Removing Clear Blush.....?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So I was gonna try to pick up some Scratch-X next time at the auto parts store. From what I've read and seen, it would be perfect for removing the little bit of blush on the hood of my Impala....... I have a question on how to use it, tho. Do I use it like a wax (apply, haze, remove) or should I actually polish with it? Thanks for any insight on this...................................... -
One of Lindbergs Better kits (Impala) foiled
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Almost got this one foiled, still need to do the trim down the other side then I can start final assembly! I'll paint the headliner and trim the foil on the inside of the body, of course..... This will probably be the last update from this one until it's Under Glass.......... Thanks for looking, comment freely.......... -
Is it just me, or has the site slowed down again?

I'm seeing the "This comment can no longer be edited........" box on MY computer.... only in this topic. Weird............ -
Happy belated BirthDay, Carl! So tell us what you did, A nice dinner perhaps?

Very Nice Model! The paint is nice and slick, and you did great with the decals........... I've always liked Foose's REAL designed cars, not so much the ones he just adds stripes and rims to. The TerraCuda, FD-100, Impression, all first rate designs..... There is a thread in the 1:1 section about an Impala named Imposter, that's a nice car..................... I've been wanting to do a large scale kit for a while, this just may be the one I take a stab at...............

I've always liked the look of this concept, but the wheels are all wrong....... any of you Photoshop gurus care to take a stab at it? Maybe some recall or turbine wheels, with blue streak tires? Harry?

Well, ThanksGiving is upon us, so I thought I would go out and shoot my first turkey....... You should have seen the looks on the faces of the people in the frozen foods section!

Hey, Friend..... I've never seen anyone mask where they were gonna foil. Sure is an interesting technique, can't wait to see how it works out for you!

That sounds very uncharacteristic of Dupli-Color....... The Perfect Match paints go on super thin. Are you using the big cans? I get good results from the small touch-up cans......

FaceBook.....!! Happy Birthday, man...................!

THAT is Way Awesome! Are you going to keep it and drive it, or is it going in a museum? Awesome............!!

Pledge Floor Care, odd behavior?

I have never used Future, so I may be way off base, but you didn't shake it up did you? I know regular polyurethane for wood can't be shaken or you'll get air bubbles in it......... kinda sounds like what you are experiencing...... -
Just more reasons I think I would like to be able to pay to just link photos directly to the forum from my computer......... I have 5 or 6 pages of attachments to the forum and have only used 1/4 of my allotted space.

Removing Clear Blush.....?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, Bill........ It's DupliColor's Perfect Match clear, and it's just a bit of humidity blush. -
I was wondering what would be the best product for removing a little cloudiness that I got in the hood of my Impala. I don't want anything that's gonna haze the finish, since I would then have to polish it back out.... Would Novus 1 do the trick? How about a wax of some sort from Advance Auto? Thank You, you friendly and knowledgeable bunch of Guys, you..............!!

custom mixed canned paints question
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the awesome info, Guys! If I didn't live in an apartment, I would already have an air brush setup, until I can get a proper vented booth it's aerosols for me..... -
I just found this site while searching around for custom matched paints for an upcoming project. Looks like a legitimate business, and they can do aerosols! and they are cheaper than MCW aerosols..... http://www.paintscratch.com/ Their cans are 12 ozs. and run about $25, MCW cans are like 4 ozs. and run near $15....... Check them out, you may can find that perfect factory color you've been hunting..................

ACRYLIC from now on

If you don't already have some, you're gonna love Tamiya acrylic transparent red for taillights....... it has a nice smell to it, like cough syrup! -
This is a joke, right?
