  1. You nailed it ! The Day-Glo Red looks spot on !
  2. This was a fun break from a long term project I've been working on . The body is from a 1/43 diecast and the rest is miscellaneous goodies from my parts boxes . Paint is '63 Ford Glacier Blue cleared with TS-13 and I added a couple of my own decals . Not for everybody but Zingers are a fun change from the every day builds !
  3. Scribing the panel lines so they're deeper before paint is a good idea but forget about using wash in them afterwards . Most of the time they end up way too dark and it doesn't look realistic . . . just my two cents .
  4. Oh my that is drop dead gorgeous !! And I really like it in Hugger Orange .
  5. Very cool build of one of Gurney's lesser known race cars ! Love that you have it set up to race on your slot car track !
  6. Thanks Bill ! Thanks Tom ! Ah yes the seat covers . . . we had them . Clear vinyl , they got kinda hot in the summer months . No real progress made lately but I did print some sample decals to see how they will look , these are reduced to the size they'll be when I do the seats . The top one is my original artwork and the bottom one was lightened up a bit just to see what looks better . I'm going to stick with the original one .
  7. Try Tamiya TS-56 Brilliant Orange , it's the same as Grabber Orange .
  8. Thanks Dave ! Foiling may be the way to go , I'm going to paint a coupe of samples and see how it goes .
  9. Thanks again everybody !
  10. Made a lot of progress on the seats over the weekend but didn't take many photos . Basically I did the same as with the side panels by making patterns on .005" sheet and cutting them apart into separate pieces . When glued to the seats they left a nice groove and sharp edges for the piping . The scale is for sizing the seat decals later . I used .020" rod for the piping , it's probably too big but the next smaller size I had was .010" and that seemed way to small . The piping needs to be painted silver and there's no way I could paint that small stuff ! It will all get sanded down slightly before paint so hopefully it will be okay . I realized why the courtesy lamps I added earlier looked out of place . . . they're supposed to be down on the armrests . Duh . Lastly I spent some time on my computer creating artwork for the seat decals . Top is the 1960 Dodge upholstery pattern and the bottom is my artwork . By transferring the patterns to the artwork I should be able to print some decals that will fit right in place .
  11. Yes it does keep getting better ! I found the DecoArt One Step Crackle on Amazon , can't wait to give it a try !
  12. Very well done Steve , everything about it looks just right !
  13. I think this is the first time anybody has clearly shown how to do this , Thanks ! What is the "crackle medium" you talk about ?
  14. Great idea making the harness ! I've done the same thing and after painting it black you can paint the individual wires different colors where they attach to the components . Test your paint first . I used some craft paint and it made the wires much thicker than I planned .
  15. It's all good Dave , I do the same thing all the time .
  16. Wow I love that color , should be beautiful when finished !
  17. I've always wanted to open the cowl vents but never attempted it , but after seeing how nice they look I'll definitely give it a shot !
  18. Great work modifying the firewall and intake !
  19. Thanks Bill ! I'm doubt it would be up to the expectations of a buyer so no resin copies in the future .
  20. Great work foiling that baby , she's beautiful ! Would be hard to top it but never say never .
  21. Great execution and a really cool looking conversion , great job !

    Blue Dream

Well done Dave ! Saw this over on CCII a while back and I still think it's the best Rommel's Rod conversion ever !
  23. Looking forward to this one Dave ! Love the wheel/tire combo you picked , especially with the wide whites .
