Coronavirus (Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson tested positive)

Birthday Cake on the deck. This person does not have a Dog. There is no 10 second rule with a Dog. We had a Lab that would catch that cake before it could hit the ground. I have seen that more than once. -
I like the cut down windshield and the flaring on the rear deck. Interesting color combination, wouldn't think of using them together, but after seeing how you did it I think why not. The front bumpers look like they may be rears.

Very nice looking Caddy. Never see enough Convertibles.

All three of them are cleanly built and great looking paint and body details also.

Checkout the Contest / Show part of the Forum. Many shows going back a long time are just sitting there to view. Don't overlook the ones from other countries since they can offer some unique ideas and the craftsmanship is really amazing.

Thanks for the info. I had looked at that when it first came out. I wanted one in the worst way, but at that price I'm past my pain threshold. I have heard that those that had built one were very impressed by the kit.

Thank you for the background info on this kit. I was relating it to the other Wrangler kits that I have seen. My reasons my seem petty to some, but I have to really like a models subject before I open the old wallet. What I would really like to see is a kit I could build to represent our '09 Wrangler, JK model, 2 door with the Hardtop. With the information you have given me and the past models I have built I have never liked the way a plastic model turns out if based on a Die Cast model.

SELF-DRIVING CARS: THE HYPE VERSUS REALITY
espo replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A little Heads Up to all of you living in Arizona and in parts west. The local TV had program about Driverless 18 Wheelers being tested in that area. They interviewed a couple of the people working for the company doing the testing. They are at a point that the rigs are on the road with NO HUMAN even in the cab. -
My first custom paint job

I like your paint treatment. as DPNM mentioned this was something some were doing years ago. This will be interesting to see how it turns out. -
Thank you for the insight in what your doing with your design. As a former Monte Carlo owner I'll be even more interested in your paint work.

This kit is a little off putting to myself for a couple of reasons. #1 I just don't care for the lower cut body sides found on the soft top Jeeps, and I know that's a personal problem. #2 the fact this will probably be priced in the $30 + range and no engine. Again a personal problem. I just feel at this price point it should have an engine, and some other off road goodies might ease the pain a little.

The level of detail in this build it is hard sometimes to realize this is 1/25 scale and not the real thing. The problem with the body and dash board is a pretty common one with any resin based build I have done. The resin bodies seem to be just a little bit thicker in areas that are tight even on plastic kits.

I'm looking forward to seeing this paint work. I know you have your design down, and I don't want you to take my comment as criticism as I'm just interested as to your design. I'm looking at your masking of the rear portion of the body and the trunk/boot in particular. To my eye it looks like the pattern widens toward the rear with the lines on the top of the trunk and rear fenders sort of converging at the outer edges of the fenders. Is this part of your design ?

What are you using for the steams ? -
I hope to be able to find out this evening. I got in contact with the 5 star repair guy the manufacture lists and he's going to be in our area this afternoon on anther call so he is planning to come by here then. He's based out of somewhere on the Mo. east side of the metro and we're on the westside.

Also works well at creating Skin Cancer. -
Great looking builds. I like your build style here also. I'm real partial to that black Charger.

Great looking paint and the front end you added looks like they could or should have done it that way.

Changing Times, Changing Tastes
espo replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
iamsuperdan, I'm an old "Gray Beard" and I think you have a good understanding of the reason people look for something that was special to them in their early years . The new or newer cars I purchased as I got older were usually the higher performance version of what the manufacture produced at the time. You might want to keep an eye out for some of those types of cars on the used market. Example: '86 Monte Carlo SS - '90 Cavalier V6 and 5 speed, quicker than you might think. A '97 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP with the Eaton super charged 3.8 liter - '10 Charger RT Max with AWD - '14 Avenger RT with an OHC 3.6 V6 that my wife still loves, and my current driver is a '18 Charger GT with AWD. The best was the '05 GTO 6 speed I bought new when I retired. Some of these are cars that can be had in many cases for under 10 grand for a nice one and just under 20 grand for some of the others. You are correct about the much older cars in that they had some great memories but not really safe drivers by todays standards. One of my hot button cars would be a '56 Bel Air Hardtop. The problem is by the time I bought and installed a completely new chassis and the LS-3 crate engine and the Tremic 6 speed it would be easier and cheaper to just get a new Super Bee or the like. -
"Holy Grail" Models?
espo replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Your Dad's Comet looked good. You might have a better chance of finding Revell's kit of a '66 Mercury Cyclone. They were issued about the same time as the '66 Fairlane and with time and better tooling I think the Revell kit would give you a better finished model. -
Corona Virus (Covid 19) and Model Kits

This last year the local markets have been offering 1 lb. bags of unground or ground coffee. As I'm sure you already know that is not fresh enough. We used to live in Sacramento and I would get Java City Coffee since they had little shops around the area. A coworker shoed me an article in GQ Magazine about Peet's being rated as #1 Coffee by them in the late '90s and I have been ordering direct ever since. Every other month I get 4 lb. of whole beans on my door step with 4 - 5 days of roasting. I stay with the Dark Beans and usually try their flavor of the month as one of the 4. Hope you enjoyed your cup of joe today. -
That would make a very interesting build. I remember when the Lincoln team won their class and overall in I think '53 or '54. The '57 Chevrolet Black Widow and the '50 Oldsmobile kits both offer options of very basic Roll Bars and even a gutted back seat cover. These parts may be handy when you build your '53 Victoria. I hope this year to finally put together my '53 Ford kit with an old Fordallac vibe with the Cadillac engine from an old '49 Ford kit.
