What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wonder how long the salesmen who were involved in the demos have worked for their dealerships, not counting today. -
An amazing person, an amazing talent . The world is a better place for having had her in it. Her beautiful songs are often playing in my head.

I have tried the Stand that kitbash1 suggested and while it works well mine now serves as a hanger for my air brush. Not sure of your lighting situation, but I use a large magnifying / light that clamps on the corner of my work bench. The base has an electrical outlet and that is where my Dremel is plugged in. The Dremel has a metal loop on the end where the electrical cord meets the motor. My Dremel cord has a raised notched affair on the plug and the loop fits perfectly. It is as if they designed it for this purpose.

I hope he had Stated Value Insurance, otherwise this will truly be a write off. -
Hobby Lobby's owner chose to close all of his stores based on his personal religious beliefs. I remember reading that his feeling was that his employees should have the day to observe their beliefs also and so he closed his stores on Sunday. Virtually my entire working life was spent in retail and that meant that you almost never got a weekend off unless you were looking for a job. So I applaud any employer who places the well being of his employees before what little additional income he might realize with the workers toiling day in and day out and miss out on family weekends and the ability to go to their place of worship if that is what they want to do on Sunday. Not going to Hobby Lobby on Sunday hasn't changed my life one bit, but I would bet it has meant a great deal to his employees.

Great looking Manx build. The paint treatment really makes it stand out.

Very well done. Matches the 1:1 perfectly.

Interesting project. I see what you mean about the Carburetors being out of scale. Maybe you could use Carbs from another kit. You mentioned altering the ride height or stance by raising the rear. You may want to consider lowering the front to get the stance the way you want. This kit like most has a rather high ride height anyway, and raising the rear suspension only would make that worse. I have not seen those Distributers before and I would like to get some, I'll checkout their web site.

Na, that's just the seat gasket.

I think you're correct about the China connection. The last Suburban I just got at HL shows a number on the box and the words Zhong Shan on the bottom. I think that the New Revell could just pick up with the Chines suppliers where the old company just left off. I'm sure that accounts would have to be brought current and who knows what else, but the supplier would rather have orders for product than sit on a bunch of molds.

In the past this has usually meant some changes in the content of the kit. Could just be a different set of decals and or wheels and tires. I don't think they would just change the stock number of a kit unless there was a change in the theme of the kit. An example would be the '64 Impala that was first issued as a stock OEM style, then as a 2 in 1 and then as a low ridder. Different stock numbers with some changes in content. Again just glad to see something positive is starting to happen.

Ya you're right about the Suburban not being New. I'm just hoping that they would add things like the duel exhaust and engine dress up parts from the pick up kit. They'll still sell a large number of these even if it's a straight reissue, but a guy can always hope. Still would like to know just what the issues in red and marked New are modified reissue or a new tool altogether.

Would be nice if Round 2 was able to tune up the '55 sedan with some of the Nomad's extras and a set or two of their new tires. I would be a buyer, and I still have several of the original AMT '55's in the stash.
-
My interest would be the '64 Impala. Would this be a straight reissue or something along the lines of the California Wheels series, and maybe a little better engine. Since the '66 Suburban is listed as also being New leads me to believe they may add some of the features of the '66 C-10 pickups. Just thankful that we will be able to again buy the models we enjoy.

1966 CHEVY SUBURBAN
espo replied to yura1961's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Remarkably realistic. This light Beige color was fairly common on these. You even got the correct rubber moldings around the rear windows. The color detailing on the chassis looks perfect. -
I like where you're going with this one. What was the source of your wheels ?? I have one of these scattered across the top of my desk right now.

Very clean well built, I like the way you molded in the wheel tubs. The color really looks great and the finish is unbelievable smooth and shinny. -
Revell '41 Willys "Demon II"-Now Under Glass...

I like what you did with your wheels. The engine looks outstanding, so realistic. -
I stopped in the O.P. Ks stores last week and only picked up another Suburban kit. I'm not into Die Cast but they had several new issues including a '65 2+2 Mustang in 1/25th. They had some other cars including a great looking black Datsun 510. Just thought I would mention the Die Cast for those who enjoy them, these looked almost good enough that I considered buying the 510.

What scale do you suppose these are?

I have seen and read articles about this builder. Really amazing works of art. -
I remember years ago Chevrolet was playing with a prototype mid engine Corvette. As I recall the cost to build and the technology involved at that time killed the project. While many if not most of the problems at that time may have been overcome to the point that they can now make a business model for building it now. The biggest draw back in my mind is still the cost to the consumer, I think the number of people who would be able to justify the expense would be far smaller than the more conventional layout of today. In the far distant past I have owned a C-1 and a C-3 and enjoyed both but at this time Corvettes are beyond my means and not practical as if they ever were.

Not sure if this even matters, but when I used the provided link to look at this Chrysler up pops the Turbine car. This model was little more than an unassembled Promo. I can see the value in the '62 Chrysler whatever, but the Turbine model has been reissued several times, so unless it's something you feel that you just have to have then I wouldn't bother.
