  1. "Single malt Scotch" means everything in the bottle comes from a single distillery, but may be a blend of whiskeys of several ages...as long as they were all produced at the same distillery.
  2. Other people can only run your life if you let them.
  3. On the way home from the shop mid-afternoon, saw a red Lamborghini Countach, complete with the hideous and draggy rear wing. Pretty sure it was legit, as the 5-hole wheels, rim/tire widths, exhausts, and proportions were all right. The replicas rarely get all 4. Guy was driving like grandma though, and I was too far away to hear the engine.
  4. Man's got a definite point. I just bought a semi-creampuff rust-free (but high mileage) 1996 S10 Blazer with leather interior and power everything for $2500. No, it's not a gas-sipper or FWD, but it will always be worth as much as I paid for it, and it gets great mileage compared to my '99 GMC longbed pickup. AC doesn't work (works fine, except there's a freon leak) but the heater will melt the soles of your sneakers. I haven't had a vehicle with a decent heater since somewhere around 2018 (when my '92 Silverado dropped a valve), so this is a real treat.
  5. "Time is of the essence of this agreement" is often part of the legalese on contract documents, so always be sure to remember the significance of the passage of time, because the passage of time is significant, and we should be deeply aware of its significance, and consider its significance, because considering the significance of the passage of time is in and of itself significant.
  6. Times change, but stupid continues unabated forever.
  7. Should you go along to get along, or should you rock the boat if you see it's going in the wrong direction...like over a waterfall?
  8. Saturday nights from 8 PM to 2 AM Eastern US time, WABE Atlanta streams a locally-produced classic jazz show that I particularly enjoy working to...sometimes. There are many streams from 30 minutes long to continuous 24/7 available on yootoob, everything from classical to "classic rock" to dark film-noir-style jazz to blues to "epic" and period music and "vaporwave". The $14 monthly YT "premium" membership gives access to a wider array of commercial-free music than anything else I've found. Soma FM also streams an eclectic assortment of music styles. https://somafm.com/ I stream what I want through my computer and run the speaker output through my sound system amp and main speakers. I will not listen to tinny little-speaker sound, or anything with commercials.
  9. Thanks. I didn't know that. So that's probably where one of the better 409s I have from unknown sources came from. I was never really interested in the full-size '65 Chevy previously, but it was so cheap, I just kinda had to let it follow me home. One thing I do remember from when I arrived in the Atlanta suburbs in 1969 was that the '65 Chevy was the most-stolen car in the metropolitan area.
  10. Been there more times than I can count. I finally learned "no" isn't anywhere near as hard to say as I'd apparently thought.
  11. "Shot down in flames" is always a possibility but might be worth the risk for a good one, and remember: "Faint heart never won fair lady".
  12. I wasn't familiar with that one, but in the course of researching it I ran across the fact that early '65s could be had with 409s. The iron 409 is a heavy lump, but aftermarket aluminum blocks and heads can fix that, so this one will get built representing a 409 car with current upgrades. Probably a stout 5-speed manual and Jag-derived IRS to finish it off, with tubular front A-arms, etc. Big fat car with loads of grunt, that handles like a Jag XJ. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/sucp-0912-merlinx-409-engine-prototype/
  13. Success to me means not having to fix messes I didn't make ever again.
  14. Here's one for ya...
  15. Gorgeous car. I have a very nice diecast, so I'm looking forward to seeing this built.
  16. Dialog would be nice, but back-and-forth nanny-nanny-boo-boo-poo-poo-ka-ka kinda turns my stomach.
  17. Another thrift store find: sealed NOS Monogram '65 Chevy SS 396 CHEAP...too cheap to let it go. Partially crushed box, rolled the dice, got it home...everything IN the box is 100%. It wants to be something kinda like this...semi sleeper smallblock-powered pro-touring, fat blackwalls, steel-look 18" alloys, poverty caps etc. (yes, I know it's not a '65 in the dark-car photo).
  18. Having to be an adult for the next 90 minutes and watch two grown people argue like little children.
  19. Will to survive ultimately separates little dwerbiges from big mean mans who eat their food and take all their stuff.
  20. If you look at a lot of old threads, it's not uncommon to see paint "pull away" from edges and door openings, etc. (leaving a light or dark outline next to the panel line or edge) when it's shot over bare plastic, though remarkably, many builders don't even notice. Primering and sanding prior to painting is definitely recommended. EDIT: I also recommend scuffing bare plastic with hot water, Comet, and a toothbrush prior to primer. Works much better than sanding, doesn't obliterate fine detail like scripts, and gets into all the little nooks and crevices. Rinse very well, dry, then wipe with 70% isopropyl alcohol on a clean white paper towel.
  21. Dream big, work hard to make your dreams reality.
  22. One of my favorite vehicles. So easy I'll probably pass.
