  1. I think if you compare the AMT and the Revell '63 Impala kits there are strengths and weakness on both. The AMT body and interior while proportioned correctly to the eye don't fit together as well as the Revell. The Revell engine is ok but very simplified. It can be built and detailed and turn out very nice, but I feel that the 409 in the AMT is a better engine. The AMT has the chassis that was considered standard at that time and not as detailed as any later kits you may have been building. It would be nice to put both of them together in a blender for about ten minutes and then build what comes out.

    49 Merc

    Very nice looking custom.
  3. Beautiful build. I always enjoy seeing your Fords.
  4. Very nice build. I agree with you about building a model of a car you owned many years ago. Hopefully only the good memories come back to you and none of the bad ones. Great color.
  5. Beautiful build and the color looks Killer.
  6. A well deserved award. Beautiful build. Outstanding engine compartment.
  7. A lot of major body work here. This is going to look good.
  8. I would go with #1. Just look at your photo of the 1:1 '37. That's what a Hot Rod should look like.
  9. I'll have to get a couple of the VW's. They have a treasure trove of goodies including some real nice tires.
  10. I have thought of doing something like this, but just didn't have the guts to cut one up. This reminds me of the neat looking Utes from down under. Always thought they looked great.

    56 Nomad

Very nice and you even used the correct red color on the engine.

Beautiful build. I like how you detailed the chassis.
  13. Very nice build. Great paint job.
  14. Like the Flower Car idea.

    70 1/2 Camaro

    Very nice clean looking build.
  17. Turned out beautiful Bill. With your detailing of the chassis you don't realize its an annual until you see the screws holding it together .
  18. Ya the tire looks like you have a tread separation. I like the Disc Brakes. .
  19. Always sad to loose a fellow builder, especially if it is someone you know. We should all hold his family in our prayers.
  20. I had a Union 76 station years ago in the San Bernardino mountains in Southern California. One of my customers would always get a new car every year. they were always nice mid sized cars and he was very particular about their care and maintains so we got along just fine. He would always leave his car with me for the day to service and tune as I saw fit. One year he showed up with a Rambler American, about 1969 I think. He told me it was somewhat unusual. He wasn't kidding. The car was a pretty shade of light green with a dark green painted roof two door hardtop. Very nice comfortable dark green interior with all the nice appointments. The surprise was under the hood. It had the 290 cu. in. v-8 with a 4-speed, Now at that time everyone including myself didn't think much about anything from AMC. I had to go pick him up in the evening at his office. Everything is narrow winding mountain roads. I was driving a '68 Bel Air 427 with a 4-speed. F41 Suspension and power Disc Brakes, Disc Brakes were somewhat new at the time. I gained a whole new respect for that little Rambler. I wasn't really pushing it since it wasn't my car. I would wager that I'd of played hell keeping up with him on those roads.
  21. Thank you for the pictures. I like the no console idea. I have owned full sized GM products of this era both with and without consoles and prefer without.
  22. Many have made suggestions for future models that I would never think of , but are interesting all the same. I think the Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick and Cadillacs from the mid fifties thru the late sixties have been ignored by all of the model companies. I feel this has been a mistake because of all the interesting possibilities. I would like to see any '57 thru '66 Pontiac or Oldsmobile. The Buicks from '54 thru '62 were very nice cars. I know the '59 Cadillac has been done, but has anyone thought about a '54 to '58 Caddy ? There are many other possibilities from American Motors and Ford. I wouldn't mind a proper '69 Road Runner either. Choices choices so many choices.
  23. Your build turned out perfect. I have one of these but have not tried to build it yet.
  24. You really out did your self on this one. The detailing under the hood is extensive and looks perfect. Which we could see more of the interior but I'm sure it is just as nice. Good luck to you on your moving. I hope it is for the better for you and your wife.
  25. Well David it would seem that your build would be compared to riding a bicycle. Once you've done it you never forget how. and that's how I would describe your build. I would never have thought you had been away that long. Just one old fart to another I think some of the hobby dedicated paint products work best.
