The main thing is you're ok. I spent most of my life in various parts of California and like PeteJ said they are somewhat common, but not something to become complacent about. The unfortunate part is that there is little you can due about the earthquake it's self, but your life and belongings you can take measures to protect. As you mentioned kicking the whole Corona Virus thing off the TV. The local TV here is so busy yammering on and on that they don't talk about anything else. I check the USGS Earthquake site on my phone ones in a while and was surprised to see how much activity there has been in your area. The number of after shocks especially got my attention. Do you have any known faults in your area, is there any fracking going on ? Not much you can do about either one, but you can start planning to be prepared for any future shacking.

Looks like a good find. As mentioned the condition is actually very good for its age and lack of covered storage. That engine with a rebuild should give you very good service. I think the best feature is the three speed and you mentioned the Overdrive. That transmission will prove to be the best part of your drive train with minimum maintains it should last for ever, in fact this one may need nothing more than a good cleaning and Seal changes and new oil.

I think you could use Hoods and Grills from any of the Revell or reissued Round 2 models. I even used the Hood from the Revell Suburban on the reissued AMT pickup and it's as if the same kit designer worked on both kits.

That movie was a peak into our future.

My thought is that you may not of cleared the decals. This is based on the close up picture of the stripes and the finish that looks as if they may be deteriorating. I have seen where decals can do that as they age. There's a lot of different opinions as to whether decals should be cleared or not. I'm of the opinion that they should, but that's just me.

They have closed the schools until further notice. The Bank has Emailed us that they no longer have Lobby Hours. Lots of luck getting into your Lock Box there. Restaurants are closing or drive up window only. Had to go out to buy a new Refrigerator yesterday before they closed. We walked into what is probably the busiest furniture store in the metro area and you could fire a cannon through the place and not hit a soul. Went to my Allergist yesterday for my weekly distemper shoot. You can't sit down and you have to wait outside in your car after your shot instead of the waiting room. Now they're delaying some local elections and primaries also.

I have followed your build since you started posting it here. The time, effort, and attention to the smallest detail is off the charts. Yes I love it.

I'll be sad to see the passing of the model car era if I live that long. I have been fortunate enough to live during a time when you could find a kit or resin conversion that you could create just about anything automotive you could think of. Your only limit has been your ability to imagine what it is you wanted to build. Now I'm just an old fart, can I say that without getting in trouble?, sitting in the corner of the basement with more models than I could ever hope to build in my life time. I win.

You should get this and your other one together for a Drag Race along with an ACME Starting Light. What could go wrong ?

Like TaeheelRick I have been studying all of the extra detailing you have done on this build. The unique way you displayed the windshield wipers as if the engine was shut off mid swipe and the car keys hanging in the door and I like the hood latch details. I don't think you missed a single wire under the hood. That has to be hard to do without getting the area looking very busy.. I built the same model, and not even close to this one in detail, as a box stock for a show a few years ago. I used a Ford color by Model Master #28102 Phoenician Yellow and found it was pretty close to the Yellow that Chevrolet offered at that time. I pass that along just in case you ever are trying to match that in the future.

The rear is easy to lower by just cutting the springs, kind of what is done on the 1:1. The thing to watch for is the drive shaft clearance of the rear portion of the floor boards. Some notching of the rear edge of the drive shaft tunnel can solve this up to a point with out going through to floor. I think at that point your rear bumper might be pretty close to bottoming out anyway. Should you need to go any lower just remove a portion of the rear of the tunnel and create a replacement for the portion you removed.

That is why I sold my '05 GTO. The body just doesn't want to twist around like it used to. The best part for me was to go for a drive on some nice 2 lane roads with no traffic. The car would give you that old feeling of when you were young and thick of hair and thin of waist, as opposed to now.

Interesting looking kit. Is it the model year, 1971, or the build options that is the big draw for you ? The reason I ask is that AMT offered one of their 3 in 1 kits of a '70 Impala but without the "Sprint Car Wing" .

I was reading the latest Car & Driver Magazine yesterday and they had several articles on the whole self driving cars thing. I have to agree with some of their observations that the manufactures and suppliers are finding that the technology to replace the human brain is a little harder todo than they thought.

As everyone has pointed out the disassembly will depend on how the base plate was attached to the interior and body. I have to think there will be some carnage in this and I would sacrifice the chassis or base and protect the body. The body is the most important part to save in your restoration. I would replace that chassis anyway as it is very basic, unless you're wanting to go a full on restored original model of this car. The Glass parts are going to be one of the easer parts to replace with thin clear plastic from many sources. Please post your build so we can follow along.

I love the paint splattered about in the bed, even has a knot or two in the tailgate chain. In my mind it's the little things that give any model additional character.

Birthday Cake on the deck. This person does not have a Dog. There is no 10 second rule with a Dog. We had a Lab that would catch that cake before it could hit the ground. I have seen that more than once.

I like the cut down windshield and the flaring on the rear deck. Interesting color combination, wouldn't think of using them together, but after seeing how you did it I think why not. The front bumpers look like they may be rears.
