  1. I have been trying to land one of these for a LONG time. This one is especially sad. Even over at Dave's Show Rod site where there are over 500 built models of various model show rods, both real and fantasy, there is not one single sample of this being built. Someone mentioned only ever seeing one completed, and that may possibly be one more than I have. I have one of the panel trucks in my my stash that is a partially started kit I picked up, that I will finish out at some point.
  2. Turned out nice, I missed the completion post, not as much time online.
  3. Really nice.
  4. Turned out really cool!
  5. Cool looking model.
  6. Super clean build, and a great looking model! Very nice.
  7. Very nice work you have going on there!
  8. Great looking box stock for sure. Not easy to make that kit look that good in my opinion.
  9. May have simply been too strong of tape, did you use like Tamiya tape or washabi or whatever it is called? Less "cling" to them. Asie from that, with the panels on that car the way they are, you may be able to just hit that square area with the next coat.
  10. It looks very French, or..."Continental" in nature.
  11. I would certainly watch them. I do use a lot of Mig Ammo/AK Interactive products, watch their related videos, read Damaged/Weathering mags etc. I do try to improve, but just like art, some people have a natural talent for it. Just having the concept, the paint, and brushes does not make one an artist, although a non-gifted person can certainly improve their skills. That is where I feel I am, not an artist at all, but capable of learning/improving. Rest assured, I will be borrowing liberally from your work here, on my shop forklift. ?
  12. Absolutely stunning! I could look at this for a long time, and find new things to be impressed about. Your ability to weather/age/add/realism is something I sincerely wish I possessed, as your ability to translate the 1:1 world we see, to what is on the model, is superb, and you have a great deal to be proud of on this model. I am indeed jealous of your abilities. Any interest in online tutorials? ?
  13. I wonder if it could be an optical illusion based on the dark bronze color that tops it, or there was a mist of the bronze over everything prior to shading. It always blows my mind at how little interest a lot of these builders seemed to have in their cars after they moved on to whatever was next. " In 1970 Ed sold the car to Jim Brucker for $50. "
  14. I am currently undergoing this experiment. I am hoping it works, as I have a lot of old kits...
  15. Should be cool. I have a soft spot for these old show rods and try to build at least 1 a year. As for your sconce, you may be able to use the one you have to resin cast a duplicate, and you can find another option for showerhead, Plastruct to the rescue. I would advise that are you move forward, the plastic used for these kits I found to be very brittle, so watch out for the breakage. @Ken, you color combo works, would not have considered that. You could do a full series, one from each decade. Here is my bathtub Buggy from 2013.
  16. Interesting, this could also possibly work as a puzzle kit combo, in a tin perhaps.
  17. Looking really sharp. I am yet another that has had this car in their stash for decades, but it has just not managed to bubble to the top for whatever reason. You have done an excellent job on it. You mention it was Candy Brandywine, but what brand? Just curious as it looks very similar to a color I have planned on using on a Cinder bug show rod.
  18. Cool!, those wheels work well just the way you have.
  19. Just saw this, good for you. Jameston is SUCH a nice guy, always does right by me.
