Wow I really like that color , beautiful Impala Jim !

Looks great Ray ! Depending on the type of racing those tires sticking out may not be to far off . We had a customer that built one for racing with Corvette suspension/wheels & tires and they stuck out just like that .

70s cars as they really were!

$1400 sounds about right , mine barely ran and smoked like a locomotive but the engine swap really brought it back to life ! Never should have sold it . -

This is my '69 Camaro RS that I bought in 1974 for $700 , it had a very worn 307 with a 3-speed on the floor . I swapped in a 350 otherwise this is just how I bought it , when I got back from overseas in '78 I drove it a few months then sold it for $800 . Really fun car ! -
Well done ! I agree . . . there's just something about a GTX . . .

Both are beautifully done but I really like the Pearl Blue one , it shows how nice these kits really are ! And no tire lettering please , it would ruin the stock look .

1969 Ranchero GT
TooOld replied to TooOld's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The taillights are just printed on sticker paper for a mockup and to give me the shape for body work , I'll make the actual taillights later . Where's the WIP for your '69 Ranchero , I couldn't find it . Any pictures ? -
Oh wow that's really well done ! The color turned out near perfect and the varnished look of the wood grain is excellent !

Thanks Carl ! It had to be done , I wouldn't have been able to sleep otherwise . Thanks David ! It was a bit scary cutting it apart and starting over but all's well that ends well . Thanks much Ray ! -
Quick and beautifully done ! I love that Tamiya Light Blue paint and your foil is looking really good , glad that mess is over with .

1969 Ranchero GT
TooOld replied to TooOld's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
After I glued the bed in place and finished the rear window I started on the body work and discovered some major problems . The bed was square with the cab but the entire rear section of the body was skewed to the left side , and the quarter panels were flared out towards the rear . This made the width from wheel opening lip to wheel opening lip 3/32" to wide and the taillights 5/32" too far apart . The only way I could see to fix everything was to cut the quarter panels , taillights , and tailgate from the body and start all over ! Out came the razor saw and after cutting , a lot of measuring , and gluing it all back together , I was satisfied it was all square and started on the body work . It took about a week and a half for all of this but it had to be done . Still needs a little putty and sanding , some work around the taillight areas , and the rear bumper needs to be refit . Thanks for looking ! -
Beautifully done ! I really like the subtle colors and your wheel mods look great !

1976 El Camino SS
TooOld replied to TooOld's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Anton and Patrick , I built this so many years ago I never expected to see it brought back up . I always planned on fixing the header panel and both front & rear bumpers but time went by and it never happened , still it looks good on the shelf with my other El Camino's . -
Always liked these cars and yours is a very sharp looking build Eric , well done ! I bought a couple of these models when I was on Okinawa in '75 , wish I still had them .
-
Awesome build , all of your mods really make this one unique '32 ! Love the top , is it cloth or tape (or both) ?
-
Well done Eric , it looks great in Grabber Orange !
-
Beautiful Corvette Tommy ! I agree this kit is not junk and your build proves it !

Great job on the repaint , that color is beautiful ! Really like those Kelsey Hayes wheels !
