What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
PatW replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Having had my new LEGO Ducati delivered last week, I thought I'd start building it. Here we have the frame, engine, gear box, rear swinging arm, with mono-shock suspension and rear hub awaiting the rear brake disc. It's good to realise when turning the parts connected the two white rubber bands the V-four cylinder engine and pistons pop up and down in the cylinders. About 100+ parts already used. -
Thanks espo yes either rust or just dirt!

Richard Lloyd Racing Canon Porsche 956
PatW replied to curt raitz's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Well done, very nice indeed. I was marshaling at Silverstone Circuit just 5 miles from here, when Richard was testing this car prior to the Le Mans race that year! -
Thanks Les. Yes the EMPI decals are in this kit.

Funny name for a Beetle. Built box stock, changed the exhaust as it seemed a bit weedy, added very small plastic tube, slightly larger alloy tube and a larger one then the large pipe to finish. Decals from the kit and a few from the collection..

Just coming to the end of a Revell Baja Chopper build.. -
Hi Claude thanks for your comments, my son's real Beetle is the black one we re-built from the ground up. The Orange Manx has the tops of the wings cut out to let the air out at top speed, having been to Le Mans seeing the top class sports car teams using that method to stop the air pressure under the wings at speed to stop them taking off, not that the Manx would! Another view below. The decals are home printed as is the surfboard home made from a plaster cast. Oh and just finishing this off..

Scratchbuilt from a Flintstone resin body.. Another scratchbuild from a resin body.. Plus seven various Meyers Manx.

Having received a LEGO Land Rover Defender kit from our eldest son who is in Canada for my birthday I had to tell him I had last year already bought and built one! He contacted Amazon who sent him, which was forwarded to me a returns pack. I sent it to the address as requested to Bratislava. 6 weeks on it came back unopened although I had tracked it to their warehouse there. I then put it on e bay UK and it sold. With that cash I bought another LEGO kit.. I will start to build it as soon as I have finished my present project. And from the rest of the cash from the sale of the Lego Land Rover.. A friend rallied one of these in the day, when he had a rally spares shop. He went on to be the team chief at Peugeot Rally Team GB.

What did you see on the road today?

It's my wife's smart phone, we neither of us understand the jargon in the instructions! I have a dumb phone that I might use once or twice a month, my phone number is known only to my wife and our two sons! -

In our small town, parked on the path outside the town hall, an American black Ford Pickup with British plates designated 1966. It was on the ground all round with I suppose air suspension. Took photo's on my wife's phone but can't work out how to download them to this PC! The instructions to me look like a foreign language as I don't use a mobile phone! I must take my camera with me when I go out for a walk, which is everyday. -
Thanks guys. Yes you take out the luggage box and remove the engine lid and crouch on the cross member between the rear hubs!

Another purchase through ebay UK, but with parts of the engine missing as described! So as I had, had experience building kit cars and a friend bought refurbed and sold one of these I knew that the size of the engine block was about the area of the Twin-Cam cylinder head plus the depth. The rest of the engine ancillaries were still in the box so added to the block plus a resin cast VW Beetle gearbox, slightly shortened to fit between the rear hubs. The luggage bin.. The engine lid.. And the steering works a treat!

Superb all of them! My favourite is the Mercury.

Has anyone out there bought from BNL Resins? I've sent two emails about buying goods and shipping to the UK, but they don't answer emails it seems!

SELF-DRIVING CARS: THE HYPE VERSUS REALITY
PatW replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well after seeing in the press and on TV here in the UK about the Tesla that crashed and burned on autopilot with two guys supposedly in the back seats at the beginning of their journey, found in the front when it crashed into a tree on a tight bend. I'll hand my licence back if the government here allow these non-driver cars on our roads. -
From my dear old ebay UK.. at a reasonable price But this wasn't.. It went for an eye watering £102! I want one but not at that price!
