelling "An item you are buying requires age identification!" Cashier goes running again. Finally he checks me out. I shrug at the five people lined up behind me and leave, glad it's over. I get to the car and my wife asks, "What took you so long?"

The filters are standard household items available at Lowes, Home Depot etc. Check eBay and you can buy a case at a time cheaper.

Best investment you made all year! As you said, you buy good tools only once! I have the 24" version and love it. I kick myself for not buying it years earlier!

A Bit of Philosophy
Tom Geiger replied to Bruce Poage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This one popped up in my feed today because Cab Driver hit the "Like" button! And that made my day. And seeing the last comment was from my old dear friend, Rich Manson. RIP my good buddy! A while back I found some of my old articles were being kept alive at the following link: http://www.carsandracingstuff.com/library/g/geigertom.php -
One of my favorite subjects! As people have said here, modern day stamps were produced in such large numbers that they are worth very little today. From the first US stamps issued in 1847 until the US depression in the 1920s, stamps weren't collected in large numbers so those that survive command some value. People in the late 1930s noticed this and it started a stamp collecting frenzy where people were saving full sheets of every new stamp. That led to a huge amount of mint stamps that exist to this day. I regularly buy large lots of stamps for postage at 50-60% of face value. I use about $200 a month in postage for my eBay stamp business, so the savings on postage really help! The average stamps you would buy for your collection would be purchased for a little bit above face value. The good news is that you can collect a lot of history at reasonable prices. When I was in the hobby in the 1960s and1970s, some US stamps had been driven up by speculators. Sometime in the late 20th century the bottom fell out of that market. As a collector coming back to the hobby about 8 years ago I was able to buy everything I ever wanted as a kid! Kinda the same thing as buying kits you had back then! Powerplant, the stamps you show here are used stamps worth a few cents each. If you want to send me scans of what you have, I'm happy to help. Let me know if it's all used stamps like these, if there are unused singles, blocks or sheets. I especially collect "covers" which are stamps used on envelopes. Never take a stamp off an envelope, the entire will be worth more than the loose stamp.

Lifetime production for some builders is just piles of unfinished models sitting in boxes.

Much ado about nothing!

I am marveling at how well done it is! The fact that I'm not scrambling for interior parts etc. Cars with no printed dashboards just scare me. I won't be opening up that hood, wouldn't risk breaking my first 3D printed kit. I understand they can be brittle. And there's nothing worth scratch building under the hood. I probably will use something like the Mitsu 2.6 from a Dodge D50 pickup kit that will look okay from the underside.

I just received my first full 3D printed kit in the mail! And it came to me from DiOlex Productions in the Ukraine. This is a 1978 Corolla Deluxe wagon. I had one of these back in the day. Back when new US cars were troublesome right out of the gate, this car was flawless from new and fun to drive with the 5 speed. I couldn't take any better photos than provided on the eBay listing so here they are! The work is very very nice and everything fits together well.

Yea but you buy it anyway! ? Two years ago I passed an Ollies on my way home from work every day. I bought a couple dozen kits over a few weeks... nothing I needed.... and they are all still sitting where I stacked them! ? -
