This is my first finished project this year. Also my first Tamiya kit. Built box stock except for the aftermarket gauges and license plates. Any comments are welcome, I know its not perfect, but I do welcome constructive criticism.

Welcome. I lived in southern iowa in the mid 90's, been to Des Moines numerous times. Not active modeling at that time. Back at again, living in Sioux City. I don't make alot of shows but try to make as many as I can. Maybe we'll see you there.

Cars of American Graffiti
uncle potts replied to MGL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Milners coupe was done as a kit, as was the 55, I believe. Not sure if the 58 was done as an american graffiti car or not, even though the impala is available in kit form. I just looked on ebay, there was also a 56 t-bird done by Revell. And if you're interested, there alot of diecast from 1/64 to 1/18 scale available as well. -
Cool ride.

Under the knife, one more time...
uncle potts replied to uncle potts's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thanks for the encouragement guys. The doc said after the procedure that my recovery will probably only be 70%. This means major life changes, and like many of you, I feel too young for this, at 56. The Mrs has been very supportive, this would have been much harder without her. I'm a lucky guy to have her. Some have said I need to file for disability. I don't think I'm there quite yet. Fortunately the Mrs and I started downsizing and simplifying our lives about 8 years ago. So our expenses are not as bad a it could be. We will get through all this, its frustrating at times. -
A buddy of mine had one of these in high school. We sure had alot of fun in that car.

Ebay sellers - Crazy?
uncle potts replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are they crazy, maybe. But we all know we want to sell for the highest price possible, and buy for the cheapest price possible. So if there is someone who wants it bad enough, and has the cash, and is willing to part with the cash. Who's to say anyone is crazy. -
Just had my right knee scoped this morning. Torn miniscus on the inside and the outside of the knee. They could fix the inside tear, they cut a away the torn piece. However the outside tear they could not fix because of the direction of the tear. Doc says I will probably only have a 70% recovery. The only fix for this knee if this surgery doesn't reduce the pain is a new replacement joint. I will have to have it replaced in the next 5 to 10 years, regardless. This has been a tough couple of years.right hip replaced, left knee replaced, left rotator cuff repair, twice. And now this. To top it off, I can no longer do my job due to the restrictions the doc has put on me. I'm a welder and livestock trailer mechanic, which is a very physical job. Lots of climbing, crawling, and heavy lifting. So now I have to find different employment, and I've been doing this type of work for the last 23 years. Makes for some sleepless nights. The up side, maybe I can get to the workbench more often. Thanks for letting an "old man" vent a little frustration. Paul.

Good looking trailer. What did you use for the basis of the build, or is it completely scratch built? -
Transtar and Wilson pot.
uncle potts replied to 19nova72's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That combo looks great. Love the old Wilson Trailer behind a cabover, never looks right behind the newer trucks or a conventional. We really need a modern punch side Wilson. -
A Car Everyone Can Hate Equally

What an ugly piece of junk! Why didn't they add fins and a whale tail? It couldn't have hurt. -
