  1. While you may not have enjoyed doing the BMF work on this model, you certainly did a good job on it.
  2. I'm not surprised that he got banned. He tended to be quite "testy" and "argumentative" with a lot of his posts in various threads. His opinionated and negative attitudes in a lot of instances were very irritating to quite a few people.
  3. Wow Ferby, that car is just awesome. You did a fantastic job on all aspects of it. I built a '51 Chevy Fleetline Custom last year that was going great until final assembly time when I just could not get the engine /chassis / interior assembly to seat properly up into the body. I disassembled and reassembled things 3 times and just could not get it to go together properly...... I was ready to throw the whole thing against the concrete block wall in my basement, or just step on it...!!! I wound up just putting it all back in its box and leaving it there for about 4 months. When I finally got back to working on it, I figured out that the problem was caused by the dashboard which was sitting too high. I trimmed it down, reassembled everything, did whatever paint touchups were necessary, and got it all together. As you said, "let's hear it for perseverance" because the model has won 2 First Place Custom awards and a Best In Show award at contests. Your model is sure to do the same at shows you enter it in.
  4. Definitely a bummer.. Another icon of the Kustom world gone. R.I.P. Mr. Barris.
  5. Nice... I love that color Paul.
  6. Thanks for that Harry. I haven't bought one of those ridiculous, tiny little jars of thinner/cleaner in years. A friend filled a large jar with thinner for me a couple of years ago and I'm still using it.
  7. Wow...... Bummer...... A friend told me that he saw Barris at a Car Show last year and that he appeared to be very shaky and unsteady. Another great loss if it is true.
  8. Welcome to our plastic playground Mike.
  9. Great job Dave. Maybe you should do another rod.
  10. Very nice work Eric.
  11. I agree... it's the best we've got right now. I'm not looking to start a war over it... I'm happy with it.
  12. Thank you all very much guys. Mike, yes one of the grilles in the kit is exactly the same as the one on the 1:1 car.
  13. Nice work with all of the dollhouse items Stephen. It's sometimes tough to find dollhouse stuff that fits in with 1/24 - 1/25 scale.
  14. I've started working on the new Galaxie '47 Chevy Coupe kit. I want to make a Custom / Rod along the lines of this... My planned color is Duplicolor Inferno Red Metallic. I'm not sure if I'll use Caddy Sombrero hubcaps, or single bar flipper caps, on wide whites of course. It will also have ribbed bumpers. So far I removed the drip rails, smoothed the hood, frenched head and taillights, installed resin teardrop skirts, and filled in the rear side windows with Bondo. When I sanded off the drip rails I was a bit too aggressive with the sanding stick and obliterated the upper door lines, causing me to have to recut / rescribe them. It was a pain in the butt and very tedious but I managed OK. I got smarter when I filled in the rear side windows and masked off the door post lines so I wouldn't ruin them too. Here's what it looks like so far with a couple of coats of primer/sealer. Now I'm working on the kit's engine...... painting parts and drilling holes... More progress to come as it happens. Thanks for looking in on this, and any and all comments are welcomed.
  15. That's a great looking Rod Jason...... but, did you forget taillights?
  16. Great job Bruce, I love that color.
  17. Great job Bruce.
  18. I'm glad everyone is having fun with these "Tests", and doing pretty well on them. My brother-in-law sends these to me every so often.
  19. That is looking great so far Paul.
  20. Yeah, I'd do terribly on British cars too.
  21. When using the accelerator, dip either a toothpick or piece of brass or aluminum rod into the accelerator and apply it to the spot you want instead of spraying it on...... the excess spray could "ruin" a paint job.
  22. Thanks Curt, I'll do my best to try to make it next year.
  23. That's a sweet looking '55 Tom, good luck with it.
  24. Steve, you may hate doing black paint jobs, but you did this one really well, and your foiling is top notch...... great job.
  25. Click on the Link to take the test...... I got 96%...... The Henry J & Willys Aero threw me... There's a second "Tailfin Test"... I scored 96% on that too. http://www.americantorque.com/game/car-show-50s/
