  1. One of my favorite kits from my childhood. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
  2. I know I am resurrecting a bit of an old thread, but I am in need of some input as I am trying to detail out a Fronty motor and I seem to be missing something. In this motor above shows the lower radiator hose connection and is one of the only ones I have seen online. Yet on this motor, there is no such water line on the same side of the motor. Is it this bit lower connection of the chrome bit that is coming down from the Magneto drive on the top of these two pics? This second photo is why I ask, as you see the hose goes from the radiator down to the passenger side, roughly the same area. (right below the time stamp) But I also saw this, only picture I have seen of this.(Lower right)
  3. Welcome, and why not ask dumb questions!? Lost of fun conversations have started that way.! ?
  4. I would always test in on spare sprue from whatever the current project is, with the topcoat you are planning on using, but I know a LOT of folks use it under Lacquer paints.
  5. Another added benefit to Badger Stynylrez, is it acts as a good barrier AND comes in multiple (I think 12) colors other than just gray/white/red. https://usaairbrushsupply.com/t/stynylrez-primers
  6. This is really looking great. I really like your work on this kit.
  7. I have been wanting aset of those wheels/tires. if you have no plans for them, maybe we can trade some other kitbash fodder? ? Great saying..
  8. Ahh, that is why you pick a few up at Hobby Lobby with the coupon, or when they are on 40% sale ?
  9. I hear you. I would say at least a third of my stash was bought purely with the intentions of parting them out. I have multiples of the 60 Starliner because of the great engine, wheels and chassis stuff that can find their way into other projects. Last year, I bought every single Pontiac Polyglas Gasser reissue I found when they went on clearance, because of the great (three complete sets) of tires, including Tampo Polyglass tires, whitewalls, AND tampo printed Redlines. At less than $8/kit, how could I not!?
  10. Cool, I have never been able to get the shading talent down. I like this
  11. While there may be no cure, I have noticed that forcing one's self through exposure and response therapy helps keep the shakes away. For me, this is accomplished by completing at least 1 box stock build, between every couple of big projects, thus equating to around 1 a year at this point. The last attempt tho, failed, and I swapped out the wheels..... ?
  12. Holy cow, see, I am losing my marbles. I have some of those around here, and still totally forgot. I was thinking a screw is a screw, and I am missing the gag. LOL Thanks Danno!
  13. Very cool. I built one a few years back, and also enjoyed it.
  14. That makes sense, but there was specific reference to the "new screws", just did not understand if there was really some weird difference, or if it was just a joke simply because it IS a screw chassis.
  15. While I prefer print to peruse, I must admit that having my big screen phone handy does make it easier to read magazines just about anywhere/anytime without having to carry around extra stuff. An added bonus is that I must admit that digital, when done right, allows me to see the items better, with the ability to zoom in on the details etc. That being said, I felt that Kalmbach's digital format was not high enough resolution, and when I attempted to zoom it, it just got blurry.
  16. That is awesome! LOVE the fact that you are getting to use the exact paint. As it is lacquer, just be sure to seal the body so it does not craze the plastic. If you are using an airbrush, I would also suggest that you experiment with the thinning and consistency of the paint before you start shooting it at the body.
  17. Great story, do not worry about the English, and very cool project indeed!
  18. I know I am not always that bright...but what is different with the screws? Am I missing a joke perhaps?
  19. Really nice looking model!
  20. This is not really new, but may simply be more noticeable. As was previously stated, these lines are caused when two streams of molten styrene meet,. Think of it less of a "flaw" in the process, but certainly a quirk. If you look hard enough, you will see this on most all kits, typically seen on larger parts with more sprue connections. Having said that, if you see it on bare plastic, hot paints certainly do bring them to the surface, just like ghosting if you scrape of an emblem, sand it smooth as a babies bottom, and paint without sealing. I have seen ghosting where the paint is not hot enough to craze. That which crazes the plastic will certainly raise this line. As others have also stated, if you seal them properly, (as you would if you would for body work, or removed emblems/trim etc) there are no issues.
