  1. I'm making progress on the Mustang. I wanted the exhaust to come through the rear valance so I made that happen, I used 1/4 inch tube for the chrome trim around the holes and will add chrome tips. I also added lower rocker molding to dress it up a bit and subframe connectors to stiffen up the convertible floor pan. I'm going to be using the stock 289 but I added a T5 five speed from a 90s Fox body.
  2. That's exactly what I've been looking for for my GT350R build. I'll certainly be getting one.
  3. They joined a long line of trucks to be damaged in hauler accidents. The original King Kong and Taurus were basically destroyed and Modern Day Outlaw was damaged in three separate incidents in the 80s.
  4. There are a few model car sub-Reddits I hang around. Hearing the perspective of the younger guys who will inherit the hobby one day is interesting.
  5. In all my years of building I've never owned one of the venerable Monogram 55 Chevies. I decided to rectify that situation with the latest release of the kit. I cut the molded in exhaust out and replaced the rear end to get more lift. The wheels are a combo of two sets fron Jay's on ebay. The engine is from the Monogram 71 Cuda with random bits for the blower as well as the decals.
  6. Does anyone have one of the old Revell 1/25 kits and would be willing to take some measurements for me? I need to build a 74 CJ-5 and this kit might be a great donor for the front end.
  7. They're in the makeup palette, the plastic sheet covers over the little powder pots and separates them from the inside of the lid or mirror.
  8. Here's a source for super thin and clear plastic sheets, makeup palettes. My wife is a makeup junkie and every palette she buys has a sheet of crystal clear plastic that's paper thin and whatever size the palette is. I used some for vent windows on a recent build and they practically disappear.
  9. The Scalemates page for this kit has the instructions for the regular version for download, that will cover all but the Foose specific stuff.
  10. I use the Dremel cutoff wheels. Wear safety glasses and be careful, the axle can get pretty hot. If you don't have that much to remove you can deepen the holes in the wheels a bit too.
  11. This could be it, we thought they got the scale wrong on the 81 Camaro last year and it ended up being the old Revell snap kit instead of the Monogram 79 kit.
  12. True, and it's a bit crude for today. 3d printed would be the way to go if one was available.
  13. There's an AMC straight six in the recent Pacer kits.
  14. I use the same stuff, I was just saying it could be used that way.
  15. Interesting, I was probably going to use the engine from the Revell 62.
  16. I actually decant brake cleaner into an old Pro Weld bottle and use it for glue.
  17. Thank you, this is the kind of info I was looking for. I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something odd about the snap kit that made fitting a different chassis harder than it should be.
  18. I agree, it's more about they're being weird aspects of the kit design making it more difficult than it should be.
  19. Probably the coupe, the interiors are most likely the closest. Though below it looks like you're better off using the 63 interior.
  20. Has anyone tried to put the Revell snap 63 split window on the full detail 67 Corvette chassis?
  21. I think you could move a good number of those. They get asked about a decent amount, people like them because they're weird. I know I'd take one just to throw in an early 60s Dodge of some kind.
  22. Yeah, these were on the list of things I was wondering if Atlantis had gotten if they were even still around. These kits do have the best grille of all the early 80s Ford truck kits though.
  23. The c4 and c6 are pretty similar in where the transmission cooler lines come from. Once the lines come out of the transmission body they run up the passenger side frame rail to the radiator support then either into the radiator or into their own cooler depending on how the system was designed. 24. I'm going to change my entry, I had to get another body for the Falcon and doing the body work over again this late isn't appealing to me. I bought some convertible parts off ebay I'm going to combine with a 66 shelby to do a 66 shelby convertible. I'm still deciding if I want a classic or modernish engine, a 5.0 and a 5 speed would be more Cannonball appropriate.
  25. It says it fits the 1/24 scale 64-66 kits Monogram did and Revell still reissues.
