JF's '61 Olds is available again.........
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks, Bill man.... That helps a bunch! and If I get the custom Pontiac kit, I'll have a cool button-tuck interior and such kustom stuff..... So which engine would be best suited for the build? Would the 421 be pretty close? -
I just saw where the '61 Oldsmobile Super 88 from Jimmy Flintstone has became available again. I really want to get one this time around! I have a quick question, though...... I have a '61 Impala that has fallen to disrepair that I want to use the chassis from. Would this be an ideal chassis for this project? It looks like the glass may even be the same between the two cars? Also, if I wanted to add an engine, what engine would be the one to use? Has anyone built one of these? If so, please share!
-
I wanted to show you guys what I'm doing to the glass.... They designed the kit to have ~200 parts or more, but the glass is all one piece! I wanted the door glasses opened so the interior could be seen better. Just using my scriber to work most of the way thru, then finishing with a PE saw blade... There is a definite groove around the opening, so I just followed that.....
-
So as not to get too bogged down with all the small detail parts, I'm calling the chassis done...... I don't want to get burned out and start losing interest before I'm halfway done! Anyway, here's the 'finished' chassis.... I can always come back later and add the rest....

She has a paisley blanket........

That's two days worth of work there! There wasn't too much adjustment needed, as everything pretty much falls together... Thanks for the nice comment...... Edit.... Anton, did you mean did I change the ride height? No, I'm just going out of the box with this. Maybe a future build can have a lowered stance with some nice wheels....
-
The rear suspension is next on the instructions..... There's just a few more parts to the underside, then it's on to the interior! Thanks for looking and for any comments, good or bad....

Baking Powder as Flocking?
JollySipper replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The kit I'm working on has all the steel stampings in the floor board. I need a way to cover that.... I may just end up ordering some actual flocking material..... -
Hey, guys...... I believe that I read somewhere that you could use baking powder as a flocking material, for carpets and such. Has anyone had any luck trying this? Of course, it would need to be painted..... If so, any tips? Thanks...

I guess that's it for the engine bay! I'm really havin' a blast, guys! I just hope I'm doing this great little kit justice.... If y'all happen to see something that I could be doing different/better, please point it out! Thanks! and Comment freely......

Thanks, Anton! but I'm barely getting started....... There's still a BUNCH more to do.
-
A bit more progress today! There's still more to add to the engine bay, then the radiator/support assembly can go on.....
-
That's a really good build....... I was having trouble getting the engine in the bay.... I had to remove the cross member and mount the engine directly to it. Then I just installed the engine from the bottom. Now I just have to reattach the steering and fan...... Thanks for looking in!

1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
JollySipper replied to Captain Spaulding's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Not a problem! I would have hated to see you do all that work to have it fight you at the end...... This is a really good kit, though........ -
Next on the instructions is the front suspension..... The front strut/rotor assembly is five parts per side. Next is to install the engine, then it's on to under hood details... This being my first Fujimi Enthusiast kit, I'm trying to follow the directions to the letter! Thanks!

Are you familiar with the fit issues with this kit? If not, you'll want to read through this thread...... He does a real good job showing how to deal with them....... -
Yea, it did work out...... two months later! Here's more work on the engine. The exhaust manifold and fan have been added.
-
Hey, Fellas! I'm at kind of a standstill with the Viper until I can get some paint for the body, so I decided to start this kit. It's the same kit that my friend Anton has going here in the WIP section.... The Fujimi BMW M635 CSi. It's an Enthusiast kit, so lots of parts! This is what I have done over the last couple days. I still have to install the exhaust manifold, which is ten parts by itself. This will be built out of box... The plan for the colors is Deep Jewel Green from Duplicolor with a "Dove" and black interior... Anyway, this is what I have going on! Please feel free with questions & comments.....

Yea, there are snakes here too...... That was one concern that I had, but these little birds are fiesty! I've seen momma birds chase off crows, vultures, snakes, anything in their territory....... I'm sure they looked out for their young just fine.
-
What better way to learn about the Bimmers than to build one? This is the Fujimi Enthusiast kit....... Looks like a super nice kit, if a bit overwhelming! It being my first EM kit, I hope I can do it justice........
