  1. And that is part of the reason it keeps jetting up, "it is only a buck or two more", repeat. I have gotten caught up in it to. Now, I decide what I am willing to pay for something, and stick to it. If I find it, great, if not, I really have plenty of kits to last the rest of my life anyway. There are some I want, but I am not going to get into a bidding war in nearly all cases. I really want the Chitty Chitty Bang Bank kit from Aurora, but it goes for more than I am willing to spend. There are other, simpler kits that were popped more times, like the Badman, that I want, but I am not going to pay $80 for a kit that may get released again at some point.
  2. Very cool, between this, and the other pic you shared with all the bins, where those all the same lot? Just curious, was this an estate sale, or auction? Based on the bins, it looks like hundreds of models.
  3. You are absolutely right that it is "just a guide". My dad always told me, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and in the case of an auction site like Ebay, with a worldwide audience, those prices will easily go up beyond what that same kit might sell for at your local model contest swap meet, simply because the audience is now much larger, and will undoubtedly have more people interested in the same kit, and it only takes 2-3 people interested in the same kit for their to be a bidding war. Plus, people tend to overspend at an auction, via excitement and not thinking in terms of real money.
  4. Thanks Danno. I did not think it fit the "Diorama" catagory criteria.
  5. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Claude, actually, I have never been very good at capturing things I see, and envy those that can really take great photographs. I struggle with getting my pictures to look as good as I would like them too, especially in my photo box inside, and I even bought a decent (but not expensive) digital camera specifically to share my model work, but it is really hit or miss. These pics however, I took outside in my back yard, after my daughter introduced me to the "portrait" setting on my smart phone, rather than the standard pics. I took way more shots than I needed, then through and picked ones that I thought looked better. It really did make a huge difference using that portrait setting, and going outside. Sometimes, these smartphones can do some pretty amazing things.
  6. Very cool, nicely done indeed!
  7. I was soo hoping this would be a live event...I NEED a live model event... Oh well, as my dad used to say, wish in one hand, do something in the other and see which fills up faster.. I hope it is a success for you guys.
  8. Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yea Dave, that is the Airfix, built it with our 6 yr old. Pretty much a Lego kit. I have gotten him three of them now. He is not yet patient enough for models exactly, but can follow Lego instructions. I do follow then up with a bit of liquid cement like MEK to hold them together so he can play with them a bit.
  9. I use Grandtline, and Tichey train,( just buy an assortment of sizes and use what is appropriate), but recently I did discover Masterclub resin nuts and bolts, and these are amazing. Again, a very wide variety of sizes and styles. and the price is really good in my opinion.
  10. looking great to me!
  11. responding to OP. For me, the wheels are horrible, and look like some of the Mattel HotWheels wheels. I also do not like the side stripe breaking through the wheel well. Otherwise, the body work itself is ok, but I agree with several posters that perhaps a wider hip over the rear wheels would look better. Mostly tho, I find the wheels and stripe so awful they are distracting.
  12. There is so much going on, great extra work that you are applying. Very cool.
  13. I had heard something about that. I truly think the term "reality" TV needs a kick in the pants, false advertising and all...LOL
  14. On most of the "scripted reality" car shows, nearly all of them have become so predictable, "oh watch, here come the uh oh moment", that I find them painful to watch. I have found myself literally watching the first few minutes to see what they start with, and then skipping to the end to see what they ended up with. For the most part, my 1:1 automotive content now comes from Youtube channels, where there are everyday garage mechanics, taking you on their adventures. Yeah, there is junk there too, but I find it easier to skip the crud, and ingest the fun stuff in smaller doses. My wife really likes these reality shows, cooking, real estate, whatever, but they all pretty much annoy me with the fake drama. Love it or List it is an example, where I have YET to see a single episode where the lady does not promise a list of items, inevitably "miss something" that runs them over budget, and then has t be left out. EVERY time, so it seems to me that she is really bad at foreseeing inevitable overruns in her project estimates.
  15. Really diggin it. Please tell me you are going to do a bit of the interior, at least the steering wheel. ?
  16. Such a cool project. I am so glad to see that someone sees something different with that kit, and is moving forward with it. Sorry for you job loss as well, I hate to hear that for you.
  17. Yes, I like the wheel/tire set, maybe I have something you can use. Feel free to PM me with something that perhaps you are looking for.
  18. Really cool looking model. I have wanted to do another customer similar to this since the last one I did late 70s/early80s, but for some reason have not gotten around to it.
  19. If rebooting your PC does not help, sometimes problems with your network devices, like modem or router, could lead to a Gateway Timeout error. Rebooting these devices could help you with fixing the problem. While you can switch off all these networking devices in any order, the order in which you switch them back on is important. Typically, turn these devices on from the “outside-in,” following the connection order from the internet service provider to your main client device. It can also be caused by DNS issues on the server-side or the client-side (or both). You can use free tools like whatsmydns.net to check.
  20. A Gateway Timeout Error means your web server didn't receive a timely response from another server upstream when it attempted to load one of your web pages. Put simply, your web servers aren't communicating with each other fast enough.
  21. Cool project, the parts you are pulling together compliment each other very well .
  22. Sorry to hear this for you Joe, but it sounds like you are at a minimum in the right place to be going through this. I wish you the best sir.
  23. Thanks Danno/Ace As I have been looking around the web, I see WAY more modified Fronty motors than stock. I did see the inlet that you are referring to on the motors I have, but based on the molded in hose, it looks like it goes into the front cover, with no available mounting location on the front. That being said I like the shaft driven water pump/Magneto on the passenger side of the motor and had started fabricating that. This is the set up I want... The two motors I am aware of are the one in the Cinder Bug kit (the one I am currently working on) and one from the fruit wagon. They each have their strong and weak points. The question I have, is that Cinder Bug has the generator molded in, and none of these that have the shaft to the pump/magneto have the generator. If I use the Cinder Bug motor, will I need to grind it away? (I fully acknowledge I am not a mechanic. Any resemblance to actual functional electrical systems is purely implied, and not guaranteed ?)
