I have had good luck painting white glue on stuff I don't want painted. Few brushed on coats then when it's painted peel off glue or soak in warm water

HOLY TIRES! Lookin good

Can I guess? : ). I run my foil in pieces that overlap where the pieces on the 1:1 subject overlap or butt together... I think we build much the same John! Nothing wrong with that though as I admire your work. And your new job!...

Those look good. That's much how I made the courtesy lights in the headliner of my mach 1. What is this foil tip you speak of?

Very nice color. Blue interior would be nice

Shrink rates on Tamiya products are incredible!!!! Lol. Good luck can't wait to see it

Looks very good. I was at a car show today and saw a decent 69 340 s. I thought of your car right away.

Yup familiar with that article and it's really just fluff. It's almost ten years since an update and it begs some questions. Why was the car not documented more than a vin rubbing? Why was it not purchased? Also the dso of 84 ( home base fleet ( show and test vehicles included) explains and backs my statement).

Well at 3am I wrapped it up and braved the worst spring snowstorm in ages to get it to the contest. Here are some final progress pics. I will take more later. Thanks for looking : ) -

Looks awesome Stan. I have to learn how to make roll cages! Reminds me of nick scavos impala in the late 90s. His was all black and just a mini rubbed car that ran 8s. Maybe a few high 7s -

Headliner/ glass combo in for last time Drivers door detail. I made the catch and found a decal that resembles the data plate quick mockup. Doors in place for final time and glued the hinges. Have a couple tiny issues to resolve but it's getting closerengine is installed to chassis. It all fits. Rest of assembly on it will take place after body/interior/chassis are finally bonded together tmo. Has to be done by Friday morning. Thanks for looking -

I wanted to make the door sill plates so I gave it a try. Photos show progress. Foiled and an aluminum wash to dull them a little and a ford decal from the parts box. Pretty happy with them -
I am talking about the 1:1 caps. Shelby sourced them from the supplier that made the chevelle caps

Good info. I believe the boss guy that took me down there told me that and it looked well worn for sure. To be honest I was in sensory overload about then. Lol. I drove for 3 days to get there and once I got to the hot rods they were moving them out to the Oakland roadster show. I was a bit sad but then the curator said "come with me, I will make your long trip worthwhile" and he took me and my family down to the vault and said "go nuts". We were down there for 3 hours or so looking at and touching the cars and taking pictures. It was something I will never forget.

Very cool! My boys tried and one likes it and the other not so much. I saw the real boothill express at the Peterson in the vault a couple yrs ago. It was fairly run down but ultra cool to see something like that in the flesh

Made a headliner. Added styrene in between the molded glass supports then used tape for the pieces in style if 1:1. Added the sail panel lights and some visors. A little trim work around edges and it's ready for polish and install. Foil done Drilled out and foiled factory door handles. Still have to detail locks. Getting very close to putting it all together. -
Very nice work. That is the exact same method I have used with great results. Good tip!

Good progress guys. I will be starting the engine after Easter. I am also moving the next weekend so likely around May 1. I am trying to get a couple things finished for a contest Easter weekend
-
There you go with the pics. It was down in the vault storage area when I was looking at it

So here are a few more. Hood is done except for final wash and clean. Just have to add the twist locks. Here is a quick mock up as well. I made a trunk mat. 1970 was either plaid or this spatter pattern. I chose to replicate the latter. Looks just like the 1:1 : ). Comments welcome -
I will need some of these. I had the pleasure of spending a little time with the 1:1 in the vault at the petersen museum a few yrs back.
