  1. Sounds like an interesting color. I guess I would have to see what it would look like with a Pearl Coat on it. I have noticed that the Pearl effect doesn't turn out to well in the pictures on line.
  2. I remember seeing those in red on tailgates, but not any fender ones. This may have been something the owner added for some reason. The steering box reflectors are something I don't recall.
  3. I was working at a Chevrolet dealer in Sacramento when the Yugo rep showed up one afternoon to pitch the car to the dealer as a possible second line car. Just so happened, by the time the dealer took it on a test drive it was one of those cool damp evenings that you would need your defrosters as soon as the car started moving . They didn't get a block down the street before he turned around as the Yugo couldn't clear the windshield. Then Chevrolet gave us the GEO.

    71 HEMI Cuda

Great looking build. Were I doing it this would be one of those decal delete cars.

    41 Woody

Your weathering technique is very realistic looking. I'm a shinny builder, but I appreciate those who can put a finish like this on a build. You mentioned you didn't like the kit except for the body. I'm wanting to build a '41 in the near future and would appreciate knowing what you found about the kit that you didn't like.

    Bug

Great looking Bug. The finish looks like it has faced several Illinois winters out in the cold. I like the wheel and tire combination.
  7. Earth tones were very popular in the 70's and this is one of the best. I never owned one but a couple of people I knew did and they all loved them. My vote, if it counts, for the interior would be a light beige as well as the Vinyl Roof.
  8. The paint finish on the hood looks as smooth as it can be.
  9. Those hood hinges are amazing, if the resin body wasn't in the picture I'd say your looking at a 1:1 hood hinge.
  10. There is obviously a lot of development needed on any "Self Driving" car in the market today. The biggest problem in my mind is that they cover a lot of the poor drivers on the road today. There are just to many people that drive their SUVs and Mega Pick-ups like they're battering rams and their hair is on fire to get to where ever it is that makes them more important than anyone else on the road. While I'm not 100 % against some of the driver assistance features on the newer cars I think that drivers need to go back to the job at hand, control the vehicle and look around you when you're driving. Observe and anticipate what other driver around you are doing. Tailgating the car in front of you while talking or texting sipping your Starbucks and giving the one finger salute to the guy you just ran off the road is not the answer. Multitasking and driving are not the ideally mutually inclusive.
  11. That's a great starting point on the Ford pick-up. A little bed repair on the driver's side is about all. You were going to replace those mirrors anyway. The engine is from another kit, and I'm thinking of either the AMT Mercury as the 2-4s and a Paxton Super Charger were optional in that kit along with the FE series engine. The SAMT '56 Ford Fairlane kit also had much the same setup but on the older Y block engine. The Super Charger its self looks like it could have come from a newer kit since the detail of its shape looks a little more realistic. Did you get the chopped 3 window there also ?
  12. I had changed Cardiologist this last year. The Medical Group at the local Hospital has been going thru almost a complete change over of Doctors over the last 3-4 years when another Investment group took over the Hospital. This is my third Cardiologist in three years. At least this guy seems a little more interested in my personal health. Rather than writing the same prescription over again he wanted a fresh test on my condition and he wanted the Tread Mill test as he felt that to be the most accurate. He also had an Imaging of my heart done at the same visit. . He has indicated that now that he feels I'm stable he will be testing my blood a couple of times a year and retest if anything changes with my blood test and do the Cardio Test every couple of years The Nuclear Test were very hard for myself and would leave me exhausted for at lest a couple of days afterward. I had a Stent in the "Widow Maker" artery 10 years ago and at that time my only symptom was shortness of breath after a flight of stairs or any hiking.
  13. I have had a couple of the Nuclear tests and I agree this is what a heart attack must be like. Last year with a new Cardiologist he wanted the old fashion tread mill. He agrees with me in that it is a more realistic reading on your vitals. Now if he'd just get some fresh crackers for your after snack.
  14. Nice story, helps give your build a little more personality. I don't recall seeing many 1/2 tonners with the roof lights, but as you said it was a special ordered truck.
  15. Great looking build. The pictures don't really look like a Pearl Paint and the color combination looks good. Very nicely detail chassis and I also like the wheels.
  16. I like the looks of the wheels and it's final appearance will change depending on body color which is ??
  17. Nice dark red color for the body. Great job detailing the bed. The underside of the wood bed look very realistic.
  18. Great looking little 5-window. I like the all black color and was wondering if it's Metallic Black ?
  19. Great conversion on the drive train. The color really stands out and the finish is perfect.

    70 Barracuda

Very cleanly built and I like how you did the detail paint work in the engine bay and the chassis. As kelson mentioned about the exhaust, This is a 1970 model and the undercarriage looks like the spring of 1971 after one winter on the road.
  21. Looking at the picture it's hard to think this is your first dealings with BMF.
  22. A possibility on your rear window issue. I haven't looked at the most resent reissue so my knowledge on this isn't 100 %. I am pretty familiar with the original issues of this kit and at one time you would have the ability to build it as a coupe or a pick-up. The way you describe the rear window it sounds like it may have been meant for the coupe body. Maybe cut some clear plastic to creat your own rear window. I realize that the shape of the original window placed it so that the "window" part stuck into the opening from the inside so that the surface would end at the window molding. A home made window might look a little sunken or remove some of the inside surface of the cab to give a more desirable window depth. I have to agree with you on the condition of this kits front end. They should really tune-up the molds for this as it looks to me to be very worn or not done properly.
  23. I hope someone has some pictures to share on Monday.
  24. Great looking color and finish. Very clean chrome trim. Hard to believe this kits humble beginnings.
  25. I can only echo everyone else about leaving it as is, but that's my choice and it sounds like your trying to bring your self to go a little further. With that in mind consider the sponsor decals that are period correct. Leave the numbers off. I would try and find some sort of white tape that is easily removable and cut to the same size as the area where the numbers would be mounted. You could use some dry transfer numbers depending on which car your showing. With the dry transfer numbers on the white background tape you can change them at will.
