  1. I'm with you on the wheels being painted black whether it is scale or real. Why would anyone want to pay a premium for black painted alloys when they look much better shinny or polished. We used to paint the wheels on our old cars black because we couldn't afford chrome rims. This may be the basses for this feeling.

Like the low sinister look. Dark tinted windows may be in order.
  3. Like the clean detailing of the interior and chassis.
  4. The chrome engine parts was sort of an AMT thing when this kit was released. As for removing the chrome, if you haven't already, simple kitchen cleaning bleach works pretty fast and clean as well.
  5. Based on just the subject and not when the kit was issued, I find most of the newer Revelle kits are great and the Moebius may even be better if they have the body openings outlined correctly. The last few kits issued by the old AMT company when they started doing separate frames and suspension were also good.
  6. I use Dawn Dish soap to clean resin bodies as well as the plastic ones. Had a really bad experience and lost a resin body while trying to strip a paint job using Purple Power. The thing is there are a couple of chemical makeups I guise with resin bodies. Not all will react the same. Mine sort of turned into a soft bar of soap in the general shape of what it was supposed to be. That is why I don't think Purple Power is the absolute answer.
  7. Bought this container a few years ago at Wally World and told my wife when I pass, she should use the rest of it on our floors.
  8. Except for the Ero looking composite headlights it looks good. Now the wheels are what really look dated.
  9. The shot they gave me made everything seem a little blurry and my chest felt like it would explode. I just sat down in the chair and told them I needed the shot to stop it. I was very close to blacking out and my chest hurt for the rest of the day. The whole thing didn't really last all that long after the first shot. My heart started beating very hard to the point of hurting almost right away, which has often made me question if I was given to much of whatever is in it. I had discussed these problems with my Cardio. Doctor and that is why he reluctantly OK'd the tread mill. With the tread mill they have a spotter standing behind me in case I were to trip or fall while a Nurse is monitoring my vitals. The tread mill lasts until my heart reaches a number they are looking for or until I cry uncle which ever happens first. Then they put me on the sled and run me through the ring to do a Cat Scan.
  10. Good luck to you on your test. Mine is set for July 1. Your description sounds much like what I have experienced. You have to be brave to get old.
  11. Great looking dark blue color and finish. The bumpers sheen looks close to the body trim. Like how you posed the front wheels and the wheel and tire combination look good.
  12. When you have your stress tests are they giving you a shot to stimulate your heart or are you on the treadmill? The last two or three tests I've had the shot and I thought I was having a heart attack. Very painful and I think the guy was slow to give me the reversal shot. Got the Cardo Doc to approve having me run on the treadmill this next week. To my mind the treadmill would offer a truer reading than a chemical setting your heart on fire.
  13. Had the same issue as you with the "widowmaker" in 2002. At that time, they were going through the groin area to install the stents. The sensations afterwards are hard to describe, but I did feel better after a couple of days. May have just been because then I had a good blood flow. A flight of stairs was no longer like climbing a mountain. Glad you're better.
  14. Great looking paint finish and decals. Like how you detailed the interior, and the green glass looks better than I thought it might. I notice in one picture of the engine in the chassis that the air box looks to be leaning to the passenger side or maybe even the engine. Could this be the cause of the hood clearance you mention? The chassis detailing looks good as well.
  15. Beautiful looking detailing on every surface on this build. I have also built one of these and really like the kit as well. The panel line issue you mentioned was not an issue on main, but I have returned Moebius kits in the past that did. The hobby shop I go to refunded me for the kit since Moebius wouldn't do anything about it when contacted. I like how you have strived for the OEM look on this.
  16. Had the same model Oldsmobile that I picked up second hand when it was just another old car. Used it for a work commuter and only paid a couple hundred dollars for it in the mid '60's. No, it was not this pristine and was very thirsty at the gas pump. The '59 Pontiac would be really nice to have.
  17. Sounds like you have a low tolerance for poison ivy. Seems that the fluid from the plant that is the irritant can remain in most any fabric or clothing for a long time. Maybe wash any and everything that has come in contact with the plant and see if that helps. A personal experience with poison ivy when I was first exposed as a child was really severe and had spread almost head to toe and was even in my eyes. A family friend who was raised on a farm offered to try something that he had to do as a child. He put me in the shower with the water at the highest temp I could stand. This opened the source so they would start to weep. He would hand me a washcloth that he had run under the hot water tap in the sink and have me keep running it over the infected areas to help wipe away the fluids from the sores. I would stand under the shower head and keep rinsing myself off. When he felt that the sores had wept about as much as we could get from them, he had me stand and sort of air dry my body without the use of a towel. Then came the calamine lotion. This happened for a couple of days and seemed to lessen the poison ivy's effects on me. Slowly the sores started to heal so this seemed to work for me anyway. I would suggest getting a doctor's opinion on this type of treatment as not everyone is going to react in the same way, and this isn't anything to take lightly.
  18. I like pie about as much as anybody, but this sure looks like Cheesecake to me. I'll take a Raspberry Cheesecake myself.
  19. Great looking body color and trim. Like the dash gauges, too bad they're hard to see after assembly.
  20. Beautiful looking paint and stinger trim. The interior is well detailed. Like how you finished the engine and chassis.
  21. Like the period looking bed equipment. Can you imagine what it must have been like to crank that by hand to lift a car or truck? These were manly men.
  22. Look forward to your WIP on the '58 Wagon. I also bought a conversion kit over a year ago but still have other projects in front of that.
  23. That one is like learning how to Tap Dance.
  24. On the exhaust duct hose, how long, diameter of the hose and is it level or elevated are also things to consider. One suggestion on the hose. I found that the aluminum exhaust duct hose that I found at Home Depot works great and is relatively inexpensive. The hose was originally designed as a universal vent hose for a home hot water heater. Should the filter start getting plugged up or the hose has a long run you might start getting paint fumes back out of the spray booth.
  25. My wife is starting to think that a few local rabbits may be on the endangered species list real soon if they don't leave some her flowers in the flower bed alone.
