To go potty

Great build on one of my favorite kits. Back in the day I wanted one and would see them at shows in the $200 range. There was a dealer at shows that had this and a Little Red Wagon marked at $200 each. I noticed him carrying them around all season, so I offered him $300 for the pair. The guy went nuts yelling at me that I was calling him stupid, if I thought he’d go for that! I just looked at him and when he stopped yelling I just calmly said, “All you needed to say was no thank you!” I was glad I never bought those as the repops surfaced and I could’ve bought cases of each for that $300! And I hope the guy got stuck with them!

I see the shelves full one week and empty the next. It means that even though I don’t know a single car modeler in my town, SOMEONE is buying all those kits! And that’s good for the hobby

What floor would you have under your model build area?
Tom Geiger replied to GLMFAA1's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I work in a spare bedroom so I have hardwood by default. When I lose something unique I will rake the floor with a business card. I find all kinds of whittled plastic, hair and other schmutz, and occasionally the part I was looking for. If the part is not unique I search briefly and grab another one. The lost part will show up eventually on some subsequent search for something else. I also find photo etch, pins and parts I hadn’t missed as a bonus. -
I have the resin postal Jeep. It’s very nice full detail with the straight six. Jeff didn’t have any of the decals left so I will grab a few postal Pintos. And to get back on track.. I bought a junker bag with remnants of several Jeeps at a show. I managed to pull two models out of it. Green one has a V8 and became 2WD. I didn’t have a hood, glass or tailgate so second one became a junker. Okay, two and a half Jeeps from the bag! And the rest of that one…

That is PDC! (Pretty darn cool!)

I’ve had my eye out for the Postal Pinto. I can use a few sets of those decals if anyone doesn’t want theirs!

Neat! In my old town in NJ many of the town vehicles are old cop cars. The building inspector pulled up in a clapped out Vic with town logo on the door.

HPI Guy Asphalt Modified Racer Review

Small niche company.. maybe that’s all they could afford to spend on the first run. -
Work! My company declared a “Work from home” week this week and we are shut down next week. Sounds good? Well for everyone but me! When the building is empty, it’s the time we do a bit of construction. I have contractors in updating two coffee kitchens. I don’t mind this week, but they are moving slooo and made mention they’d need to be back next week! As in Hey I’m supposed to be on vacation! We will see, but it does not look good!

Anyway, when you go to Hobby Lobby and they don’t have anything you “need”, instead of whining on the board, maybe stop and be grateful that you have all those kits already!

Just got back from Hobby Lobby. 40% off week but nothing I needed. Anyway.. the photo. I use these boxes for my eBay stamp inventory. Pretty much a fancy shoe box. Note the price went from $2.99 to $4.99 for a frickin cardboard box! I grabbed up the six at the old price and bought them! So it’s not just the models guys! ??

The car is silver, the most popular color for that year and model. The issue is that it's not only the door, but the quarter panel behind it will still need to have the dent removed and painted... and now a back bumper cover too! Mark, this is my next door neighbor. I think the way it will go down is that I'll get a second quote and talk with him. Once he hears the numbers it will probably go to his homeowners insurance since he was on his lawn tractor.

I don't know if I shared it here, but a few weeks ago my neighbor hit my basketball hoop post, knocking it down. I didn't care about that as I was contemplating taking it down anyway. But he knocked it into our Buick Lacrosse, denting the left rear door and quarter panel. Went to one shop and got a $2500 estimate. Am looking for another shop for a better quote, as neighbor said he'd pay out of pocket... only I don't think he has any clue the number! Anyway, wife texts me the other day. She's sitting at a red light and a guy in a Forrester clobbers same Buick in the back bumper! Now the bumper is cracked and needs replacing!
