  1. Great looking Chevy and I like your back story. The Keystones would fit the time frame, but she would need a club of some sort to keep the guys away.
  2. My go to tape would be Tamiya masking tape. Rather than trying to mask around the edges I would use their tape that is wide enough to cover beyond the edge of the part you are going to paint. Next burnish the outline of the part you are masking. Burnish the edge between the part you are painting and the area you want to mask. This area can also be made easier to see if you even run a pencil in the outline of the part. This will make it easier to see where you will guide your blade to trim the masking tape. Remove the tape from the area you want to paint and then again be sure that the surrounding area is properly covered. A light coat of clear might even be a good idea to help seal the edges and prevent any chrome from running under the edge of the tape, if you're not sure of how good of a cut line you have between the protected part and the part you're painting. Start with a couple of light dust coats of the chrome paint before doing any heavier coats of paint. Before removing the masking tape after the paint has dried lightly use your blade along the edge of the masking tape with enough pressure to cut any bond between the tape and your painted surface. The tape should be pulled back on itself slowly and stop if the paint isn't lifting cleanly. You may have to redo the blade along any area that isn't coming off cleanly and especially around curved lines as well as corners. This should work with either spray chrome products or even a liquid pen.
  3. Great looking build and engine detailing.
  4. Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Like the engine detailing.
  5. Great looking paint color and finish. The trim all looks cleanly done. We can always look at something we built in the past and think we should have done this or that to the appearance. Anything you wanted to do here wouldn't take more than a minute or two without dismantling your build.
  6. Great looking Camaro and the color and stripes look good together. As for the decals breaking up on you, I have used a spray can product from Testors designed for this problem. With everything that has happened with Testors in the last couple of years this may no longer be in their line. I'm sure that others offer something similar for precoating decals.
  7. Great looking color combination and finish. Like the wheel and tire combination.
  8. Lot of great looking innovations and cleanly detailed. Like the added side windows.
  9. Like the color you used along with the clean chrome body trim.
  10. Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Like how you did the engine and the stance. The 1:1 car was never appreciated for how good it was in an era of 396 Chevelles and 427 Impalas. Had a young customer whose parents got him a new '65 Turbo with the 4 speed in Lemon Yellow and Black interior. Living in the mountains it was pretty hard to keep up with if you know what I mean.
  11. Great looking paint finish and the color is about as close as you could get without ordering the exact color from somewhere. The nose stripe lays down nice and smooth looking.
  12. Very clean attention to every detail.
  13. Like the battery cable connecters. Consider that idea stolen.
  14. Great looking engine details.
  15. Were you able to read the poster? This is the real deal, never street driven, race car.
  16. Start looking for Flame Masks. There are many out there and don't rule out multi layering the masks since you are planning to be covering the sides of the body.
  17. Great looking paint graphics and the front spoiler. Clean looking engine detailing.
  18. Beautiful looking color and finish. Nice stance.
  19. Great looking conversion and the perfect color. Ford could have sold these if they had built them. Like the paint finish and the trim detailing.
  20. Beautiful looking paint finish and the trim all looks very cleanly done.
  21. Like all the details you have added. The top and rear fabric cover look great, and the body side trim gives a different look to the body. What sort of clear metallic looking paint did you use?
  22. Try Googling them both for pictures. This may give you a better idea of the differences.
  23. Been busy with life so not much has happened with this until now. I'm adding a picture of the original Baja that I owned, and the picture was taken at pismo Beach around 1976. The little girl was my stepdaughter at the time. Her mother and I were uncomeatable to say the least and I have no idea of the little girls wear abouts. She was a very sweet young lady and I do hope her life has been rich and fulfilling for her. The interior is done and the colors and finishes pretty well match the Baja. The engine is ready to go into the chassis which is what I'm working on now. The rear fenders have been reshaped to match the ones on my Baja, and the fronts are very close.
  24. Looking at the grill details my guess is '49-year model Fords.
