  1. That is such a cool build and so much done to such a rough kit.
  2. I didn't want to want one of these but the pics are tempting me.
  3. The 39 Chevy wagon is getting reissued so fresh sets should be available soon.
  4. Here's the link to his website. https://tx3dcustoms.com/
  5. Yeah, you're right about that. They fixed where the tires would be backwards on one side but the kit rims still don't fit well. I used the wheels from the Deserter truck and they looked much better.
  6. These look great, this fills a big need to be able to back date these trucks.
  7. I got the yellow on my 81 Mustang. It's been so humid here painting outside has been difficult but it turned out okay. I'm going to give it a few days to cure then start masking for the black lower half. I'm waiting on some front tires to finalize the suspension ride height but I'm pretty certain I've got the wheels picked out.
  8. The Tamiya Lunchbox was based on a real vehicle. The Rollin' Thunder monster van was one of the early monster trucks and was purchased in about 1987 by some Japanese guys who toured it extensively around Japan.
  9. Something similar has been in the last few issues of the Moebius Ford trucks. If you post in the Wanted section Someone might have an extra set.
  10. Fair enough, it's been a while since I looked at removing these. I thought they were a bit more free standing.
  11. Very nice, I'd take 2 from whoever makes them.
  12. One other thing to mention, the shock towers under the hood are notched at the top. This is a carryover from the original 1/24 Boss 429 kit and only accurate for 429 cars.
  13. I believe you've gotten about as much paint off as you're going to get. It almost looks like the paint etched the plastic and some of the pigment is now in the surface of the body. I would start normal body prep and as long as it takes primer without wrinkling you should be in the clear.
  14. The 620 was available in a long bed also, the kit represents the short bed. The pic of the white truck almost looks like a long bed which has then been bobbed between the rear wheels and tail gate.
  15. I guess they decided to focus their tooling budget on things that were more bang for their buck like fixing the horrible front end this kit used to have. The 302 and flat hood are also new for this version of the kit. The posts in the interior tub can be dealt with pretty easily with a photoetch saw and a sanding stick.
  16. Ideally they would but removing them for some versions but leaving them in the Shelby versions where they are correct would probably mean fairly significant mods to the tool. You'd have to cut the inside of the interior face of the tool to accept a removable insert then cut two interiors because you will most likely destroy the existing interior to create the cavity for the insert. It seems like a lot of expense and complication for something that's pretty easy to do on the user end.
  17. Yep, there are a lot of vestigial parts in the 69 Mustang now. The extra engine parts are for the 428 Cobra Jet that has been the engine in every other version of the kit. The extra scoops are for the various Shelby and Mach 1 body styles that have been produced. The roll bar is for the Shelby convertible and the posts molded into the interior bucket are easy to remove. The rear widows are fixed on the fastback models but do roll down on convertibles.
  18. I'm going to build one eventually, I just have to look more into the changes I need to make. My grandfather was aboard CV-19, the Hancock, in the late 50s. By the time he was on it the Essex class carrier's were getting mods and the Hancock got the hurricane bow, angled flight deck, and the better of the available steam catapults. The old Renwal Shangri-la is very close to how the Hancock ended up but the elevator is in the wrong spot. Some of the Essex carriers had their elevator right behind the con tower and on others they were closer to the stern. I can't remember which one the Renwal kit has but it's wrong for the Hancock so I have to move it. I also want to build the plane he was a flight mechanic on, an A-7B Corsair II from VF-154. I have both kits, just need to focus on them.
  19. The Titan was one of the first reissues in the late 2000s. Whether the T-600 can come back or not depends on how they restored the W-925 kit.
  20. It is, and yes, it is much better than just a straight reissue. It just seems to be the way it goes sometimes.
  21. I figures, I bought the resin copies of the unique parts in the kit so of course they bring it back now.
  22. After thinking about this for a while I almost blame the host more than the owner of the car. The host is in control of the situation and as soon as something went wrong with the car and didn't resolve itself quickly it was his responsibility to shut the shoot down until the car was right again. I work for a utility company and anyone on a jobsite can stop the work if any part of the job becomes unsafe. The owner might have had this happen other times and become complacent because the throttle unstuck itself more easily. A new set of eyes seeing things getting worse and worse needed to speak up and get the car off the road. Yes, the owner is ultimately responsible but in this situation there is more than enough blame to go around.
  23. I'm guessing brake fade after fighting a huge motor that won't go back to idle for a few miles. I've had my brakes fade on a mountain road and it was like that, they felt fine and suddenly they were almost completely gone.
  24. I just got mine today, my deck plate is warped as well. It's not as bad as others have posted but fixing it will still be a PITA.
  25. Good luck with your replacements, it's been over 4 months and I haven't heard back about drippy chrome on some 69 Chevelle bumpers.
