  1. Looks great to me. You're right about the interior and the engine bay, they both look good. I also like the paint color and finish. These were under appreciated cars when new. The OHC 6 could be had with everything from a fuel sipping single carb. running on regular gas too a premium fuel big cam'd Quadra Jet carb. and a 3-speed or a 4-speed and the TH350 auto.
  2. You are correct on the price of the Chris Craft. When I lived in Sacramento we would often go to Lake Tahoe and we attended the annual Boat Show there several times. The owners of a few of this model of boat were always there at the show. As I recall they were only offered starting around 1949 and only built thru the early '50's. This to me is still one of the best looking wooden boats ever. They still have this show every year during the summer, anyone living within driving distance with any interest in restored wooden boats should make it a point to attend this event. Many of the owners even dress in the period of their boats and there is also some period boat tow vehicles also on display.

  5. Sure looks like the real thing. To bad you didn't get a chance to verify if it was real or not. The paint and interior look almost to good to be that old so it may of been redon at some point.
  6. I bought a late '30's Chrysler a very long time ago. I paid $50.00 for it and it was intact and ran well. I bought it for some planed activities with some friend for Halloween. Being in our late teens you figure out what we were up to, and yes Coors was involved also as I recall. The problem with the old Chrysler was that with age the threads in the brake drums where the lug bolts attached the wheels were worn and the right front had to be retightened periodically. I even tried using lock washers. No this is a very bad idea, but I got bolts that I welded to the inside of the right front brake drum and then regular wheel lug nuts to attach the wheel. This lasted well enough during the festivities and was still in use when I sold the car for much more than I paid for it only a couple of months later. Ever since then I have been very carful to be sure any vehicle I have driven was in good working order. You might call it Self Preservation on my part.

  8. Wow ! Is this based on a kit I don't know about or is from some other kit that heavily modified ? The body and paint look great.
  9. I like this. The win was because of Curtis Turner, he was one of the early drivers that could "wheel" anything and make it a winner.
  10. Stupid drivers don't know where they are anyway. They would crash no matter where they are.
  11. The white car on the left has the A pillar, wheel well openings and the tail lights of the '64 and '65 Tempest. I love looking at these old pictures and seeing how the designs evolved and the different styling that shows up in later year models.
  12. This just keeps getting better all the time. What part of the VCR did you use for the Headache Rack ?
  13. Those are the early Long Ram versions used mostly on passenger cars. He has some interesting looking 6 cylinder manifolds also. Makes you wonder how he gets all these manifolds in the first place.
  14. Looking at the Vega bodies it looks like there may be an option on what year model you could build.

    Great looking Mustang. That color could almost glow in the dark. Very nice finish. I never thought this body style Mustang got the respect it deserved.
  16. PM me your address and relook at the trim parts you may need. I can cover you on the hub caps, hood ornament , and gas cap. I relooked at some of my stash kits and the '50 hood ornament could never be mistaken for a '49.
  17. What trim parts do you think your missing ? The parts I have the hood ornament looks more like the '50 than a true '49. Do you have the correct trunk latch, gas cap or hum caps ?

  19. Great looking four door. The proportions in the areas that you changed look perfect. You might consider casting this body, it's that nice.

  21. If you're replicating a 'stock unmodified 49 model of the Ford the front trim differences on the hood are very minor. The '49 year model had F O R D lettering in an arc on the hood over the center of the grill. The '50's had a Ford emblem in the center of the arc. The hood ornament on the '49 had a clear plastic fin, for lack of a better term, that encircled the raised center circle just past the half way point. The '50 year model this would have ended just before the top center of the circle. I know I'm counting rivets here, but if you want stock stock that was one of the very small differences. As Rodent pointed out the gas filler is an exposed cap on the driver's rear fender. Not hard to replicate with some scraps of a parts tree.
  22. I knew of a resin offering years ago that someone made to convert the RS to a standard front bumper. My hope would be that they were able to do something like that as I would hate to lose the ability to build an RS since that is my personal preference.
  23. The trim parts, hood and grill will interchange with no problems just like the 1:1 cars. There is a difference with the trunk lid trim. The '49 had the two handles above the license plate and the '50 has a small cover above the license plate that has a different style trunk release and the license plate light. If you're building a showroom stock type build this would be something to pay attention to, otherwise just do whatever. The interior bucket might be the only real issue and that would only be if you were trying to switch them. The coupe has the shorter floor than the convertible kit. If you use the convertible interior in the coupe chassis you'll need to trim the back edge of the floor board on the chassis to clear. This really isn't a big deal and if you have both chassis you can compare them to see.
  24. Thank you for the information. Now that you mention it I had forgotten that the Camaro was done by AMT and not Revell. I wonder if both parts are present ? Does the Coronet have an engine ? I don't think I ever got one years ago.
