  1. Thanks Jonathan. My wife bought me this one as a birthday gift last year. Too bad they do not sell just the motor by itself. I may still try to get that kit at some point, as that price looks really reasonable. I just now tried to add it to my cart, and it said it is currently out of stock.
  2. Just off the bench. Still waiting on the plates, but otherwise I'm calling it done.Factory correct Ultramarine by ScaleFinishes, this is to replicate my daily driver. This is a great chassis with lots of detail, the body proportions all look right etc, but the final assembly gets fiddly. The side glass does not fit flush like you would want, and the fact that there is no motor is still a mystery to me. (Thanks Jonathan for the replacement decals!)
  3. very cool, I would not have thought of that.
  4. Nice build, I like the little extra touches like the areas on the doors where the arms rubbed the paint.
  5. Alright, I have been away from this project far too long. Working on the ride height led me to Z the frame in an odd manner. I cut it in half, and mounted the rear section to the frame that is mated to the fenders. The remaining portion of the front frame will then tuck into the inner frame within the fenders. I got the gap in the body filled and under primer. I also filled the hole in the wonky hood Not sure I will be using it or not. I may try to modify the hood from the David Stacey 32, or similar.
  6. Well said, and I can attest to the quality of this car as having just seen it in person last week at the Desert Scale Classic.
  7. Why not? Factory stock would be a category that I would hope they understand the subject matter, but not every judge is an expert in every make/model of car/truck. Replica stock, again, the judges may have no knowledge of the subject at hand. Also, Lets say for example, you had one rim you liked but not a set, and you cast the rest of them, or one seat a cast and duplicate, or that you scratch built certain parts, how would they know that unless you told them? Having said that, a judge does not need to know anything about certain makes/models to understand that someone left a mold seem where one would never ever be, or that one paint job is better than another. I see really shiny paint jobs win paint awards, but to me, they are WAY way too scale thick. doing extra work for the sake of doing extra does not mean a finished model is better. Yeah, someone opened the doors, but if they hacked them up, and they do not fit or look right???? Aside from that, it is not always just the judge that is reading it. The spectators may want to know more, such how long did it take, what kits did you bash, "oh this dude cast his own wheels!" and so on. Much like looking at the i"n progress" builds on this forum....I do not only want to look at the under glass category. Tell me more! LOL
  8. most hobby shops have them, Hobby Lobby does, Michaels etc.
  9. I switched to getting the kits that have separate bottles. Once I use the amount I need, I have small bits of paper towel torn off with a little thinner on it, and then clean the tips off before putting on the caps again. Once I went to the separate bottles I have not had much of an issue since.
  10. That is OK, I think this new event will only continue to get better.
  11. Earlier someone asked if there was a way to call out the MCM folks. Maybe next year we can make an effort to have a group photo of the MCM folks in attendance. Put some names and faces together for those of us that missed each other. I did get a chance to talk with some folks tho, and saw some of the fine works of art up close and in person. Thanks to everyone for bringing out their models.
  12. Very cool! I would really like to get that type of weathering technique down.
  13. hmm, try to talk John White from Indiana into coming out with you! LOL
  14. Outstanding proficiency sir. The detail and speed with which you achieve it is always a pleasure to watch.
  15. Heck yeah....may try to find a model of one of these some day to build for me son.
  16. umm...wow. The picture before I saw your hand made this thing look so large, but with your hand in the pic, I am even that much more impressed you are making all those small bits. VERY very nice work indeed.
