Hilux Surf Liftup
espo replied to Chuckyg1's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Like the lifted suspension along with the wheels and tires. Great looking body paint color and clean looking black body trim. -
Beautiful looking paint color and finish. Like the flathead engine and the stance. Very clean looking street rod.

Interesting engine choice and with the detailing and the turbo looks like putting 6 gals in a 5-gal bucket, in a good way. Great paint color and finish, the body trim is clean looking. The washi tape interior is a good idea for an interesting fabric seat insert.

Great looking paint color and the clean finishes on the body and trim. The interior color contrasts look original. You didn't mention an engine or if this is a curbside. Having also built this kit I wish Revell would reissue it.

The Pig Rig

Love the creativity in this build. -
Think of a car guy or gal buying an 8- or 10-year-old Chrysler 300 at a good price and then fixing up to their tastes. The roof treatment was not an uncommon paint treatment at the time. Body: Bumpers front, and rear have been tucked in and chrome removed. Painted to look like lower roll pans and the thin raised portion rechromed with a Gundam Marker. Paint: Tamiya paints TS-58 Pearl Light Blue and TS-65 Pearl Clear. Roof: TS-72 Clear Blue over a mask of boarder material from Jo-Ann Fabrics and a topcoat of Pearl Clear. Interior: Pearl Light Blue with AS-19 U S Navy Intermediate Blue seat inserts for contrast. Dark Blue Flocking for carpet, kits gauge decals, Foil and Gundam pen for details. Engine: The OEM dual fours and Air Cleaners were used on another project and with the low hood I went with the Super Charger and side draft Carbs. for an old '57 Bel Air kit. Added plug wires and hoses. Chassis: Homemade front spindles in front and lowering blocks in the rear to lower ride height. Wheels & Tires: Pegasus Chrome Reverse Wheels and narrow White Walls. Problems: The chassis was bowed and in the wrong direction for lowering. Repeated hot water soakings and bending by hand could only due so much. Cut several relief notches in the frame I was able to get it to lay flat and fit properly inside the body. Enjoy.

While this is a great basic kit, you have taken the detailing of everything inside and out to a very high level. Very realistic looking colors used on everything. Lube stickers on the door jams, don't recall seeing that before.

Great imagination creating the body. The final body lines look smooth and blend well. The color looks great and a smooth finish. Not something you would expect to find in the parking lot at the Home Depot or Lowes, but better than any El Camino or Ranchero.

What I was thinking of is a chassis and primarily the differential design, that he just started to offer for the Model A kits from Revell.

The body work just looks so right, and the paint color looks great. Maybe pull the rear wing over the rear tires just to see if that looks better to your eye. I'm enjoying watching your modifications as you have worked on this. -
Besides the body color the wood grain finishes are realistic looking.

Beautiful looking paint color and finish, looks almost like a Candy Red color. Like the concept for your build. -
Just split the difference between the two and only move the clocks back 1/2 hour and lock it in there year-round.
-
This looks like a chassis and suspension set up I have seen on the Texas 3D web site.

Great looking paint finishes and interior.

Check the toy dept. at any local Wal Mart stores in your area. I picked up a 1/25th diecast Jeep Rubicon Unlimited last month for about $10. Haven't been able to find one in plastic so I thought why not. Torn it down and repainted it as sort of a Camo-Hunting type livery. They often have similar subjects that aren't issued in kit form.

Dido on the Good Year tire reissue. Many have been asking and hoping for the Mustang II kit and if looks like their wishes have been fulfilled.

Great looking details everywhere you look on this. Like the photography show several different angels.

Great looking paint and trim. Like the chassis and interior pictures showing all the added painting details. -
Great looking body color and matching interior trim. The added chrome trim, wheels and stance all capture the look. I like your picture background from LA.
-
Both builds look great, and I like the different approaches to colors and engine details. I also like the windshield treatment, what and how did you do those?
