They all look fantastic. Hard to say which looks best, but I like the '61 Pontiac Venture. The diorama adds to there appearance.

Very nice. Reminds me of the Chevrolet Rally Green.

I have always enjoyed looking at your Fords. What, wait, was that a Chevrolet I saw ?

My Last Modelhaus order arrived

It would sure be nice if they could work out something with someone to protect their molds and continue to supply all of their great bodies and parts. I wish them well in their retirement.- 15 replies

It would seem that we share what my wife refers to as "a cub bear in a hammock" style of building.

I like all of them. The garage diorama really brings them to life.

Very nice clean build.

Great looking build. Would like to see some more pictures if possible.

Very nice wagon, perfect paint finish.

Very nice build. It's nice to build models of cars that bring great memories with them.

After a 20 year hiatus it does not look like you lost any building skills. Beautiful build.

Your detailing is really bringing the engine bay to life. -
You are off to a good start. Don't feel embarrassed, we all started in much the same way.

Simply amazing ! Looking forward to how you'll finish the outside of the canopy hinges. It doesn't look like it would be removable for painting. I'm sure you have that already figured out.

Thanks, I'll have to go with the wife the next time she goes for supplies.

Great looking build. I really like the interior. Is that the Greenwood kit or a reissue of it ?
-
Looks like fun, and great that you get to do it with your son. Some time ago I melded a '56 Chevy with a Greenwood Corvette. I did pretty much what the real guys do and grafted the frames together. I did the back half with the Corvette chassis meeting the 210 chassis at the rear kick up and rejoined the 210 chassis after the rear independent suspension. In the front I just mounted the Corvette cross member and suspension, this made it a lot easier to use the big block from the Greenwood kit. I also used the wheels and tires from that kit. Hope this helps in what you're trying to accomplish here. I also used the Corvette exhaust with the original kits exhaust. The Corvette cross member at the front of the rear suspension is a perfect place to hide where the two systems are joined.

That is beautiful. I like all of the extra effort on the detailing of the engine. The interior seat treatment looks perfect. Where did you get the flower patterns ? Like you , when I built mine I did the "wood" just using similar paint techniques. I used Tamiya clear yellow on the lighter parts, and their clear orange on the inner door parts. I never could get the decals to work for me. Yours looks like it is on air bag suspension. I really like how it looks.

Bench cleaning
espo replied to Modelbuilder Mark's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I always clean the work area after every build. Sometimes I have to do a light cleaning during the build when the area starts getting to cluttered. It seems as thought I start to run out of desk top as I get thru the mockup and modification stages. I try to keep tools picked up as I go, but never seems to be 100%. Before starting the final assembly I always wipe down the area to keep any sanding dust and bits and pieces from getting on the finished body and interior. I'm not the cleanest builder here, but it does look like some of the others here are in an operating room instead of model building desk. -
Anyone with access to a 1983-1986 T-Bird?
espo replied to robdebie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That may be why NASCAR allowed the change to the bodies since the production cars were going to the composite type lights. -
I like what you did with the grill, and the panel painting looks perfect on this.

This has kind of a menacing look with the black trim and wheels. Very good chassis detail considering what the kit has to work with. The exhaust outlets look like they would burn down anyone who got to close. I like the attitude of its appearance.

Anyone with access to a 1983-1986 T-Bird?
espo replied to robdebie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rob. I forgot, but I have a poster that I received in 1991 that shows the side view of the Championship cars for the years 1971 thru 1990. I was fortunate enough to have Dale Earnhardt sign it when I meet him in 1991. The picture of Bill Elliot's 1988 Championship car does look like the headlight buckets are open, but the 1989 Pontiac of Rusty Wallace shows the smooth fender and decal headlights that I mentioned. The Chevrolet Lumina that Dale won the 1990 Championship with is also smooth. This leads me to believe that Bill's car from 1988 was possibly the last year for that style of headlight. Good to see someone was able to supply you with an accurate measurement of the headlights. -
Nice looking build. All the best in your new profession and keep yourself safe.

You seem quite knowledgeable of the subject and NASCAR in general. You might try NASCAR .com and that would get you into current information and then that may offer a way to get more specific information. If you Google Bill Elliot that might offer some options to find sights with additional info. The only real relationship between the production car and the race car had to do with a templet that checked the alignment of the grill, hood, roof and rear deck lid. I just do not recall the different Ford teams of the time. If you can find out who Elliot drove for at that time they may have a web sight were you could get the info you need. I think he was an independent driver /owner at the time. I remember his brother was his crew chief for most of his early career and I believe that his father had a Ford dealership in the south and that was how he got started in racing. Again I'm not 100% sure , but that is what I recall.
