Did the interior in a darker red, the white inserts are the bare plastic. Brush painted the floors flat black to look like a rubber mat, '57 Ranchero steering wheel replaces the missing '59 wheel.

Long term 1957 Buick Century Caballero Wagon
Maindrian Pace replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Ouch. -
After a couple more body work sessions and some deepened panel lines, got the body in paint. Interior parts are drying in the booth.

Yes. The gold is for the roof, chosen because of the large flake size. It's one of the few times where Testors and their bass boat flake is actually what is needed.

This car is mostly finalized, so here's an abbreviated build thread. Upcoming club theme - fire apparatus. I've never built anything fire related. But that's what the build themes are for, to get you to do something different. Many, many years ago, (like 25 plus) I got a '59 Ford wagon promo interior and window glass from another club member. It hung around for a long time, until one day I bought a resin Jimmy Flintstone wagon body and bumpers on ebay. And that's as far as it got. Fast forward 5-6 years later, and wondering what to do for the fire theme, it hit me - this car as a rat rod, maybe with a Tasmanian Devil fire man theme. The wheels were going to be resin open steelies, but the decision was made to use the Pegasus Astro Supremes, which automatically turn it into a lowrider. A Revell '57 Ranchero built-up parts car was used for the chassis and engine, or what can be seen of it as the hood doesn't open. I shaved a whole bunch off the top of the chassis to clear the interior tub. The first mock-up, almost all the lights and fire gear are from the parts box. Needs a tube grille, so I cut the stock mesh out, glued in a sheet styrene backer, and used Evergreen half round for the grille bars. I will get the bumpers chromed. In primer after the first round of body work.

Johan catalogs
Maindrian Pace replied to Maindrian Pace's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was another one that showed the mid '70s GM airbag steering wheel on a full size (probably) Oldsmobile, and it touted a working airbag that deployed when the front bumper was pushed in, pressurizing a vinyl tube that led to the air bag. Pure fan fiction. I thought I posted it up with the other fantasy sheets, but I didn't - and now I can't seem to find it. But if I do, I'll put it up there in the original post to add to the collection. -
I'm not sure if all of these are real or a bit altered, as some of the cars were obviously never kitted. And that airbag idea is nuts. Fun to look at either way.

Very nice, well thought out street machine. Nice finish with the Testors enamel, a notoriously hard color to get good and even coverage with.

I always liked the look of this kit, even with the way-wrong fender flares and undersized wheels and tires. I forgot how plain the engine bay was, but that was just the Revell way in the late '70s.

Mystery truck kit
Maindrian Pace replied to Maindrian Pace's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks gentlemen, that didn't take long and I didn't think it would. A friend's 2 year old really wanted it, but it is a bit delicate for a toddler so he had to handle the crushing disappointment. Life kinda blows sometimes. -
Came in with a parts/kit lot. Drag semi with tilt cab and bed, marked Fundimensions (but not MPC) on underside of the black interior tub. Appears to be a kit, but I've never seen one before.

1977 Ford Overlander Van

Coolest build I've ever seen of that kit, original, clean, and well executed. Didn't know that R/C parts like that existed. -

I don't think I've ever seen a removable trunk mat with a spare tire underneath in scale before. That's some next-level stuff from a kit manufacturer. Stunning build too.

Super fine build.

1992 Ferrari 512TR in Blue Sera (1/24 Fujimi)

My goodness, that is as nice as a kit can possibly be built. Aside from being flawless, the details, colors, wheels, and stance just give it a presence and resolution rarely seen in scale. -

Just hang a turbo on the right side. That'll fill it up good. -
77 Monte Carlo phantom aero coupe/fast back
Maindrian Pace replied to fordf-100's topic in Model Cars
Very nice, I really like these phantoms that nobody ever thought of, but work well enough that they should have been obvious. And the body work is nice too. -
Love the Edsel 2 door wagons, saw one in real life at a car show in the '90s, it was swamped by admirers. Your build looks minty.
