  1. Greg, please don't assume that old threads are not valuable when revisited. Lots of modellers quite new to the hobby will have come on board since then who will benefit from info that you may consider of no real use and 'old hat' to you. It is all too easy to dismiss things that very experienced modellers like yourself take for granted with the benefit of being an old hand at the game so to speak. I can remember starting out all those years back and my many disasters along the way through lack of knowing about inexpensive things that I could buy and use when money was tight.
  2. Bought something similar at a show over here in the UK. Plenty good enough for plastics, wood, brass and aluminium such as most of us use. Aluminium and plastics can bind on drill bits if used in a power tool at higher revs.
  3. Holloway House Floor Shine in the Green labelled carton. Does same as Johnson's Klear/Future/Revive It.
  4. Same product , just imported to UK. As said In an earlier post Lakeland stock it. At about £16 on the face of it, expensive compared to the Johnson's stuff. But in the grand scheme of things much cheaper per ml or fluid ounce than dedicated modelling clears. Don't know who else might stock it in the UK however.
  5. I have never seen Scottie sub titled in Star Trek. Lol. Language is a funny thing, especially dialects. I watched Swamp People some time ago and can generally understand a Southern US accent alright. But there was one character on the programme who's accent was completely unintelligible, but no sub titles. He is an alligator Hunter and what he had to say would probably have been very interesting if I could have understood him.
  6. Speaking of Native English speaking. Why do Microsoft Refer to English as English European and not just English? I can understand the term US English as many of our words are spelt differently in the States.
  7. Incredible what you are doing with that old Tamiya Lola kit Mark. Real dedication with the detailing. Will this model be the outright winner of the last GSL I wonder?
  8. This model is coming on really well. Great choice of subject. Those big MFH kits are quite challenging and bring out some really good subjects that mainstream kit manufacturers shy away from. Would be nice if MFH brought out a Bentley Blower to compliment this one or a Bugatti Type 59 also would be very, very nice I believe that Zero paints have this particular colour green in their range.
  9. Leroy in Tenessee re. C1 Polishing Powder, I understand you are having problems locating their website. Have another go at a web search and put in. C1 Models. This should find it for you. Once you get onto it you will find that they have a very nice range of resin trans kits. The James Bond 'Spectre' inspired trans kits to use the Revell Land Rover as a donor kit look quite spectacular.
  10. Going that thin with brass or aluminium you will be looking at sheet material. You will have to cut strips from it by scoring it with a craft knife and steel rule on a cutting board. If you are looking to solder it then brass would be preferable.
  11. Good old White Spirit from a hardware store should do the trick for thinning enamels.
  12. C1 Metallized Powder is really good. Buff it onto a gloss black and it will come up really well. It also is much more durable than the spray on chrome finishes and much more forgiving when handled. It is good stuff to experiment with over other gloss and matt colour finishes to obtain different aluminium effects. C1 is a UK company and has a website. They do some really nice resin trans kits too. Their latest trans kits are for versions of the James Bond 'Spectre' Land Rovers to convert the Revell Kit. They also make a trans kit to convert the Revell Land Rover into a pickup with optional tow crane.
  13. Matt will do justice to this like all his builds! I like following his various forum threads. Incidentally Motobitz in the UK make a nice set of 3D printed wire wheels for this kit.
  14. Maybe a cheap second-hand Windows Laptop or Netbook might be the answer if the CD roms are compatible.
  15. A very nice take on the Land Rover. Good model, wear and tear, mods done etc.
  16. Beautifully executed small diorama Steve. The beaten up truck and groundwork are most realistic, and it is not often that auto modellers have equal talent in painting figures too. Excellent!
  17. Lovely diorama. Plenty of 'atmosphere' with all the incidental items around the place.
  18. Very nice build progress Dennis. Just shows what can be done with an elderly kit. Where did you source the LS3 engine from?
  19. Possibly pictures taken at shows by magazine staff or an enthusiast turn up in various magazines and therefore difficult to credit if the modeller's name is not by the exhibit at the time.
  20. Thanks for putting the video on here Theo.
  21. Spotmodel's prices are generally competitive I agree, having looked on their site. Some UK dealers have kits at good prices. Wonderland Models in Edinburgh is one that I can think of.
  22. I will have to trawl around some sites and compare prices. Some mark up a lot more than others I noticed she I have been looking for other kits.
  23. Loved his style of Rock n Roll on his piano. One of the greats along with Chuck Berry.
  24. Al, thanks for the reply. Is it possible to put the HPIGUY's video on here? Alternatively, I guess it might probably be on Youtube so I will have a look on there.
