  1. Great looking build. This style is far more interesting than the stock MX5's you usually see.
  2. Truly amazing build. I have seen several processes that can be used on other builds also. Thank you for sharing. This is going to look "Killer" when done.
  3. I had almost forgotten about this build. Again , glad you're back at it.
  4. Super clean build and the paint is perfect.
  5. Like the color and the wheels.
  6. Great looking build. All of your extra detailing really shows.
  7. If you're thinking of the Dish Slotted wheels on the movie car you could try Pegasus Wheels or find one of the AMT Avanti reissued kits.

Great attention to details on the interior and adding the "6" really makes it stand out. L like it a lot.
  9. Great job on the body modifications. I saw the tread on your build and like how you did the hood and the lights.

    65 Impala

Perfect looking Showroom Stock build. Were the optional Wire Wheel covers in the kit ?? The added seat belts look good. The provided factory Air Conditioning is really fiddly, you made it look right.
  11. In addition to the Taymia Tape , painting the edge lightly with a clear or the masked color. Before removing the tape take a moment with a #11 blade and vary lightly cut along the edge of the tape. This will break any bond from paint buildup and should leave you with a very sharp separation line between the two colors. Some light sanding may be necessary to even out the line.
  12. The ones I remember seeing were mounted at the back edge of the front wheel well opening and the front edge of the rear wheel well opening. The cheep ones were just a wire much like a radio antenna with a very small round tip on the end. They would make a very scratchy sound when they hit the curb. The better ones were the spring type as they would bend somewhat and they seemed to amplify the noise better. They usually were mounted to the bottom edge of the body work with a small C clamp with a set screw to hold them in place.
  13. Looks great. I like how so many builders are using anything but black on these.
  14. I think it looks perfect. I don't think GM offered this type of body in the '50's but that wouldn't keep one of the custom coach builders of the time from doing something just like this. I would think Superior, who built a lot of Hearses and Flower Cars could have done this.
  15. Looks great, glad you could save a very rarely seen vehicle.
  16. I guess we just don't see the Enamels much here. Our bottles are marked Acrylic Paint and conforms to ASTM D4236 standards. The contents may be different. A few years ago Tamiya didn't send any paint to the US because of some air pollution laws. Tamiya had to reformulate their paint. I don't think we ever really knew what it was all about. Tamiya did what they had to do to comply with the US Standards and that took several months. We were hording our Tamiya paints since several colors just couldn't be had. Everything back to normal now. I saw the shape of the bottle just wondered about the difference.
  17. They were common years ago and the only thing I didn't care for was they way the ink would keep flowing even when you slowed down your writing or if you stopped and didn't remove the pen from the paper immediately. Also the possibility of leakage when covered and you are moving about. I think that most all of these problems were solved with the ever improved Ball Point Pen.
  18. Beautiful build. The body and paint looks like a perfect period build and is really well done. Lift the hood and you snap into today with the Weber's and braded fuel lines.

Very clean nicely detailed build. Lots of attention to the grill and the interior looks great.
  20. I especially like the 300 SL, but they all look outstanding. As an aside, in a couple of pictures I can see some of your paint supplies. Besides a far to organized work bench I noticed your Tamiya paints. Your bottles are squire where as the bottles we have here are round. While the contains are probably the same the different bottle shapes seem interesting.
  21. Looks like you're almost done with this build.
  22. I think what you're looking for is a 3- 2 barrel carburetor setup sometimes called 3 2's. I just did a '57 Ford Wagon with a setup from Hart's Parts. Outstanding quality, included the manifold, three carburetors and air cleaners. I also got the same set up for a small block Chevy with great Headmen headers. In the past I have made modified the kits bumpers removing the bumper guards. He offers resin bumpers without the bumper guards and still has the mounting pins. You will have to do the chrome treatment. He even offers universal "Blue Dots" for the tail lights.
  23. Outstanding build. I love the way the body looks. You picked my favorite color so I'll just have to do something different with mine. I will be getting more as my allowance allows.
  24. You might try using a flat edged wooden tooth pick to remove the paint where not wanted on the hub caps. As for the painting itself I have used a Pigma Micron brand pen I got at Office Depot. They offer some other colors also. I used their "05" pen in Red and it worked great. I have also used their White pen for White stripe tires, and Red over White for Red line tires.
