  1. For someone who hasn't tried this type of build before I think you're doing just fine.
  2. Thank you for sharing your photos. Amazing detailing, especially on the big rigs and commercial builds.
  3. Looking at the VIN one could imagine this was a Mustang that Ford may have supplied to the movie company for the movie. Most cars and trucks used to make movies end up having a very hard life and often require a complete restoration when the movie companies are through with them if they survive at all.
  4. Great looking paint and body trim. Like the realistic looking finish on the wheels.
  5. Beautiful looking paint and body work. Watched your build and the extent of your detailing and adding lighting turned out show worthy to say the least.
  6. I have used a Tamiya brush paint XF-56 Metallic Grey on headers and have been pleased with the look. Another color, lighter shade, would be X-32 Titanium Silver. While not real glossy you may want to dust it with a flat or semi-gloss spray to knock down the shine a little to get the desired finish.
  7. Excellent detailing and lighting. Very realistic looking. I wouldn't have the patience needed for such a build.

    My garage

Like the tools and junk laying around.
  9. Great looking paint work and the color fits the Jeep. Even with the issues you mentioned this turned into a great looking build.
  10. This is the first one I have ever seen assembled. Like the engine and interior, body sort of reminds me of a fiberglass kit car that was all the rage in the late '70's. All that said the build looks great with all the work you had to do to it.
  11. We moved about three years ago. We had built our forever dream home in 2000. HOA by laws weren't really a problem and enabled us to get rid of the basketball back boards removed that kept popping up in the driveways. The area was starting to look like a school playground. Problem came up a few years ago when it was time to repaint our home. Ours and our good neighbors next door were both shades of beige and brown and were basically painted the body of the home one color and the trim a contrasting shade and we kept them the opposite of each other. HGTV decided that a light green shade was the latest and greatest color for a home, and we were tired of the beige anyway. The Architectural Commitee got their BVD's in a bunch since we were supposed to only use Earth Tones per the HOA bylaws. Green and grass I guess doesn't equal earth tone description. The worst part was the head of the committee was the only person that didn't like it and his home was about 5 or 6 years past time to repaint and the trim paint was flaking off his house. He did get a little huffy when I pointed this out to him as I recall. At the HOA Meeting with most of the homeowners voted in our favor. So, when we decided to downsize and move, we sold the home to a great younger couple with a family, and they were really nice people and loved the house. They wanted to paint it a white color and dark trim. You can guess where that went and who was leading the charge. The new owners contacted us as they had in the past when they had made some changes inside that better fit their family's lifestyle. We still had the papers from when the home was built and listed the exterior colors when first built. Guess what color the house was, white with blue trim. Wish I could have been at the HOA meeting when they presented their new color scheme. Not sure about the black door, but it's theirs to do with as they please.
  12. Sort of an early street rod with a Chevrolet small block added.
  13. Great looking paint and trim. Like the paint treatment on the wheels.
  14. Great looking color and finish. Enjoyed following your build and the story that went with it.

    '30 Ford

Besides the beautiful color and finish, the detailing of the engine, chassis and interior looks amazing.
  16. Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Like the contrasting wheel color. Great interior finishes. Like the workmanship on the hinges for the doors. The stance and chopped top give this build a no nonsense look.
  17. Wouldn't this world be a more pleasant place if everyone would have this attitude toward one another.
  18. Yah, I got an E Mail from Dodge this morning offering me a discount on anything I ordered online thru them today because of Hemi Day.
  19. I recognize a couple of your builds on display here. Very impressed with the detail painting on the military and figurines. Like the way the display tables are raised and covered.
  20. Like the clean showroom look.
  21. If you're talking about the AMT '50 Ford convertible kit, the reason for the windshield done the way it is in this kit is that there is or was several different roof options when this kit was new. #1 was a stock height convertible windshield and soft top up or down. #2 Was a chopped top convertible with a half top option. #3 This was also offered with a stock height roof and the Victoria Hard Top with no B pillar.
  22. It has been a few decades since I have had to deal with "soft plugs". A couple of suggestions that may help: They used to offer replacements that had a hard rubber bushing the size of the opening in the block that had a bolt of sorts passing thru the center and screwed into a metal plate on the water jacket side of the plug. After inserting the plug into the block as far as the plug would go you would tighten the bolt and it would expand the rubber plug from the inside of the engine. As for an installation tool, we used to use a socket that would fit inside the outer surface of the metal soft plug and with an extension on the socket extending into a part of the engine compartment that you could use a hammer to ease the plug into the block. A good liquid sealer would help the soft plug into place and act as a sealer as well.
  23. With the interest in pickups I would think Round 2 would be looking at a redo of the C1500 454SS truck and some of the other old AMT issues from the past. A reissue of a '68 Impala SS would be nice as well with the prices being sky high for original AMT versions now. I think any number of the listed kits would sell well.
  24. Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The chrome body trim all looks great. The Camper looks like it could have been a kit part, and the latter and trim look realistic.
  25. Looks great and that bed can be a real challenge to put together correctly. Paint and colors all look OEM including the bed floor.
