  1. Great stuff Steve and some excellent paint work ! I'd really love to see a full pic of your tribute display . You should check out the forum linked in my signature , lot's of Ed Roth and Weird-Oh builds there .
  2. Still not getting a lot of bench time but I managed to get the shape of the tailgate blended into the taillight areas and scribed the tailgate opening . The taillights were made with Evergreen strip , it's hard to see but there's clear lenses in them that will be painted later . I worked on the bumper so that it fits properly but it still needs some work before it can be chromed . As for the F-O-R-D letters on the tailgate they'll come from the ModelCarGarage PE set for the Moebius pickups . After finishing the bumper I still need to add the side marker lamps and gas cap , then add the B-pillar molding and drip rails to the side windows . Hopefully it won't take another two weeks to get that done .

It was worth all of the extra effort , it looks awesome ! Personally I don't read those 1000 word essays describing what was done to a model (sorry guys) so the extra photos are much appreciated , they do show the work you've done much better . And your decals look great too !
  4. Nice one Ray ! I've always liked this kit but they really missed the boat with those decals .
  5. Wow I really like that color , beautiful Impala Jim !
  6. Looks great Ray ! Depending on the type of racing those tires sticking out may not be to far off . We had a customer that built one for racing with Corvette suspension/wheels & tires and they stuck out just like that .
  7. $1400 sounds about right , mine barely ran and smoked like a locomotive but the engine swap really brought it back to life ! Never should have sold it .
  8. I let it keep loading while I browsed elsewhere and eventually it opened , well worth the wait !
  9. This is my '69 Camaro RS that I bought in 1974 for $700 , it had a very worn 307 with a 3-speed on the floor . I swapped in a 350 otherwise this is just how I bought it , when I got back from overseas in '78 I drove it a few months then sold it for $800 . Really fun car !
  10. Well done ! I agree . . . there's just something about a GTX . . .
  11. Both are beautifully done but I really like the Pearl Blue one , it shows how nice these kits really are ! And no tire lettering please , it would ruin the stock look .
  12. Excellent job Bill , one of my all time favorite cars !
  13. Wow that's super nice Jim , well done !
  14. Thanks for the info Dave , it looks really good ! I'll check it out next time I'm near Hobby Lobby .
  15. The taillights are just printed on sticker paper for a mockup and to give me the shape for body work , I'll make the actual taillights later . Where's the WIP for your '69 Ranchero , I couldn't find it . Any pictures ?
  16. That's a great looking car ! Congrats on finishing it , better late than never .
  17. Oh wow that's really well done ! The color turned out near perfect and the varnished look of the wood grain is excellent !
  18. Thanks Carl ! It had to be done , I wouldn't have been able to sleep otherwise . Thanks David ! It was a bit scary cutting it apart and starting over but all's well that ends well . Thanks much Ray !
  19. This is really cool , I like what you're able to do with a 3D printer ! Your wheels and decals look great too !
  20. Quick and beautifully done ! I love that Tamiya Light Blue paint and your foil is looking really good , glad that mess is over with .
  21. Thanks Patrick ! I'm using a '69 GT grille .
  22. After I glued the bed in place and finished the rear window I started on the body work and discovered some major problems . The bed was square with the cab but the entire rear section of the body was skewed to the left side , and the quarter panels were flared out towards the rear . This made the width from wheel opening lip to wheel opening lip 3/32" to wide and the taillights 5/32" too far apart . The only way I could see to fix everything was to cut the quarter panels , taillights , and tailgate from the body and start all over ! Out came the razor saw and after cutting , a lot of measuring , and gluing it all back together , I was satisfied it was all square and started on the body work . It took about a week and a half for all of this but it had to be done . Still needs a little putty and sanding , some work around the taillight areas , and the rear bumper needs to be refit . Thanks for looking !
  23. Beautifully done ! I really like the subtle colors and your wheel mods look great !
  24. Thanks Anton and Patrick , I built this so many years ago I never expected to see it brought back up . I always planned on fixing the header panel and both front & rear bumpers but time went by and it never happened , still it looks good on the shelf with my other El Camino's .
  25. Always liked these cars and yours is a very sharp looking build Eric , well done ! I bought a couple of these models when I was on Okinawa in '75 , wish I still had them .
