  1. Beautiful '55 Bill , glad you were finally able to finish it ! Scavenging the scripts and emblems from old diecast must have been a real chore . And I agree that the '55-'56 Fords are much nicer looking than the Chevys , and I'm a Chevy guy !
  2. Beautiful looking sedan Steve , that color goes perfectly with the wide whites ! Nice looking young lady too !
  3. Thanks for the suggestions ! I have the kits mentioned so I did some checking . . . the Monogram '59 Caddy tires aren't even close . The AMT '57 Chrysler look identical except the tire lettering isn't as crisp , maybe they were also in a newer kit ? I don't think they are Modelhaus as I got them on Ebay really cheap . All four whitewall inserts are identical so I'm thinking they all came in the same kit , guess that's not necessarily true . The fronts I can't find anywhere . As for the Cragars . . . The El Camino and Chevelle Wagon have really nice ones but they have a deeper offset than these , not concerned about the mounting posts . I also checked several other AMT kits that have Cragars and either they don't have the S/S caps or they have different offsets . A couple like the Baldwin Motion Camaro has a really nice set but the spokes are more rounded without the flat tops , I've seen real Cragars both ways so it seems both are correct . I'm not to concerned about finding the Cragars but I really want another set of the tires so I'll keep looking . Thanks guys !
  4. Can anybody tell me which kit these wheels and tires come in ? I know there are similar ones in a few kits but these are exactly what I've been looking for . Pretty sure they are from AMT .

That's gonna look great when you're finished ! I really like the black primer with those wheels , but no black on the bumpers . . . chrome please !
  6. Beautifully done Tony and congrats on the award , very well deserved ! Built these as a kid but never did them justice , sure would like to try them again !
  7. Beautiful color and detailing ! The engine and chassis details are excellent !
  8. Also known as the Silver Sapphire . Most collectors refer to this kit as the Ram Rod/Silver Sapphire kit .
  9. Thanks very much Alan , I agree these 1/32nd kits are great fun ! I started buying them for the box art and just recently tried building a couple of them ,so much fun I definitely plan on building a few more !
  10. The top looks great Steve , I like the paint you used for the vinyl top even if it is too shiny , I'll try some on my next top and deal with the shine somehow . I'm also surprise that the masking tape didn't pull the BMF off , I bet you were very very careful !
  11. Looking at the photos it's hard to tell what's BMF and what's foil , your hand is steadier than mine ! I guess we'll survive without using BMF . Seriously though , we're all critical of our own work but from what I can see it turned out great . . . Congrats !
  12. That looks great , I like your Vicky body !
  13. Perfect color for a '70 and nice detailing ! That diecast looks pretty nice too !
  14. Glad to hear , I'll go check it out !
  15. That dash and steering wheel look terrific ! I like the PE rivets added to the steering wheel .
  16. Beautifully done Jim ! I like everything you've done here , but the washes and detail on the engine really catch my eye . Excellent work !
  17. Haven't seen one of these built for a loooong time and yours is excellent ! The paint and added details along with the use of Spaztix really make it stand out , really nicely done !
  18. All decals have a clear lacquer coating or binder and as the decals age this coating degrades to a point where the decal disintegrates when dipped in water , the solution is to recoat the decals with a clear spray of some kind . A clear lacquer such as Testors works the best , but just about any clear will work . Be careful with acrylic clear sprays like Krylon . While they dry very flexible which is a good thing , the decals also end up being easily stretched . With small decals this isn't a problem but with larger decals the stretching will actually crack the ink as you apply the decal ruining your day . Also be aware that decal solvents and setting solutions can dissolve Krylon if over used also dissolving the ink , so use them sparingly . Clear lacquers don't dissolve as easily and don't stretch . Bottom line is you can use any spray clear but always try to test it first on your decals so there are no surprises .
  19. Wow ! Very very well done ! One of my favorite cars and driver from that era .
