Very cute. To bad they no longer let Santa you Studded Snow Tires.

The first one would be a much better looking Lumina wagon, and the second one could have been a Camaro. The basic front end design for the '68 full size Chevrolet. Just move the center emblem down to the crease, lower the uprights on the bumper ends, enlarge the corner lights, put parking lamps below the bumper under the headlights, and raise the top edge of the upper grill and you would pretty much have the production '68 Caprice looking at the shape of the C pillar.

In the second race the Galaxy looked like it was the car to beat then it just disappeared. The sound reminds me of the big blocks in NASCAR at that time. I like the Carb. spacers they were using.

Barris '70 Impala (finished interior 16th December)

I'm really enjoying your body art work on this. I would get lost trying to remember which set of tape lines to remove and when to remove them. Again great looking colors. -
I have been using the dental style scribers for a few years now and like them better than the #11 blade. On very faint trim moldings on a model body I may start to outline the molding with a #11 and then move to the scriber. The scriber works best for door or trunk opening lines. I cut those very deep since they will be partially filled with primers and paint in the building of the model. I have used the scribers to open the grills on several kits instead of just a black wash. The grill on the '37 Ford pick-up will take an hour or more if your hand gets sore.

I like how you have done the chassis on this build. The tires and wheels should add a lot to the appearance. I used to use the cigarette liners behind clear red plastic tail lights to give it the appearance of the OEM style tail lights on '60's era models.

Played with the snow Blower for about an hour this morning. Single digit temps and 15 mph breeze. Invigorating, but then it was time for a little Baily's and Coffee. Starting to get the feeling back in my toes and fingers.

This looks good, but it will really POP with a little chrome trim done.

Great paint color and finish. Looks like a fun cruiser.

My thought on this reissue is that it would be better marketing to offer all or some of the features from previous issues. I agree this is a great kit and I have bought several in the past, I just will not be buy this issue based on the lack of options. I may not be the only one that is looking at this in the same way, or maybe I'm the only one. Should Revell reissue this model with more options I would buy some of them.

Back when I was building a lot of NASCAR kits I bought several of these Modified Stocker kits. I never got the Falcon that I can recall but I still have the '65 Oldsmobile, '65 Chevelle, '66 Impala, and the '70's Monte Carlo. I think I'll have to revisit these in the near future.

Sadly the lack of sales from this might lead Revell to believe that there isn't a market for this kit. The real problem is the content or lack there of.

That's a great shade of Purple. -
I have been watching this build and the attention to details that you have used throughout. I like everything about it's appearance, and I think if someone didn't know what all you have done to the basic starting point they couldn't fully appreciate the model they are looking at.

Looks to be in amazing condition considering it's age. I worked with a guy around 1963 who had the same model and color as your brother's car. I could never figure out why a young guy would want such a car at that time as everyone else was getting new or late model big engine cars of the day. I rode with him a couple of times and found out it had the El Dorado 3x2's engine. That big then 7 year old car would really surprise a lot of other drivers.

Turned out great and I don't notice any decal problems from the photos.

That is very clean looking. I like how you eliminated most of the badges and small chrome bits and to my eye that really cleans up the look. Great colors that work well together. I would never have thought to put these together but they work well and a perfect finish on the paint.

66 Chevelle Station Wagon done stock(interior update 1/12/18)
espo replied to 66belair's topic in WIP: Model Cars
See if you have a Revell '69 Nova SS kit. This kit has the correct exhaust manifolds replicating the ones that GM started using on their Nova/Camaro and Chevelle small blocks at that time.- 38 replies

You might try looking in the Jewelry Dept. at JO-Anns, Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I have found a lot of useable stuff there that work well for what we're doing.

Great looking pick up. Does the kit provide steps between the bed and the cab ? -
This is a great kit. Like you I have owned a couple of the TBI 350's and even reworked the Throttle Body on my '96. As for the real SS454 trucks one of the reasons for the better acceleration had to do with the rear axle ratio. The earliest ones with the 3 speed automatic had 3:73 gears and the later 4 speed automatics got 4:10 gears. This kit builds up into a very accurate model of the truck.

I like the Green color and the finish looks great. -
I like the two tone paint treatment. I had a '72 Monte years ago and really enjoyed it.
